The Producers (DVD)
Came out today.
Back in September 2004 when I went to NYC I saw The Producers at the King James Theatre which was not more than two blocks away from the hotel we were staying at. Though it didn't have Nathan Lane or Matthew Broderick, I wasn't disappointed...it was still hilarious. The movie version was pretty much a carbon copy of the play, with the exception of a few things here and there (which, amazingly, are part of the DVD deleted scenes). The songs are terrific and the story is fun ("Hold me, touch me" is the name of a character, to begin with). If you're tolerant of musicals, you should at least rent this. Jam it back in, in the dark. |

I was thinking about watching this after watching them perform some of the scenes during the fourth season finale of Curb Your Enthusiasm. Even though I know Larry David and David Schwimmer aren't the ones playing the characters like on the show, the play still looked interesting enough on it's own merit (meaning it looked pretty funny). I doubt I'll get it anytime soon, but once it's pretty cheap (like $10 or less) I'll probably consider it.
