Apocalypse Now (1979)
Young Frankenstein (1974) Lord of the Rings: Return of the King (2003) One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975) Fight Club (1999) The Matrix (1999) Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975) Alien (1979) Duck Soup (1933) Saving Private Ryan (1998) I haven't put them in a list of preference because I couldn't; I'm terrible with decisions, and these are just the ones that caught my eye first. To be honest I haven't seen that many off the list anyway although I always intend to yet never seem to have the time. There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() ![]() |
1. Seven Samurai: Started it many times, gotten through most of it, but never everything though...
2. In the mood for love 3. 8 1/2 4. Andrei Rublev 5. The Grand Illusion 6. Illusion: I'm dying to see this one, but it'll mean I'm going to have to buy it. Ah well. 7. Lucky number slevin (Ha! The pun was entirely unintended, I tell you) 8. Yi Yi 8. An Angel at my table Any more would just be straining it for numbers. edit: and oh, all of the above are unordered, except for maybe the top 4 This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |

![]() I should have suspected Buono, il brutto, il cattivo, Il was The Good The Bad and The Ugly, but something just didn't click in my head. That means my actual last movie should be Goodfellas (21). I was speaking idiomatically. |
5. 8.8 The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly (1966)
8. 8.7 The Seven Samurai (1954) 9. 8.7 Pulp Fiction (1994) 12. 8.7 One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975) 18. 8.6 City of God (2002) 21. 8.6 Goodfellas (1990) 22. 8.6 Citizen Kane (1941) 23. 8.6 Psycho (1960) 24. 8.6 Once Upon a Time in the West (1968) 25. 8.6 North by Northwest (1959) I saw "The Magnificent Seven," which removed any desire on my part to see "The Seven Samurai," since the plots are essentially the same. My mother saw "North by Northwest" six thousand times when she was pregant with me, so I suppose I must have seen it on a subconscious level. I hate Tarantino, so I've no desire to see Pulp Fiction, and City of God just sounded depressing as hell. I should probably see the others, but the thing is that since they're so ingrained in pop culture, I've basically already seen all the good parts. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() |

While I strongly detest using imdb's list as any indication of quality, I suppose I can participate
1. #6 Casablanca (1942, Michael Curtiz) 2. #29 Sunset Boulevard (1950, Billy Wilder) 3. #61 Double Indemnity (1944, Billy Wilder) 4. #70 The Manchurian Candidate (1962, John Frankenheimer) 5. #73 Rebecca (1940, Alfred Hitchcock) 6. #74 The Great Escape (1963, John Sturges) 7. #75 Some Like it Hot (1959, Billy Wilder) 8. #78 Touch of Evil (1958, Orson Welles) 9. #90 Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939, Frank Capra) 10. #95 The Apartment (1960, Billy Wilder) I knew Wilder would catch me with my pants down. 1. #6 Casablanca
2. #8 Seven Samurai 3. #10 Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back 4. #11 Star Wars 5. #13 Rear Window 6. #17 The Usual Suspects 7. #18 Cidade de Deus 8. #22 Citizen Kane 9. #24 C'era una volta il West 10.#26 Memento To be honest I did see a few minutes of 1 3 and 4, but that's it. Even as a kid I could just never get into the whole Star Wars thing, mostly for 2 reasons. 1-The whole "Dark Side" thing just seemed to me to be incredibly cheesy. I couldn't take it seriously. If they would've said evil it would've been fine. Dark Side makes it sound like it's Luke Skywalker vs Satan. 2-I always felt like a kid that walks into the middle of a conversation and he has no idea about what's going on. Now that I've watched Episode 4-6 in their entirety, I'm now actually for the first time looking forward to seeing 1-3. Now that I know what's up. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |

I've never even heard of some of these movies... o__o This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Im alittle different. I love movies that do things differently even if most people think it sucked.
1. george of the jungle(only because i was able to watch it 100 times without getting sick) 2. woriors of virtue( forgot how to spell it but yeah i liked it cause it was different) 3.The protector(best movie out today) 4.Hooked(that robin williams version of peter pan) 5.What dreams may come(another robin movie) 6.volcano high(again it was different and i liked it) 7.The others(one of the best ghost movies I have seen) 8.pitch black( way better then that other movie) 9.Gladiator( come on it was awesome) 10.The chronacles of narnia...(mythology and a dorway to fantasy engridiance to my kind of movies.) I love comedies like the next guy. Adam sandler makes me pee my pants, but i had to put the most enspiring movies for me. I also love action but not to many of them have the kind of story i really find captivating. (Man on fire is an exception) I tire of reality and like to see people use their emaginations when it comes to making movies. Yeah it's cool to tell a true story or what you would have done but I am more of a fantasy type movie guy. Thats my excape, just like the movies with a dor way to another reality. I also like hystory movies i even if they are fake It was just top ten and i couldnt fit them. The whole king arthur thing was cool until they tried to make it "real". Scary movies i hate because they are getting even more rediculaous with everyone. The others i liked and i liked the haunting until it went to far. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
I think you missed the point of the thread... I was speaking idiomatically. |

God, the lack of culture in this thread makes me feel queasy. However, a lot of the entries on this list have no right being on the list. I mean, shit, Downfall was great - but how the fuck did it sneak onto the top 100 list? And anyone who says Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is better than The Elephant Man is not a person allowed into humanity. (Donnie Darko outranks RAN. I hate the world and the internet and everyone involved with it)
#38 Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind #71 The Departed #85 Strangers on a Train (I may have seen this, I'm not sure) #172 Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan #183 Shrek #235 Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl How ya doing, buddy? ![]() |

I'm actually disgusted at myself. I thought that I was quite the movie watcher. However, this list (despite being quite rubbish) says otherwise.
