Bio Hazard Symphony Op. 91 Crime and Punishment - "TEMPEST" Generally I'm all for orchestral this and symphony that, but this sounds like the hyper-melodramatic score to a bad 1950's actioneer.

Frogatto & Friends (Game Rip) - FrogattoTitle Excellent synthy piece, if a little on the long side. I'd be interested in hearing a complete rip if one exists.

Homeplanet The Complete Game Soundtrack - Homeplanet Theme It gets the job of sounding spacey done. but the song's half over before the really nifty stuff starts to kick in.

Merregnon Soundtrack Volume 2 - Enraged Phantoms A lot like Tempest, high on old-fashioned sepia-tone movie melodrama but not much else.

Science Papa OST - Science Papa Title Track el Mobo, who has blessed us with such gems as Fury of the Furries and Pac in Time, has a bandcamp page. this jaunty little synth gem is just one of the many treasures within.

Super Scope 6 (Game Rip) - Intercept Definitely has the old-school SNES sound we all know and love. If anything, this sounds like an outtake from Link to the Past.

Touhou Gensou Shiten 4 "Excess" - The Gensokyo the Gods Loved A promising start, but it eventually disintegrates into a mess of SFX and loops. I don't know what the Gods see in this excess.

Umihara Kawase Soundtrack - "Sea - Open Sea" Stage BGM Fun and fluffy pretty much sums it up.

EDIT: now that I listen to it more, there are some noticeable fluctuations in overall volume happening throughout the Frogatto track; a mild annoyance.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

My favorite part of TEMPEST is at 1:28 when the Resident Evil Big Band muscles in for a fifteen second performance. Great week for orch music if you have any taste; Enraged Phantoms is also beastly.

I can't fault Frogatto's soundtrack compositionally, but it never really clicked with me for reasons I can't articulate. I wanted to like it a lot more than I actually ended up doing. The title theme was easily my favorite piece, and I considered nominating it myself (don't remember why I didn't), so I approve of this pick. When I started the game, I hung around the opening area to hear it in its entirety. Which took forever because it's so damn long. Man I forgot how long this is.

This week is pretty boss.

I really enjoyed the dark orchestral pieces this week. "Enraged Phantoms" in particular was lovely; wonderfully mystical. Makes sense to see that Jonne Valtonen is the composer. I reckon I'm finally gonna check these Merregnon things out.

And despite not doing anything and not receiving points, "Intercept" is a surreal kind of atmospheric awesome.

5:00 of the Touhou track is the best thing this week btw. <3 Djinova, nice nom.

Very enjoyable week whatever! Everything was good enough, although not enough for points. Even the cool-sounding tracks (The Gensokyo the Gods Loved, FrogattoTitle), but their length was a detriment, and volume fluctuations in the former, as mentioned before, does not help. I am still surprised by Valtonen. And I can't help but think of a Chuck Jones' Tom and Jerry show whenever I listen to "TEMPEST".

wtf this Bio Hazard track is ridiculous. I seriously would've held off nominating Enraged Phantoms had I known it was up against this. I know nothing about Resident Evil or it's music, but between TEMPEST and that other symphonic track some weeks back I'm about to go on a sabbatical here.

aside from some late cymbal crashes and some weird volume fluctuations, FrogattoTitle is awesome, mad props to RainMan. Gotta check out the rest of the soundtrack.
