Hilarious as it might be, I'm not sure it would be good for the long-term viability of the game to induce an instant TPK whenever an enemy with an area attack rolled a crit.
How ya doing, buddy? ![]() |
In all honesty, in the interests of balance but at the same time being speedier.
If HP is down by 1/3rd, perhaps a better counter instead of a static die increase is increase the damage die by one class? 1d8 because 1d12, oh god a 1d12 becomes a 1d20? I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
2d8 has better average damage than 1d12, though (let alone 1d10 which would actually be the next class up), and 2d12 has better averages than 1d20.
Your idea is the opposite of speedier. Most amazing jew boots ![]() |
Why not just increase the enemy damage by 33%?
Seriously. Cut their health by 33%, increase their damage (after dice roll and bonuses) by 33%. Fair is fair (since your duergar scout example increases his damage by 53%, from an average 8.5 to 13). What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Zerg why do you keep arguing fairness with someone who openly wants to kill you
![]() Additional Spam: Also adding 33% to every single damage roll on the fly is a pain in the ass FELIPE NO ![]()

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Yeah, which is why I was nice enough to alert you guys about my new plan to kill you faster.
Fair! Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() |
![]() There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Don't open that door Skex. It's a TRAP
![]() This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
If it's a trap then you should let Gordok open it. He loves setting those off.

On the topic of retraining: are we going to be doing the 1 skill per level thing, or is it basically an excuse to respec all feats/skills?
I was speaking idiomatically. |
1 substitution per level, except as:
You have some useless power/feat that you've never used, never intend to, and didn't ask for (ergo, I put it on your sheet and then you ignored it). Then you can also swap that shit out in addition to your once-a-level retraining since I don't want people to be saddled with useless crap they had absolutely no say in (which is why you have Spiritual Weapon instead of whatever it was). Okay, that's cool.
By the way, thank you to Skills for putting up the character builder. I would have just followed the PHB otherwise and wouldn't have even known about some of these abilities. On another note, Avenger looks like sweet nectar to me. I haven't even finished a campaign yet and I'm already thinking about my next char. FELIPE NO |
You guys should totally just set the elemental free, what's the worst that could happen?
Shame you never really got into a proper conversation with the mysterious wizard-esque chap you met looooooong ago near the start of the adventure, it's probably his elemental. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? ![]() ![]() |
I say we open the other door first before setting the ice elemental free. That way we have more options should it turn out to be malevolent.
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Gotta give kudos to Zerg for switching to first person narrative after disguising himself as Scary Bob.

Let's not waste an opportunity for a surprise round this time. Hopefully Garr's caught up to us by now, and we can both rush them.
Additional Spam: Also I just realized who Gordok reminds me of

Over twelve enemies with an extra damage die, oi vey. I'm gonna suggest we do concentrated focus fire on each enemy, one at a time. Based on our previous experience with Helga, we're probably gonna have to swarm Framarth with melee attackers, since excepting that close burst thing, Helga's most debilitating attacks were ranged.
We're going against maybe 2 spinagons, 1 theurge, and at least ten duergar guards or scouts by the sound of it. If we get a chance to do a round of opportunity, I'd also suggest immediate use of action points for Glock, Gordok, and Gheth since this will hopefully be our penultimate encounter in this dungeon. Thoughts? I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Or you can save emergency measures until emergencies happen, I dunno. Also you might want to wait until we find out what's actually in the room before burning some of the extra attacks. =o

![]() What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() John Mayer just asked me, personally, through an assistant, to sing backup on his new CD. |
Unless! FELIPE NO |
Hopefully I have a clear shot from two corners of that square
![]() Rules lawyerin' I'm not sure about one thing though. The power card for Two-Fanged Strike says if both attacks hit, add wisdom modifier to damage. I'm not sure whether to include half my level to that, so I went conservative since 2 HP isn't terribly important. How ya doing, buddy? |
Leaving aside the question of Cal's line of sight (which just barely works, if we assume he's on tiptoe and leaning waaaay over), a more pressing issue is the fact that he's trying to shoot something whose turn comes before his.
Do you think the spined devil in B2 will patiently stay put for you, Zerg. Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() |
YES, that's PRECISELY what I was hoping he would do
![]() Ok srsly I'll edit it to match whatever movement choices you decide to make! By the way, may I request a map of the room we're in? I may want to retreat further in future rounds, and want to make sure I don't retreat to a wall. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
