Tube is biased? Because, y'know, that's a fucking surprise to me. Especially considering that he and Megalith were the first known detractors of Halo 2 in spite of what I can only describe as their promotion of it before release. If you come to Gamingforce, it's the closest thing as far as "Reliable First Review" that you're going to get.

How ya doing, buddy?

arstechnica gave it a 7/10. That's shocking.

Actually they didn't. If you read the article properly they gave the single player 'campaign' component 7/10. It states that quite clearly and indicates that the score is not for the whole game. They'll be doing reviews for the multiplayer components separately.

Just to save the lazy people extra effort:

We're going to see if it delivers. We will follow this up with further coverage of the co-operative, multiplayer, and film-sharing and editing features shortly after the game launches.

Even given that caveat, a 7 is unwarranted for the campaign portion. There is not a single FPS campaign that has more entertainment and replay value than Halo 3's. Luckily, nearly every other review out contradicts their 7 rating of campaign, making theirs an irrelevant outlier.

I liked Halo 1 but was never a fan for 2. However 3 is the first one that I've been excited for before release, and from what I've seen so far, it's for good reason too.

Todate I would have to say that the best review I've seen is GT's. It was informative without getting too in depth or fanboyish.

But on top of the new A.I. and good map designs. I like how the art team seems to have actually done something in this game unlike 2 where they just recycled most of 1's designs. I can't wait to drive that motorbike with the blades on it... FUN!!!

@Tube
I won't know till I've played H3, but Rainbow Six: Vegas had a REALLY good replay value to it's campaign too.

Vegas AI was meh.

I spent three hours in line to get my Legendary Edition. Now I've gotta go to bed, attend my one class tomorrow, and then I'm free to beat the tar out of it again and again and again tomorrow. Happy hunting everyone!
I showed up at 5 minutes til midnight, waited 20 minutes, and bought my regular edition Halo 3, and got the tar beat out of me on slayer.

Yeah likewise with having to wait until tomorrow. I ordered online, but with super-quick delivery so if it doesn't arrive tomorrow I shall be somewhat miffed. I'm sort of hoping that they will have sent it out a little early and it arrives today, that'd be sweet.

We only played for 3 hours (made it to mission 6 on Legendary) but god damn, most fun I've had in a long time. I'll write more in the morning, but Tube summed it up better than I could.

9.9/10. Not gonna lie.

No, I've got my order with GAME, who have been excellent with the standard delivery to date (the free delivery they offer is 2nd class, whereas I've paid for next day delivery for Halo 3). If it doesn't turn up at least by tomorrow I'll be having words, but that's a bridge to be crossed if it's arrived at.

Figured I'd post the goods from the Singapore launch event:

Crowd wasn't very big since it's a weekday and people were at school or work.

I just came home with the regular edition today, didn't really see a need for all the "limited edition" free shit that will probably never leave it's packaging and collect dust until a hurricane sweeps along destroying it all.

I'll be online most of today and tomorrow on Kostaki ZX on Live, never played the beta so the whole game is fresh to me.

I picked up my Legendary Edition last night because I work at a game store, of course I had to work the launch shift. But yeah, so far I've only been playing the single-player and it's definately the best SP of all three Halos IMO. Only thing I have to say about the LEndary Edition is while the content is cool and the helmet looks pretty sweet on display, what's with the game packaging though? It's looks like it's a pirated copy or something. The only thing that has colour is the word Halo 3 and the case itself is a standard black DVD case. WFT?

I picked up the regular edition last night and had an all night LAN party with about 12 people. Epic shit. I was a little jealous of one of them when he was showing off his Legendary helmet. From all the pictures I'd seen on fliers and from what I heard from GameStop clerks, I was under the impression the helmet was the size of a baseball and was essentially a paperweight. I had no idea it was more or less life-size and meant to house the whole trilogy. Still not really worth an extra $100 though, imo.

The controls take a little getting used to, but once you get the hang of it, you start to wonder how you got along with the old setup. Slayer was great fun, but I think we had the most fun with Infection. We turned off the radar and tweaked it so that the zombies were slow, but could jump really high, putting a rather large dent in the whole "Get to higher ground and camp" plan. Also, Save one Bullet mode makes it really intense. We started playing the campaign at around 5:00 am and so far it's pretty good.
Spoiler:
The constant Cortana interruptions that slow everything down are kind of annoying though.
We only cleared the second level, so I'm hoping that's not a problem the whole game.

Oh my god, the weapons. The needler is vastly improved and is actually useful. Halo 1's Assault Rifle! Flamethrower, Halo 1's Pistol, sans scope and not overpowered. Brute Pistol and Shotgun, Swords with ammo! I think I can safely say that this is THE best Halo, surpassing even the original in balance and fun. Halo 2 left a bad taste in my mouth, but 3 took everything that was wrong with it, fixed it and made it better. That'll do, Bungie. That'll do.

Damn, you got to mission 6 is Legendary is 3 hours? I know you played on Co-op which makes it way easier, but I heard the game is only 9 missions. So we're looking at a 4 1/2 - 5 hour single-player campaign here? That sucks! The campaign is the reason I am even buying Halo 3. I'm disappointed by that.

I can't see how you can say it's a 9.9. Way too short by any FPS standard.

How ya doing, buddy?

Gonna go get Halo 3 Legendary Edition right now. Debating whether I'll get a 360 as well. They said they had them. I'll probably get a wireless adapter as well. Perhaps this weekend I'll play co-op with some of you dudes. I'm sure it'll be a great way to start my 360 experience if so. =))))

First few missions are short. The rest are much, much longer. Campaign is about 12-13 hours overall. I like how the assault rifle isn't garbage anymore. Starting off with the Battle Rifle is kinda ugh in some multi games, but at least the AR packs a punch now.
