How To Convert Video's Into Good Quality .MP4/.3GP's?

Hey,

For the past week I've been trying to convert videos like .avi's, wma's, and stuff to the best Quality .MP4/.3GP's that are 177x144 pixels for my Samsung D500 Phone. I've found a couple of way's, but I'm not satisfied yet.

I've tried using:

Xilisoft X4 Live - It's pretty good, It makes fairly descent quality .Mp4's but some of the time the movies blurry. It's really good, but could be better.

Converting the Origional Video file with WinAVI to a .avi 176x144 and converted that to a .Mp4 with WinAvi Mp4 converter. It makes the best quality I've seen, but It runs pretty slow and skips half the time.

I found this guide:

Here are the whole process.
1. encode video in avi format using xvid (use simple profile don't use advanced simple profile) the resolution framrate and bitrate should not exceed the capability of target player. (176x144 15fps not more than 128kbps for K700) [xvid.avi]

2. encode audio, I recommend using quicktime aac mono audio at 32kbps or Nero AAC VBR at thier VBR lowest settings. [aac.mp4]

3.1 using mp4box to convert xvid avi (step 1) to mp4 using this commandline
mp4box -import xvid.avi xvid.mp4

3.2 then merge video with aac audio
mp4box -merge xvid.mp4 aac.mp4 movie.mp4

4. restream mp4 to 3gp format using Quicktime Pro (This step is optional)
- open movie.mp4 in quicktime
- choose export save as .3gp
- select passtrough for both video and audi (very important)

You will get .3gp file encode using the best mpeg4 video encode (and also on the audio part)
but I Got lost like, midway through step one.

I've also used to easy .Avi to .3GP converters but the quality is shocking or dont work for me, like Xilisoft, ImTOO etc.

I need to be able to convert the video's to my Samsung D500 phone so the video has to be 177x144 pixels, otherwise I can't put it on my Phone. If anyone could help me get the best results for converting Video's to .Mp4/.3Gp's it would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks,
~Kwan

Jam it back in, in the dark.

try PSP Movie Creator or WinAVI MP4 Converter for MP4

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Question, will PSP convertor work on my iPod video?

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

VLC Media Player has a transcoding option that does MP4. I've used it many times. I'll do a lame explanation with a few screenshots if you like.

Yeh, I've tried that. Thanks for the suggestion. I think it's because of the DivX codec used to convert the video. It makes really good quality, but also harder and slower to run.

With PSP Movie Creator, I cannot choose to convert the movie to the size of 177x144 pixels so, I wont be able to put it on my phone.

If VLC Media Player can convert the movies to a 177x144 .MP4 file, that would be excellent.

Thanks Again Peepz,
~Kwan

I was speaking idiomatically.

Ah, to the best of my knowledge I think VLC will only keep the resolution it's encoding from. At least, I haven't seen any settings anywhere that make it do otherwise.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?
