And I'm also not certain that Canada wishes to strip its natural habitats for such a venture. Lastly, do you even have a source for this claim? I've never ever heard of Alberta's Oil Sands. There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() |
Oil Sands FAQ from the University of Alberta.
I have to wonder how you could have never heard of them, though, Crash. They've gotten more and more press as the price of oil has continued to rise. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |

It'd still be better to look into alternative energy rather than a short term fix. After that 50 years is up, then what? Once I have money to get a new car, it'll definitely be either a hybrid or electric or whatever. My Honda Civic does fine, it's just that I travel at least 30 miles each day, so I have to get gas at least once a week. Not bad I guess, but still. At least it's nice to see a major gas company look into alternative fuels. Seriously I know they're a company and need money, but if they can capitalize on a new energy source, then they'll have money beyond their wildest imagination. Most amazing jew boots |
God, you all should be grateful you don't live in California, $2.75ish around the San Francisco area. I drive a pretty gas efficient car (35MPG on average) so I don't have it as bad as some, but the prices still suck.

Yeah, don't worry, everybody has been feeling the same way in Japan for the past couple of years now. I've heard that everything is going downhill by 2040 0_0.

yea i heard that the oil industry dies in an estimated 40 years time =/ right now prices went up about 20% from last year in Australia
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Over here in Malaysia the price jumped by 30 sen lol.

Oh, I agree that it's not an actual solution. I'm just saying that Alberta alone has enough oil to supply us for a long time, even without sources such as the Middle East.
Although, it does make you wonder. With the billions upon billions of dollars that oil companies are making, they can't be stupid enough to not be researching alternative energy sources. They of all people know more about how much is left and how long it'll last than anyone else. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |

You just gotta check the news every once and a while so you can understand when it might go up and down. Though there predictions are more that 70% incorrect. The only true facts are the current prices. "laugh" ^_^

You're right, gas prices are crazy expensive!! Two weeks ago it was just 2.00 here in Houston. It's now: $2.35-Reg, $2.45-Plus, and $2.55-Premium. I gotta pay like 40 to 50 bucks every week for a full tank.

We pay like, 60 cents per litre, which is around $2.16 per gallon. And this is México, so the prices should be considerably lower considering half of the population is in extreme poverty.

I'll put it simply, any time there's negative news about the Middle East (such as the attempted bombing of a Saudi refinery, the Dubai port takeover, and possible Iraq Civil War), gas prices climb. They do so because oil companies know that most people will accept the climb due to hostile conditions in the supposed world capital of oil output.

Then there's the small one everybody seems to misses; Chavez threatens to stop shipping oil to the US and to close down Citgo refineries in America. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Try living somwhere outside America, in England at the moment we are paying around $5.5 a Gallon! One day you will too be subject to the extorsionate prices :P
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Wow! Those gas prices in England are outrageous!! Gas prices just went up again this evening! Now it's $2.39 for regular. I'm gonna have to find other ways to move about. I think I need to carpool or something!

Honestly, the rising prices really aren't hurting me too much. I live three miles from work, three and a half from school, I can generally go a few weeks without stopping for gas. I was speaking idiomatically. |

Drive a more fuel efficient car, and you wont have to worry so much

They've gone up. Just this Wednesday, while I was waiting for my state inspection, I've watched as the price of gas gone up from 2.33 to 2.45, and that's unleaded.
WTF. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? ![]() |
We dont need more oil from a new source. We need an alternative fuel/energy source. That way we can use what oil is left for our products and food.
I could care less about people getting to work in cars. We run out of oil and you're going to be having trouble getting ahold of some damn food. Being able to get to work will be pointless if you have no food to spend that money on. Oh and gas is 2.50 here. It gets really expensive for me and my brother to fill our gas tanks sometimes. Most of the time I dont even drive. I'l just bike or walk to where I need to go now. It's even worse for my father though. He can go through a full tank very quickly because the base he works at is so far. It costs him a large amount of money to keep gas in his vehicle. Ofcourse.. it's been alot worse before. Almost 3/4$. So this is kinna a break from that.. still alot though. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Gas saddly lost it's self esteem in a debilitating kareoke accident and had therefore no other option but to sell itself for more to regain a shred of dignity.
I for one am behind gas one hundred percent. There's nowhere I can't reach.
