I've heard mixed things, does the 20 Gig version have an HDMI port?

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Yes. Also, between the update and Motorstorm demo, I'm already down to 14gb.

Gave Ricky Bobby a quick look, didn't see that Spiderman 3 trailer anywhere. Downloading a Lair video while I go eat. Resistence coming next.

I don't remember but is there some ps2 game that you can "install" on the HDD so that it can reduce some loading time? I want to try this out

and I tried some ps2 game and I have no problem with them, I even tried DMC1 that i heard didn't worked on the JP ps3 but it seem to work well with my ps3.

there was not suppose to be some enhancing feature for ps2 game? but I sure didn't find them and the ps2 game play almost exactly like on a ps2... I hope they will had this in a future update ^^

Nah, its too expensive for me right now. I'll wait a bit since those consoles are full of bugs and glitches, and probably gonna have a factory recall.

Good question. I'll be sure to give Phantasy Star Universe a try later on.

And no, there isn't supposed to be any upscaling or any other enhancements for PS2 games, at least that's what I read (haven't tried BC yet). An update is imminent, but the question is when.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

well I tried with Burnout 3 and even if in the network configuration setting it said that my connection is fine, the game doesn't seem to recognize that there's a network profile save on the "internal ps2 memory card" but I didn't really tried to search how to resolve it, I'm way to exited to check every feature that this machine has XD

I heard FFXI wont work on the PS3. But only because of how it uses the PS2 harddrive. Which makes it incompatible with the PS3. Though, SE or Sony are supose to fix that..

soldier: how do you feel about the L2/R2 "trigger" button... not that I don't like trigger button, but those seem kind of weird to use, you kind of need to push hard on them...well I'll see when I'll play a game that use them often

edit: I just tried Xenogears and it work perfectly, but it seems they took out the possibility of the ps2 to make texture look better :\ it's again maybe me that didn't look hard enough or it will be again in another update XD

The great thing about the PS2 was that it was backward compatiable with the PSone in everything, the PS3 however has trouble playing some older games and I hate the fact that there is no slot in the system to put your memory cards in. I think there is a adapter you can use, but that will be something else to buy just to contiune playing your saved games on the PS3.

Good job making yourself look even stupider than usual. This is a false statement, and there were a very select few titles which the BC on the PS2 could not handle properly. FACT.

I like them so far. They feel pretty comfortable and fun to click on, unlike the GC's shoulder buttons. I get what you're saying, as I felt a little ackward ducking in Resistence, but you don't have to push the button down all the way; just a slight click will do the job.

I'll have impressions on Resistence later on too. The online mode is pretty fun.

As for the memory card slot, Gamestop didn't have the adaptor. They said they should receive it around next week. Surprisingly the only PS3 accesories they had were extra controllers.

As for FFXI and the HDD, I have a USB adaptor for HD's that I use for my PC, so I'm going to hook that up later to see if it works on PS3.

EDIT: I inserted a couple of PS2 games, but they wouldn't appear in the menu. It turns out I had to manually restart the system, which would then boot up the PS2 game.

Hoo boy, FFXII got hit with an ugly stick. There's some serious compression issues with the FMV and actual game. Looks like the PS3 has some major updating to do. I'll try a few more games, but I'm not about to sell my PS2 just yet.

Double Post:
On the upside, Shadow of the Colossus seems to have improved a little. I replayed it recently, so I can tell that the textures are a bit cleaner, a few less jaggies. I'll take requests on what games you'd like me to try out later in my journal.

wow just played the demo of motorstorm and god this game is good, well at least the demo XD it's fun and weird to try to steer with the motion sensor XD

now I have a problem I think my ps3 is taking a lot of my wireless network, what I mean is that every time i go online on my ps2 the other comp in another room loose the wireless signal... I'm not sure is it really due to the ps3 but it just started to do this...(but we had some trouble with it like it always say that there's a low signal even if the router is only 2 room away (not very far)

Have you set up a static IP address with the PS3? I think that might help things.

I think I've seen enough of the system now, so expect some journal impressions soon.

hmm I'm not sure how to set up a static IP XD

editk when I plug my psp with an usb cable to my ps3, the ps3 detect everything (video, music, photo, etc) but when i put the memory stick directly into the ps3, it detect nothing... is it because when I put it directly into the ps3, it act more like a "external drive" and can detect the folder that are within it?

How ya doing, buddy?

Wait, the PS3 recognized your PSP? I tried hooking mine up but didn't get any indication that it worked.

As for a static IP, open up your command prompt (type cmd in the "Run" option), then type ipconfig/all. Then just copy the info you see there to the internet settings in the PS3.

The Smash My PS3 video us up! HOT DAMN IT'S AWESOME!

Today is official PS3 insanity day, and this is the best way to end it.

I can't wait until they have the longer video for the PS3, and the Wii video in two days!

I will stop referring to the PS3 as a video game console. It has definitely set itself apart from a console with such advanced features and configurations. From what I have read the past three weeks and from you guys, this is not a console, but PC.

To me, this isn't necessarily a good thing. Although it is interesting.

I went to Best Buy yesterday. About 30 tents rapped around the store, all the way to the back lot. I went inside. I waited 30 minutes to try out the new PS3 demo kiosk. I decided to play Motor Storm. I came.

There is no way I cannot purchase this system. I want it. Bad.

When do you guys think we will see the first price drop .

No, because that's against the rules. I call it commenting on the sad, pitiful nature of the current topic of conversation.
It's not my fault that only a couple of people managed to snag the system. I'm posting with updated impressions because I assumed the people who missed out wanted to hear about them, but if you're saying that isn't the case, I'll stop. I know the back and forth with just 2 members is pretty stupid, but there's nothing I can really do about that.

I'm a bit perplexed by all the Motorstorm love, because I found the online demo slightly underwhelming. The thing even glitched up embarrasingly when I tried to turn motion sensitivity On during the bike races.

He's talking about how you're completely wrong about the whole static IP thing. My post mocks the both of you as well.

Gotta pay a bit more attention there next time, son.
Of course he couldn't just offer his own solution, then. The IP Address was just a guess, but I suppose what Inhert's really suffering from is bandwith problems. In which case I'm not sure how to fix that.
