Remembrance Day
So I ask humbly, that at 11AM on November 11th, please take a minute of silence in honor and respect, and remember those who gave their lives. Lest We Forget. Jam it back in, in the dark.

As much as I would want to show my respect ... Wouldn't this be more reasonable on the day of, rather than five days before?
There's nowhere I can't reach. |

Interesting. Is Remembrance Day strictly for those who have died?
How ya doing, buddy? |
remembrance day... another proof of quebec's total lack of recognition for REAL freedom fighters. This day is barely celebrated here; we don't even get a day off.

We don't get a day off over here either. We do have a one minutes silence at 11:11am on November 11th and that's about it. Also, a lot of people wear poppies to show their respect (wearing one as I type).

In the US it's known as Veterans' Day. I'd like to add the following:
How ya doing, buddy? ![]() |
remembrance day is big in newfoundland, everything is closed and there are ceramonies everywhere. How ya doing, buddy? |
I still haven't obtained a poppy yet, however I haven't looked for them either, they are everywhere though, I do have to make a point of getting one this week.
It's a fairly standard memorial type day here, although most stores that do open on Nov. 11, will only be open after noon. But it's a day off from school and work for most people. Assuming I'm not sleeping at 11am, there will be a moment of silence. If I am sleeping.....well I shouldn't be. I have to say though, I'm saddened at the lack of respect given to the day, in that there still are stores that will open, etc etc. Maybe one day it will again be a true day of respect for those that fell in battle. Until then, do what we can to remember them. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?
Hatred on the fact that I lost my old sig, maybe I'll get it back someday. Or not!

Yeah, I find that Remembrance Day is very important to me and my family. My Grandfather was in WWI and was in the British Navy during that time. He was on a bunch of ships, one being the H.M.S. Hood in 1916 and 1917. He was discharged in 1929. He lived a long life (95 years), but its hard to imagine what he went through during the war. Kinda nerve-racking I think.

My grandfather served as a field mechanic in WWII and I have friends who have served. Also, one of my workmates is in the reserves and will soon be taking the exam for a promotion to Sergeant.
Got a poppy, now I just need to get off my ass and get a safety pin so it doesn't fall off for the twelfth time. There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() |
That was a really nice quote. Hadn't heard it before. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() |
This is the first time I've seen it posted anywhere with respect.

Try replacing the pin with a safety pin.
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() |
FELIPE NO |
I bend the pin almost 90° and it usually stays in unless i'm putting on and taking off the inside liner :S

Today is the day - November 11th, the anniversary of the armistace that ended WWI.
Please, when the clock hits 1100, take a minute or two of silence for honour and respect of our soldiers. Double Post: LEST WE FORGET This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
