Did fireballs always work on end bosses? The boss fights in this game are extremely cheapened because of this..

Anyone purchase this game yet, I'm about to head out for an exam in about an hour or so and it's raining pretty hard out so I'll pick up the game after I finish. Either way, would appreciate some feedback on the game and just for kicks last night I completed the original SMB in 6m03s on my NDS.

Okay, I saw the commercial. E3 almost made me completely forget about this game.

Actually, I thought today was only the shipping date, but I'm hearing from some people that some stores were selling it since yesterday! I'm gonna be checking around.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Super Paper Mario is a little similar.

I'll pick this up when I get a DS Lite.

Today should only be the day it ships, so I don't even know how some stores got it early enough to sell yesterday. Regardless, I'm waiting to get it tomorrow at Circuit City (they say it should be in stores by 5pm), who's selling it for only $28! A seven dollar discount is good enough to wait for, in my opinion.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Oh snap!
I need to get this game. I'm going to take my time, though, I'll go ahead and beat Fire Emblem first, and get this late May when I don't have to preorder it.

Just wanted to mention that they also finally updated the website today. They've added more videos, and basically just made it a real website now. Check it out!

I'll have to pick this up sometime this week.

On another note, I'm glad I snagged that Koopa team wallpaper from the website earlier; it doesn't even look like they have it online anymore.

EDIT: You can still find it here:

I'm using that awesome pic on my home PC. That's the highest resolution they offer.

Fantastic. Love the backgrounds. Also, Audio Sample 5 is really awesome. I'm assuming it's the world 5 map theme. The music has grown on me and I found myself humming the main theme in class last week.

It's a shame that most people aren't going to measure this up to the classics; from what I've seen, this is just as great as SMB3 and SMW. I'll have to play it before I come to any final decisions, though.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I IS GAME GET

Got at EBgames. I started playing, but I haven't played the main game yet. There was one new minigame where you guide a bob-omb through thousands of fireballs. It was awesome, except your hand does a good job at obscuring the screen.

Someone needs to rip the music STAT. The minigame menu music is just cool.

The game is really remarkable. It's up there with the classics on the fun scale, and I haven't even begun exploring. It's easily the best reason to own a DS so far.

Another winner for DS!

I just got the game, and so far I've played the first two stages and a couple of the minigames. This game is freaking awesome, no doubt about it! If you even think you want this game, just go and get it because you will love it.

I'll try and see if I can get some multiplayer done tonight, since my sister also got the game today. I expect that to be awesome as well.

This game is AWESOME. HOLY CRAP.

I played through the first four stages and I was blown the fuck away. This plays so much like the original Super Mario Bros (I just played it on Sunday), it's uncanny. This truly is a return to form for the Mario franchise.

BUY THIS GAME

I'm so tempted to get this game, but I'm getting it for my birthday. Bah, I don't know if I should use the last of my money, or what. From the videos I've seen, I'm loving the music..

This may just be THE MOST single MOST awesome ... THING... I've ever played in the world's longest time. I can say with full confidence that this game matches up to previous Super Mario Games.

Just got to world 3. Like previous Mario Games, once you know them inside out, you can beat them in one sitting. The secrets are CLEVER, though the ones that require an item that you cannot get in the same stage are annoying.

Nintendo definitely put their heart and soul into this. For those who are still on world one, you ain't seen nothin yet.

I've played about halfway through the first world and holy fucking shit.

This game is shaping up to be one of the best games ever. It is very hard to put this down.

Also, Circuit City is selling it for $27.99, so major win.

Anyone annoyed that they can't save anywhere they want to?

Why did Nintendo include this "feature?" I like nostalgia as much as the next guy, but not for clunky outdated save systems.

EDIT: A bit of a spoiler regarding the save system, but...
Spoiler:
I found out that you can save at anytime using the "start" menu after you beat the game once.

I'm not. The stages are short. I usually never open up Mushroom gates at all, so I usually save those for potential save points.

Okay, I've done pretty much everything possible in the first 3 worlds. This game is fantastic.

Oh man, the multiplayer is pretty awesome. As cool as Mario vs. Luigi was, I think I enjoyed playing the minigames more.

If you seen any of the videos for Mario vs. Luigi, you basically already know what it is. One person plays as Mario, the other as Luigi, and you race around a looping stage collecting big stars that randomly appear. The first player to get the amount of stars that's predetermined by the player before the round wins that round, and whoever wins the most rounds wins the game. You can also hit your opponent to make them drop one of their stars so that you can try to get it. Also, all of the powerups from the main game are usable as well. This is fun for some time, but there isn't much variety except in the different stages.

The minigames are the real fun, in my opinion. They add more games than what's available in each of the categories (Action, Puzzle, and Table) in one player mode, and they also added a whole new category (1 on 1) with some new games as well. You can choose to play them in random mode, where you just pick the category and the game chooses the minigames you play and how many stars they're worth (in this mode, whoever has the most stars at the end wins), or in free play mode, where one of the players chooses the specific minigames and its star value (in this mode, whoever reaches a certain amount of stars first wins). I liked this mode better since the games had more variety, and were just more fun in general.

Overall though, the main game still holds the most appeal. If you need to take a break from the main game, or you just need something to do afterwards, the multiplayer is definitely worth your time.

Is the single mode somewhat challenging and does it seem like a long game at all? I'm sure whatever the answer, I will still buy the game but it would be nice to know
