I just bought Rescue Me: The Complete Second Season on DVD today. I have the first season already, but I haven't even watched it yet. I've also never even watched the show on TV, except for one episode that prompted me to buy the set. I figured that since the third season is premiering at the end of this month, I would try to marathon through both of these seasons so that I could watch the third season while it was airing.

I ended up with two copies of Advent Children after my birthday, so I went and exchanged one for two other movies:

Phantom of the Opera - I don't usually go in for musicals but this one really intrigued me, and after seeing it at the cinema I resolved to get it as soon as it came out. I didn't count on being so low on cash at the time though...

Full Metal Jacket - I'm going through this obsession with war flims and the likes at the moment. I haven't gotten round to watching this yet; I'm far too busy.

Today I purchased

Futurama: Season 4
I bought this mainly because i already have season 2 + 3, but also because i enjoy this show so much. I can watch it over and over and never get bored of it.

Red Hot Chilli Peppers: Stadium Arcadium
Been a fan of Red Hot Chilli Peppers for a while now, and when i realised they had a new album out, i had to get it. Only heard the first song "Dani California". Enjoyed that, so i'm hoping the rest is just as good.

Well, I decided to expand my DVD Empire (200+), and today I purchased:

Pulp Fiction - Watched it and loved it.

As Good As It Gets - Enjoyed it.

Saving Private Ryan - One of Spielberg's finest.

Schindler's List - Well, in my opinion, this is Spielberg's finest.

X-Men - Strangely, I have X2, but not the first. An excellent comic-book film.

Firefly - I couldn't resist! I never had the chance to watch it when it was on television. After seeing Serenity, I had to fork over my cash and give it a shot. Haven't watched it yet, but I expect great things!

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I'm considering taking RHCP back to Wal-Mart for another copy. It was the last copy on the new release shelf, and there's a huge, deep scratch going across the back of the cardboard case, and a really deep one on the front about a quarter of the way across. It seems like alot of work to go back to Wal-Mart and exchange it just for a new case though...

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Oh well, I had to pick up a few more items today anyway (I bought a printer yesterday, opened it up, and realized it requires USB and I didn't have a USB cable lying around anywhere), so I held on to the RHCP album and exchanged it today.

And on a side note, the new Tool album sucks. Bad. It makes me wish I would have downloaded it first to give it a try. Undertow had some good songs with alot of filler, Aenima was great, Lateralus was mostly filler with a few GREAT songs, but 10,000 Days is just total garbage. There's not one song I like on it.

I was speaking idiomatically.

I bought it too, OMG, most of the songs sound the same! It's really gay, the only songs I really enjoyed were Dani California, Snow(Hey Oh), Torture Me, 21st Century, Hard to Concentrate, and Storm in a Teacup, and out of 28 songs that's pretty bad!

I recently purchased

Very, very different from their first album, "Office of Strategic Intelligence" (I'm assuming because of Steven Wilson's absence), but I still love it. Kevin Moore's nearly-deadpan vocals are unique and fitting. Some of the songs actually gave me chills.

I've only listened to the first CD in its entirety. It sounded pretty good to me. I'll listen to the second CD tomorrow, I'm pretty tired right now. I don't see why everyone dislikes this album so much, I think it's awesome so far. But then again, By The Way was my favorite RHCP album before that. I never liked them during their Blood Sugar Sex Magik days.

Spring-time sales at music stores are always bad news for me.

DVDs

24 Season 2 - It was half price. Half price. I couldn't NOT buy it.

Indiana Jones Boxed Set - Been wanting this for some time, but just never got around to buying it. Finally decided to pick it up, take it too the till and find out that it's $20 off. Sweet. Definately my second favourite trilogy of all time (after Star Wars naturally, and just ahead of Back to the Future).

Commando - Notorious as Arnold's most violent movie. More than 100 people dead in 88 minutes. Never has 80s action been so bad (and so good).

Ocean's Eleven - Again, another one that I've been wanting to buy, but haven't got around too. While Ocean's 12 may be nothing more than some rich people's vacation film, Ocean's 11 is one damn good heist movie.

Daredevil Director's Cut - I really don't get why this movie gets all the shit it does. It wasn't that bad. Not half as bad as Fantastic Four. Sure Elektra, Bullseye, and Kingpin are horribly cast. But I'll go on record and say that Affleck did a damn good job with Matt Murdock. And hell, for the $6 I paid for it (go sales), if I watch it once, it's paid for itself.

Lion King - Since it's "back in the vault" (fucking Disney) I had to get it second hand from a pawn shop. Case is a little beat up but the DVDs are fine (after a little cleaning). Still my favourite Disney movie ever.

CDs

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Stadium Arcadium - I like it. I don't love it. I don't hate it. But I like it. While I adore Dani California, I wasn't that impressed with it the first time I heard it. But it's slowly growing on me. I do however wish there was a little more upbeat funk, and little less slower stuff.

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Blood Sugar Sex Magick - For some reason I never actually owned a copy of this. But now this is more like it. Much, much more funky and harder. Easily their best album.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Ooh. I've heard it's not as heavy as their first release. Is it mainly acoustic, or what?

Shutdown was a great song, though. <3 Wilson.

It's not so much acoustic as it has less of an emphasis on synthesizers and more on drums and bass. There's still some good crunchy guitar and awesome riffs, but the sound itself is altogether very different. It's more similar to Chroma Key than "Office of Strategic Intelligence," I guess you could say.

Sometimes I love HMV's randomness. $36.99 for some random CD. The next week it's $9.99. I almost never buy anything from them that isn't on sale or from the 2/3 for $20/$30 racks, but with that stuff I always get great deals.

Same here.

I always go in there, looking for deals. The price fluctuates quite a bit -- and like you said, often dramatically. For instance, I remember The Complete Superman Collection being somewhere in the $60 range. And now it's $29.99.

And yeah, I also like the two for $30 deals, or three for $30. They now even have three for $20.

I've yet to check out Chroma Key in great detail, but I'm a huge Kevin Moore fanboy, so it's gotta be good. I'll definitely see if I can get it off play.com or somewhere similar.
