Big humongous new monster.

...

Any chance the orcs have damaged him some, before they died? Even a little bit?

So how many encounters are we fighting here... :O

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Sorry Pang, slight typo there. It's a bit more straightforward than that, promise. I wrote AB-1 when I meant AB-5

I basically interjected a standard action between a move action (move 6 squares, fire off at-will attack, finish movement at 8 squares). If it's illegal, I won't mind one bit if you forfeit the missed attack so I get my arrow back

Is a knowledge check considered a standard action? I'm thinking I'd like to do a nature check on the troll, see if Cal knows what makes it tick. Take 10 if possible.

Oh! And thanks for the gift, Pangsy

Jam it back in, in the dark.

So gang, we has a trolls that can regenerate if not hit with fire or acid. None of us have any at-will attacks with those, I don't think. Other than Garr's firebombs and Glock's explosives which lack sulfur, what other resources do we have?

Lure the troll into the hearth or something, and push him in?

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I have arrows, but realistically it takes some time to heat up the metal arrowhead...

We don't have any oil either, do we?

I'd vote for diplomacy but Pang already turned down two such attempts. Not gonna work.

Say, Glock threw some ale into the bridge. Is that stuff flammable?

Edit: Sorry Skills. Just doing idle speculation. Unless we has a plan, I'm not actually going to do anything other than give piercings to duergar scouts

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Eventually I get out of the fucking box (all 5 players were locked in boxes, I shit you not) and then we spent literally an entire month standing around introducing ourselves to each other before I gave up and just deleted my bookmark and never looked back
Just for the sake of curiosity, how did everyone get out of the boxes?

I was speaking idiomatically.

So like, Pang. what's the flammability of the ale Glock tossed out on the bridge, assuming we break open the keg and liberally spread the contents all over Gorg?

Not in this adventure, no. But in fairness to the Horde, I must say that battles probably ran faster in their day. You had a walking tank (Argumentus), two very-strong damage-dealing dwarves (Motsognir and the Tobogganer) and a ranged striker that does area attacks (Bob).

Plus, Bob's mage hand ability would have easily bypassed the barricaded door, I think. The current team seems to specialize in unorthodox solutions to problems - still pretty much amazed at how strong bluff and diplomacy is.

Combo armadillo football is pretty inspired too.

Uh, Skex, you seem to really have an issue with walls.
There is a solid wall between yourself at X-3 and the door I believe you are indicating. That door, in the closed position, is supposed to border X-3 and W-3, not X-4 and X-3.

This is not to say that your blatant disregard for walls is not amusing, its just you aren't using it to its fullest extent. I'm sure there is plenty of room for slapstick in your narrative...
I don't think Skexis didn't make a mistake this time. Here's an earlier map.

It's .... it's not very clear!

Well, Pang hasn't posted yet, so he'd be able to edit the post. Might I suggest a tactical retreat to either my position, or to the door at AB-1.5? If I'm not mistaken, it should lead to a room that takes you to the other bridge at the southeast fort.

Though I'm sure the south bridge is safer. The troll will never go near that burning log since he's afraid of fire!

Will you be able to drag Gordok along with you? If that would trigger an AoO then better not.

Actually, what triggers an Opportunity Attack? The PHB says, moving away from a square threatened by an opponent, and explicitly lists crawling, walking, and running away as movement that invite melee attacks of opportunity. Shifting explicitly prevents that. How about other movements such as sliding, pulling, pushing, jumping away, and teleporting?

Also look harder Zerg. A wall clearly impedes the progress of Gheth's hand to the doorknob, even in the image you link. Shadows do not magically dissolve stone or make them immaterial.
You are right of course, but so that I can salvage a bit of my dignity, let the record show that Pang himself thought there was a connective door!

Zerg, let me make sure I understand your post.

You shift to V-5 as a reaction. Okay, fine. Then you fire off a Careful Attack at Helga.

Sure. Then you sprint over to AB-1, where your molecules merge with Garrmondo's as you occupy the same space. While the fusion is occurring, you attack Helga again in an unspecified manner. You already attacked during this turn, so you spend an action point. Then you take an AoO from Helga for using your bow at melee range.

THEN you run back to the bridge, necessitating that you pass by Ortak (having somehow avoided it on the way to your date with Garr) and take another AoO. Additionally, having already moved and attacked this turn, you spend another AP in order to perform this second move.

Is this correct? I don't want to move ahead if I'm misunderstanding you.
Also, if Glock can scan the troll, it'd be really great

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Oh God. Three damage rolls with natural 1s. In a row.

Anyway, I'm posting here to confirm whether I have line of sight from AB1 to the troll. If I'm interpreting the rules correctly, I'm supposed to draw a line from any corner in my square, to all four corners occupied by Gorg. And if any one is impeded, he has cover. And if all four are impeded, he has superior cover. Correct?

If the enemy occupies more than 1 square (like Gorg), can I choose any square I like? Or does it have to be a square that is closest to me? For example, Gorg is now located at Y-8 to Z-7. Can I choose to draw to Z-8, or must I use Z-7? (This probably isn't applicable in this situation, but I thought I'd ask anyway.)

Edit: Oh forum dice, why hast thou gone against us this round? Don't make Cal as useless as Motsognir was ;___;

There's nowhere I can't reach.

We have two bards

We don't need three
But... but but but writing bad poetry is so much fun

________

So, 220 HP monster. Which regenerates 10 HP per round unless harmed by fire or acid.

...

Man, this has been one crazy encounter. We've fought the following:
  1. 1 Cave Troll @ 220 HP (what's a Grimmerzhul?)
  2. 1 Duergar Theurge @ 64 HP
  3. 4 Duergar Guards @ 58 HP
  4. 2 Duergar Scouts @ 50 HP
  5. 2 Arbalests
  6. Subtract a level 3 orc leader improvised club, I guess
What level encounter would you consider this (admittedly with a delay mechanism) lineup to be?

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Nah, if we can get 2 days per round, we should be done before Christmas. Pssst, Acerrrrr...

By the way, Shin's post just reminded me that the Horned Hold has many many many windows. Acer, just use your encounter power to shove Gorg out of the big picturesque window which he is totally backed up against!

Pang, I'd like to clear up something. Would my act of igniting my arrows to form improvised fire arrows count as part of the standard attack action (draw from quiver, expose to flame, load on longbow, fire), or would you count it as a minor action? I want to make sure I don't exceed my allotted actions quota when executing our secret plans.

I had the itch to go reread over 3,400 posts worth of "Let's Cast Magic Missile". (Man, I can't believe how ignorant I was). I also noticed I'm being very hypocritical in crying that Pang is trying to kill us, when all my posts prior to my joining the game were egging Pang on to kill the party already.

Anyway! I've gathered together these explanatory icons which you have posted before. Did I get them all, Mr. Pang (can't seem to find the first two icons that are currently on Gorg)?

Huh, never used favorite hmm? I want to use it, I really do! But the stupid manual says I can't be stealthy if I have no cover at the end of my movement

What does "Intimidated" do? Is it like this "Fear" affliction in PHB, where the enemy runs away as fast as it can from you?

Okay, you totally edited in that pixilated spiritual weapon sprite right after I did my editing Anyway, here's an updated doodad you can stick into your opening post or something... (if you can shrink it better than me, that is!)
