Ah, I see. I thought it meant like gaining general insight into the situation at hand no matter what whilst perception was for spotting traps and shit.

I hope everyone's remembering that Bob's mere presence improves their own perceptive skills so don't be afraid to test them!

Also, if one person has tested a skill, can someone else check the same one? I mean, can Bob use history as Soggy already has?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Cool. As it is, Bob could have backflipped over a dragon and accurately sexed it in the same manouver with those rolls.

We're all going to die, aren't we?

If I may be so bold as to suggest a strategy, I reckon we should try to push the walking ones off the cliff, then mop up the flying nasties. I can Magic Missile one a square back but a bit or shuffling around and some bullrushing should do the trick, right?

Which side is the sheer drop again?

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Haha, I didn't notice that. Right then, everyone up against the cliff face and try to shove these guys over. I think Garr has a push-people-back move, possibly LeHah has too and I think either of those options would be infinitely preferable to actually fighting these fuckers.

Garr, I don't believe there's any rule that says a major action has to be the last you perform in a round. You can attack the zombie, then shift back out of the way afterwards if you want to not be standing next to it any more. That does of course mean it can move away from the ledge though...

"Thrown off the cliff" would be less ideal than "strips out of all hsi valuable magic gear so his buddies can sell it on later then throws himself off the cliff". I think as and when Gabe does shuffle off the mortal coil though, it really should be something pretty fucking epic. Maybe once we kill these zombies we get jumped by a storm giant and Gabe stays behind to slow it down while we all escape or something like that.

I see it's Acer's halfling warlock up next. Skexis should probably start warming up his cleric now because I suspect Acer joining the party is going to lead to a lot of fatalities in a very short time frame.

And yeah, I don't really expect Skills to do anything useful.

I noticed there's like three times as many races and character classes available now as there were last time I checked this thread's opening post. Are they all in a largely playable state? We have a fairly vanilla party compared to what one seemingly could put together at the moment in that we're all proper old school Tolkein races and apart from Soggy, fairly bog-standard classes too. Not that it's a bad mix we have by any means, Gabe's a decent enough tank, Soggy manages to do some buffing and healing now and then, Bob's got range and elemental attacks to exploit weaknesses (plus Jedi mind tricks to solve puzzles) and Garrmondo and LeHah are damage dealers.

Not that party balance matters a jot in this game as we're all just in it for a laugh and as likely to get ourselves killed as to be killed by monsters half the time but it'll be interesting to see how the fights go if we get to the point where there are some more unusual character types in. The role playing in these games is second to none and more often than not hilarious though and more than makes up for any on-paper blandness to the group.

I would like to try and engineer it so you're DMing an all-bard party at some point though.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Pang, doesn't the Rotwing's zombie weakness mean the fire blast would have killed it straight up?

Pang, so you're saying you can play hybrids now? Combination of one race with another?

Since you're making a moratorium on human fighters, I'd probably rethink playing as an ordinary old human. What hybrid race would be well-suited towards playing keep-away with bows and arrows (and suck ass in melee)?
We clearly we need more goblins in the party. Or you could be one of those werewolf things and we could all make endless jokes about you being a furry.

So essentially we're relying on Pang either handing out more decent gear or attacking us with enemies that don't have defensive stats of 20+ across the board.

We did try to be all strategic this time round but that fell apart somewhat when Gabe went over the cliff and everyone started making single-digit hit rolls. There was a period in the first dungeon where we were hitting criticals every other shot so it's swings and roundabouts really.

Either that or have lots of enemies with a high AC and lower reflex, fortitude and will scores, which you pretty much have been anyway. Doesn't help Soggy much but the only time Bob is ever going to attack against AC is if he's punching someone and that doesn't happen often.

If only he'd use it now and then, eh?

Of course, you could also help by not throwing enemies who are strong against ice and necrotic damage against a guy whose two encounter powers give out ice and necrotic damage.

Bloody undead, where's some Goblins when you need them?

That's the difference between rpgs on paper and rpgs on computers. The computer doesn't realise when you're trying to achieve a certain optimal build and also isn't necessarily vindictive enough to move to counter it.

Literally the only certain thing determining the accuracy of the players in DnD is the mood of the DM.

We read map coordinates the same way as mathematical grid coordinates. Surely to do otherwise is simply inviting confusion?

Then again, you did decide at some point in history that smallest to largest was far too obvious and sensible a way to write down dates so I guess I shouldn't be surprised that your map reading is similarly cack-handed.

Oh here we go, next you'll be talking shit about our units of measurement.

You know why a foot has 12 inches in it instead of a nice, round 10?

Because fuck you
Um, it's because 12 is easily divisible actually. And that's our system of measurement anyway, we thought of it first. You guys changed a few of the actual weights and shit around, primarily I imagine because drinking a proper pint of beer is too much for your feeble constitutions, but essentially, it's our system and is still the one we use for the most part over here.

Are you seriously throwing down because number + letter is too difficult for you to figure out

does bob need a tampon, brigid may have had some in her pack way back when, should've stocked up discreetly
I wasn't throwing down and it's not hard to read, I've been managing fine thus far. I was simply passing comment that we've all been referencing the squares we're in arse about tit. I did notice it when we first started using maps but thought I'd go with the flow. I mentioned it again there as a way to bulk out a rather empty post more than anything, not realising how fiercely defensive some of you guys are about your deliberately obtuse ways of recording things, be it coordinates, time or weights and measures.

I used Murray as a gravestone already. When Acer turns into a bear, is it a really small bear? Also, I like how some of his rituals are actually useful.

Bob's mastery of the elements and necromancy mean he's still as useful as he ever was thankyou very much, that and the jedi mind tricks.
