I have a lil question for the people who have played the game metal gear solid: portable ops:

Do I need to play mgs3 before playing this one? (in term of story I mean)
Just so ya know, you might want to wait for the new MGS: Portable Ops Plus expansion to be released. What exactly this newer addition adds to the game, I don't know , but I'd imagine it's got little additions and improvements just like every single MGS game they re-release after a year.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

So the latest revision of M33 custom firmware lets you choose the official Sony ISO loader (also known as module NP9660) to play UMD dumps from Memory Stick.

Now here's the thing: NP9660 mode has 100% (!) NO-UMD compatibility, meaning you can now play all games from Memory Stick without a UMD inserted. Not only that, but load times have also decreased significantly compared to the "normal" ISO loader.
So, is this M33 custom firmware currently the latest/best firmware out there? I haven't updated in quite a while, as I think I still have Dark Alex's 3.03 OE-C firmware on mine ...

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

You know what would probably be the most awsomest idea evar. PSN games on the PSP. With full online infrastructure mode. THEN I COULD PLAY CALLING ALL CARS AT MDONALD'S. It's not like it can't do it, right? I heard that you can even play Lair remotely from anywhere that has WiFi...something like that.

So should I get rid of my 3.03 OE firmware and upgrade to M33 finally? Are these new firmwares you guys are talking about exclusive to the Slim PSP's mobo hardware? God I need to break out that thing again...

But isn't the net browser for psp horrible? I've went on this forum through psp and it is horrible somewhat.
Well, I guess I don't really know about browsing or anything like that, but I'm just talking about implementing the little PSN games you can download from the PSN Store onto the PS3. Most of these games don't really push the PS3 to it's limits or anything, and the PSP could probably handle a lot of them fairly well. Hell, I think it would be totally awesome if they integrated the entire full-fledged Playstation Network into the PSP - things like PSN ID's, friend lists, PSN games, everything. Just the thought of playing flOw or Calling All Cars from some random location on my PSP online with my buddy who is on his PS3 at home would be pretty cool. Obviously certain games like Warhawk or that new inFamous game wouldn't work, but I would guess that certain games would, or could anyways.

By breaking out, do you mean "I need to stop acting paranoid" ? Because it really is no big deal in upgrading to m33's cfw. It's safe and the xmb loading isn't bad at all . m33 already has there popsloader thing finished you can now play games that would run on 3.00-3.03 and the rest is safe. Unlucky for me, I dont know where to put the files ,etc so i care less for it,amigo. ^^;
Haha no. 'Breaking out' was just me trying to sound hip and cool . I meant that I haven't pulled out my PSP in a while, and am currently out of the loop (once again) with the whole PSP homebrew thing. I think I basically just need to research for the latest M33 firmware update and just upgrade :/.

I was speaking idiomatically.

I heard that with the 1.50 kernel patch for 3.71, they had to remove some of the other features from the PSP, including the remote play option (which I love ) because of a lack of space...is this true? What advantages does the M33 3.71 have over their 3.52 firmware?

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Hmmm, I'm a little stuck on whether to upgrade or not. I think I'll just stick with 3.52 until I come to a game that requires 3.71 so I don't lose the location free player (that's the thing that lets you view any video, music, pic from your PS3 onto your PSP, right?).

I couldn't find a FFT: The War of the Lions thread...does anybody know if the multiplayer in this game is Ad-Hoc only, or does it implement Infrastructure mode? God this game would be so awesome if it did have online battles / co-op...

Oh. For some reason I had the Remote Play and LocationFree Player features mixed up :/. Thanks for clearing that up.

Just installed 3.71 M33, then 1.50 kernel add-on, then 3.71 M33-2, and finally 1.50 kernel add-on 2. Whew. That took a while, and I don't even know if I necessarily had to install the first two things first to do all that. Oh well. Am I FINALLY up to date with custom firmwares? This is a first...

Just out of curiosity, is there any homebrew that you guys use besides emulators? So far this is the only thing I use, but I guess I haven't really been exposed to anything else, really. I'm open for suggestions, though.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

PLAYSTATION STORE

It's about time.

EDIT:

Quick note: It looks like you'll need to be on a Windows machine to get demos from your PC to your PSP :/.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Hey, did you guys here? PSP 3.80 firmware is out now, and you can play PS1 games via remote play from the PS3, whether they are disc based or downloaded .

Other features:
Quote:
* [Internet Radio] has been added as a feature under [Network].
* The importing of channels in OPML format is now supported under [RSS Channel].
* Photos can now be displayed under [RSS Channel].
* New effects have been added to the visual player under [Music].
I am VERY happy with the PSP -> PS3 Sony connectivity that Sony really seems to be pushing. Christ I need an updated firmware that can utilize all of this ...

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Spoiler:
I don't know if this is official or anything (I doubt it), but I remember reading a long time ago about Sony filing a patent for a Playstation phone...could this possibly be a mock-up of the PSP2?

Anyways, I wonder if anything will surface from GDC, or would that be the wrong place for an announcement...?
