To put Skills' diplomacy attempt into perspective, the Dungeon Master's guide suggests 33 as a "Hard" skill check for 30th-level characters.

I am going to need to edit

some of these maps

Nobody has suggested anything else, really.

Although in my campaign notes I call them "The G-Men"

Yeah, after Skills' interference and meddling Glock is now at 18 HP and quite conscious, but I don't know if he'll still want to go ahead with his Pyrotechnics plan since he's no longer atop the bell.

PS: also added the enemy defenses to post #190, dunno why I keep slipping up on that.

Ayup.

LeHah PMed me to let me know he had personal issues that precluded him spending time on the game, and Cette (who would have been next in line) is awfully flaky in terms of uh being on the board with any regularity at all.

At least we got through one whole battle without a roster change.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Strictly speaking the rule is that you're not allowed to shift allies without their consent at all.

However, the obvious delay-of-game it would produce to ask permission every single time is prohibitive in a PbP format. So we took a vote on it at one point and basically everyone agreed to dance on each others' puppet strings.

The critical bonus on a weapon applies to all of its attacks, though, not just the basic.

Anyway the solution is that the base attack was supposed to be +10 the whole time and I typoed it. So, mystery solved.

And yes, loading a longbow is a free action so don't sweat it

[Unsleeping Watcher] implies I will take all the watches.
Well it seems obvious if you put it that way yeah

Pang, I'd like to confirm something about range.
Bow range: what he said ^

Vision distance: this isn't really covered by the rules much. For distances more than 50 squares or so to even be plausible we'd have to be operating on a much larger scale than your typical dungeon. For the most part you can assume that if you have line-of-sight to something you can see it. Duergar have the same visual range as any other humanoid, but they see better in the dark.

If you know where an enemy is but can't see him, he has total concealment, which imposes a -5 to hit.

Cannons, psh. We already established there's no sulfur in the area to make powder with.

PS here's your up-to-date map

About half a dozen, all incoming on roughly the same trajectory.

In fairness half the core Final Fantasy bestiary is the 1E monster manual with the serials filed off, not everybody's going to realize that an Otyugh and NAOCHO are the same thing.

And a readied action only stays "readied" until your next turn.

You guys just went along with whatever Zerg suggested so you can blame him when it goes tits-up, admit it

They are enemies and technically living things (sort of) so you cannot occupy their squares

Can someone explain to me the persistent notion that going prone is somehow helpful in firing a longbow

His melee attack sucks anyway.
Especially now that he threw out a perfectly good longsword in favor of a specialized weapon that sounded fancier.

Also, a question. What kind of checks do we make if we want to pick up opponents and toss them over the bridge?
Well, you can either make a grab attempt and drag them over the abyss, or you can just bull rush them. Both of these things rely heavily on Strength, though. The rules for Grab are a little complex to sum up but read PHB p. 287 if you're curious.

It's a strength vs. reflex attack. I gave you their reflex stats already.

Do you propose, dear Zergrinch, when Acer tells me of his cunning plan (as he was fool enough to do), that I do not immediately act to minimize its impact?

Do you not notice when I herald the impending introduction of reinforcements in the very first round?

Celebrate while you may.

Explain what you mean by "other Defenders"?
