I am suprised by this as he seemed like a very likeable guy in the interviews I have seen him do. He didn't appear to be the anti-social type at all.

My I ask what your source is on this information?

Did anyone remember what some of the slides said or showed....I'm sure if I looked right now, someone has alright gotten frame by frame pictures of the brainwashing, but I don't have the time. I only really remember something like, "Change is good."
I downloaded the episode to watch so I have just re-watched that scene and here are the messages in order of appearance:-

''Plant a good seed and you will joyfully gather fruit''

''Everything Changes''

''We are the causes of our own suffering''

''God loves you as he loves Jacob''

''Think about your life''

Those were the only ones that I could make out. There were a couple of other messages reflecting off the walls, but I couldn't make out enough letters to make words.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Did anyone pick up on the ultrasound scans, she said it looked like a woman in her 70's, then the guy turned round and said that she is 26. Does anyone of the island match this description?
Regarding the ultrasound scans of the 26 year old women, I first thought that it could be Claire (the australian women in case anyone has forgotten). However, on the wikipedia page for the character here, it says that she is early 20s, so indicating that she is not 26. Than again, the wikipedia page may be inaccurate.

When are they going to show a Ben flash back, I was really hoping they'd do some while he was on the operating table. Any flash back of Alex's should tell us alot about the goings on of the island...unless she has.......amnesia!! DUM DUM DEEEEERR!!!
I am still waiting to see a flashback of the frenchwomen Danielle, I always thought that could be interesting.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I dunno, I thought it was a good episode but I'm afraid they keep biting off more than they can chew, and time travel is something that even dedicated time travel movies have trouble explaining.
I felt that the show has been doing this for quite a while now. I just hope that the writers can eventually rationalise things in a decent fashion.

Alias (also made by JJ Abrams) went down the road of becoming too complicated for it's own good, this was basically because they ran out of reasonable storylines.

I like all of the incrediably strange things on Lost, however I would like it to be explained fully eventually, and most importantly for it to make sense.

Looks like Kate and Co. won't hesitate to go into the living quarters next week. Excited.
I haven't seen any previews of next weeks episode. I would predict there will be an episode where it fills in the blanks of Jack being taken to the Others barracks.

Edit:- I have just seen a preview of next weeks episode and I'm so excited about it - looks like everything points to Jack being a scumbag.

I would predict that he is playing along with conforming so that he can do some damage once he has gained their trust. However, it could be many things. For all we know, he could have been hypnotised.

This preview here is pretty exciting..

This episode was okay, but I kind of don't understand the hype about it. There have been better episodes. Sure, the flashback was kinda good and there were some more or less exciting moments, but overall, I noticed Jack is becoming an even bigger asshole than he's already been, that Danielle still hasn't seen a fucking haircutter and Sayid still hasn't laughed for four fucking episodes. New episode, old stuff.
Yeah, these are very similar to my thoughts as well.

I don't really understand why everyone is praising this episode so much. It wasn't anything absolutely ground-breaking. Also, the issue with Jack joining the others wasn't touched upon enough - that conversation that he had with kate in the games room was irritating.
We already knew that Jack had made a deal with the Ben to let him go home. What I wanted to know was why he was acting so friendly (aka playing football) with the very people who have just held him prisoner for so many days.

Also, I am certainly not going to get excited about this episode when one of the new things mentioned is a 'Magic Box in the Jungle'!

But don't forget about Jack. Wow, what a jack-ass he has become, I can't believe it. Has he ever laughed in the last few episodes? What an idiot.
Yeah, I completely agree with you about Jack. He has now become as emotional as a block of wood and his behavior is also really predictable now. He always uses that one facial expression to justify everything he does as well. At least before he had some personality and emotion with his anger towards the others keeping him prisoner. (see beggining of series 3).

Now, he really does seem Lost.

Also, at the beggining of the series (1 and 2) he has always assumed this heroic leader of the group. His decision of trying to leave the Island without any of the group is strange and slightly contradictory. However, I have recently discovered that this is partly due to being heartbroken with the Kate/Sawyer intimacy.

Also, they were basically killed off because everyone hated them, so I very much doubt they would be brought back as a plot point.
I am really glad they are dead as well - nasty people. However that type of death still makes me feel a bit sick.

Regarding Jack and Sawyer, I was quite supreised to see them evolve a handshake into a short lived friendly embrace, after all the fueds they have had. haha

I dunno if you caught it, but during the part where the house shook, you can see a figure in the chair for a few frames.
I just re-watched that scene and managed to catch a picture of him (see attached photo)

Trigunnerz: I 've just re-watched the swimming pool flashback and you can hear a little kid saying ''Desmond, come on!'' as you said. Good Observation!

I thought this episode was ok but I was a bit annoyed that we didn't get to see the showdown this week: after all, thats what the preview last week implied.

I think it's clear that Naomi's people don't intend to rescue the Losties but giving away their true intention would've been a cooler cliffhanger than a depressed Jack.
It depends though because it's a good cliffhanger in the sense that everyone will be wondering what direction the shows going in now: If we knew what Naomi's bunch wanted than there probably would be less guessing and less theories until the season 4. A bit like the cliffhanger to the first series, when they discover the hatch: the only thing we knew about it was that it was pretty deep.

Anyway, after seeing the episode I have been thinking about the whole alternative reality thing: it defnately interests me. Jacks life before the plane crash was pretty awful, as we already know, however, there must be something seriously wrong with everything now, especially for him to see the island as an alternative.
In terms of the whole, his dad still being alive thing: I see the possibility that from all the drinking etc, he could be speaking gibberish. For example, when he says to the doctor "Go and get my father from upstairs, if he is more drunk than me...."...this could be a rash outburst of bitterness but I'm really not sure.

And what about the fact that we saw Jack's Dad on the Island in Season 1 as well as the coffin being empty?

lol - I might just re-watch both episodes to see if I can pick anything else up: there is quite a bit to think about anyway.

How ya doing, buddy?

They may be referring to the time Jack told that guy to talk to his dad and see if he was drunker... but who knows, maybe by "upstairs" he meant heaven. :P
Ok, i initially said that jack said ''upstairs'', this was my mistake: i have just rewatched it and he actually just says ''get my father down here'' which is a bit different obviously.

I'm also kinda miffed that they killed Tom. Man, he was cool, probably my favourite Other. I would've liked to see him as a regular character.
I was especially annoyed with Tom being killed as well although with this being Lost, he might not definately be dead. H eprobably will be though as Sawyer shot him in the chest. Anyway, if he is dead, I think it is a real missed oppurtunity for that character to be developed.

I have a question regarding the first part of the finale: what was jack reading about in the newspaper on the plane and later in the car on the bridge?

I was speaking idiomatically.

News about discontinuation of Crystal Pepsi (an obituary of Crystal Pepsi, if you will).
haha. The thing is, I doubt that news would even be printed if Lost is considered up to date and modern (wasn't crystal Pepsi a 90s thing), also I don't think it would upset jack so much.
