Aw man, that finale left me wanting more, it was like "that was it!?!" Not enough! Man, now we have to wait till next season for the answers.

Spoiler:
Like why'd Locke do what he did, just what does he know now. What Charlie learned before shortly dying (assuming that was it from him), that it's not Penny's boat. So now I wanna know is just who Naomi is (could Ben have been right?). The flashback, or foreshadowing, was rather interesting giving us a look into the Jack's future. Oh and WTF?!? Why won't Mikhail die!?!

Is next season the last for series? Cause remember hearing that series is near the end.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I read somewhere that they signed for [I think] three more seasons. Apparently they're only going to be 16 episodes each though, I guess to appease the masses. They don't want to have all the complaints like they did this year with the "6 episodes, 3 month break, 16 more episodes" thing.

It seems like it's getting really close to an 'end', though, so I don't know how they're going to pull off three more seasons.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I don't know, I thought season 2 was much, much better. I saw it all on a friend's burned DVDs though, so I didn't have to deal with all the breaks I heard they took between new episodes.

Spoiler:
The finale was pretty good, although I wasn't crazy about the very end. It was an interesting twist, but it makes me worry about how season 4 will go. Honestly I was kind of hoping that Ben was right and they'd all have to make a run for it.

The only real disappointment about this episode was Charlie's death though. There was no reason at all for him to lock himself in that room and drown. None. If they're going to kill off one of the best characters then they should have his death at least make sense. Penny's statement didn't even prove anything. Is a (theoretically) high-ranking person supposed to know the first names of every helicopter pilot on every freighter?

Oh, and Hurly hitting that guy with the bus was the best moment all season. I couldn't stop laughing at that.

I'm kind of shocked, because I was really into this episode until the last few minutes. I feel disappointed, and I know that was the opposite feeling that the writers had in mind.

I mean, I understand why they did it, but I just don't know how they are going to format the show for now on. Are they going to completely forget about the last few seconds when they write Season 4 i.e. like they did with everything that was revealed in the Season 2 finale? My guess is yes.

I'll have to watch the episode again, but this is the very first time that I've had a genuine concern for LOST.

I know a lot of people probably loved this finale, but I did not.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Lost apparently has 3 more seasons to go... and about the Finale.

Spoiler:
So Jack's father is still alive? Remember when doped Jack said to get his father up here -- see if he's more drunk... I'm thinking this is a lame alternative reality.

Wow. The end of that finale crushed me.

I am trying to deny the fact that they get rescued. I keep hoping for a Butterfly Effect kind of situation.

Whose funeral did Jack attend? Whose funeral were Jack and Kate talking about attending? Did anyone else totally see Kate getting out of the car coming?

I believe Ben when he says they shouldn't have called.

The guy on the other end of the phone thingie was all too eager to come and get them. Bunch of bullshit.

I forsee a major show-down before they all get rescued - if they get rescued at all.

Hurly got a standing ovation at the house here. Everyone (including the French guests who also watch Lost religiously) applauded and shouted when Hurly saved the beach camp. And Sayid with that leg move! WOO!

I am with Tritoch, though. I don't want anyone to leave the island. What are they going to return to? =/

At the same time, Christian Shepard (Jack's dad) wrote an oxycodone prescription for him - which I believe requires you to, you know, be an actual doctor. I could be wrong, though. ^_^'

And I won't believe Charlie is dead until Season 4 confirms it.
Spoiler:
I think Charlie crossing himself was the finishing move.

I think it was Ben's funeral. More a guess than anything, but I think Jack probably felt that, as his life was spiraling downward, the man he could connect with the most is now, unfortunately, dead.

The prescription was only signed as Dr. Shephard though, and Jack didn't want them to confirm it. That seems to indicate pretty strongly that his father is still dead.

I thought spoilers were necessary in a thread for a day or two at least since the thread title doesn't have "SPOILERS" in it.

Okay, here are the two theories that have been thrown around me and my group since the ending-

1. Parallel universe. This would explain Jack's dad being alive. I think that the ending is a cheat, and plays up an alternate dimension sort of thing, and next season we're gonna open up to either Locke stopping the rescue from happening, or Ben being right and the castaways get their shit ruined. The flash-forward parallel universe could be if Jack was right. Season 4 opens with Jack being dead wrong and there's an all-out Dharma/Others/Castaway war.

2. It really did happen, but only a few people get rescued. Those being Jack, Kate, Claire, Aaron, Sawyer, and Ben. Why I think it was them - Jack and Kate for obvious reasons. Sawyer because Kate says "I have to get home, he's waiting." Claire and Aaron because that's what Desmond saw, and Ben because he was in the coffin. Neither friend nor family? Nobody went? Two big signs right there. Sign three - Jack didnt want to leave the island, and Ben is the ONLY one who could get him back. Now, for whatever reason, the other islanders are stuck. Probably because Ben and Locke keep them there because they want to stay.

This episode has completely thrown me for a loop. I don't know where the hell they are going to take it, and I honestly think that either of my theories could work.

I had a few gripes with this episode, like the BIG ANSWER TO DOES JACK LOVE KATE was revealed in the most anti-climactic way possible. He's just like "hey love u k bye lol." COME THE FUCK ON!!! WHERE ARE THE EMOTIONS?!?!?!?!

The other being another magical John Locke escape. First it was the hatch, and now it's the 10-foot fucking grave, complete with fucked legs and a gun shot wound to the gut. I want some answers.

Also, very VERY interesting that Ben mentioned "the temple" when talking to that guy, Richard I think his name was.

Man... This disappointing season has given me one of the more insane season finales ever. Not sure if I like it or not, but it's certainly got my mind moving in circles.

I think, some time in one of the next couple of seasons, Locke, Desmond and Mikhail (who I'm affectionately calling "the Weirdos" from now on) will all get together and die in a dramatic way.

But seriously, I think Desmond will get off the island.

I think Mikhail and all the original island inhabitants are immortal somehow. Seriously. That guy can't fucking die.

Also, I felt Charlie's death was extremely anti-climactic. I wanted to see him drown from something he couldn't escape from. While I understand it was a moral choice on his part or whatever, it still didn't feel as emotional as it could have.

"Not Penny's Boat"

Now THAT was interesting. It adds to my parallel universe theory.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

I'm going to agree that Charlie's death was really poorly directed. They tried to make it seem like he sacrificed himself, but it looked as if he could have escaped with Desmond.

Besides that and the last few minutes, this truly was an amazing episode. Mikhail is my favorite character next to Locke.

EDIT: Speaking of Locke, what is going on with him almost shooting himself? The suicide attempt seemed to be a little out of character.

He keeps trying and failing; that is the nature of Locke. He tried to get the upper hand with Ben, and ended up flat on his back with a bullet through his chest FTL...

The second I saw Hurley spring up behind Sawyer and Juliette I said to the people I was watching it with,

Spoiler:
Hurley is going to go get the bus and crash right through the others. And he did. Yay! Best scene of the episode for sure, just proves that even Hurley isn't useless due to his optimism.

Where Lost was faltering previously, I feel the last 5 or so episodes including this finale have finally steered it back onto a viable track. Viewers definitely got some "satisfaction" with this season finale, even if they might have disliked a few specifics here & there...

Not to disagree or anything, but I am kind of glad it was without emotion. I think the emotions were just far too strained all along, and that "I love you" from Jack was essentially him letting go of Kate.

Notice she didn't tell him she loved him back. (I really hate Jack, so I am a little biased here ;_; )

Now that you mention it, that seems really contradictory to the direction they've taken Jack lately. He's been built up as some crazy, angry stalker by every one of his flashbacks this season, yet he just let's Kate go like that? Seems like he should be harboring a lot more of a grudge still.

Why would you think that? (That wasn't meant to sound as rude as it does in text ;_; ) After all he did in Ben's surgery to help Kate and Sawyer escape?

I think he was a really big man for that, no matter how much I dislike him. I was worried that he may take a turn for the worse there, but he didn't. I think Jack is much more afflicted with saving people - maybe Kate has been saved in a way?

True, his actions on the island support that. It just leads me to question even more why they've shown us all this stuff with Jack hounding his ex-wife, turning to alcohol and painkillers (past and future), stalking and having wild flings with random asian tattoo girls, and generally being an unlikable bastard to everyone but his patients. Usually the flashbacks have some link to the episode, but Jack's never seemed to in the third season.

I totally agree with that, yes. I think it's why I've come to dislike him. The whole Thailand episode (I think it was Thailand? Correct me if I am wrong =D ) just explained away a tattoo that could have been explained in a few sentences when the Other Psych asked him about it, I guess.

But they certainly have taken him in an entirely different journey. Maybe they've set us up to not trust his position as a "leader" so much? I know it worked for me. I wouldn't want that guy directing me. ^_^

I'm curious about 'the temple' that Ben mentioned, though. Is it the place where 'Jacob' lives? Or another Dharma station perhaps? I don't know, but just the fact that it's called the temple intrigues me.

A lot of good ol' music come back on this finale episode, with a little variation.
I like the episode very much and have the "that was it?" feeling at the end. However, I'm excited to look forward to the next season. A few thoughts though
Spoiler:
Damn, Ben does live up to his reputation, doesn't he! He made me want to believe him that Naomi was a "bad guy."

I think the writers are pretty wise when picking Charlie, for he was supposed to die in the first season. He has never been remembered by the good things he did (for instance throwing the drug to the fire), but always be remembered by the bad things (like he did with Claire). So his dying actually make him a bigger person. Although I hope the plot will twist again and he will live.

I really like the set of additional characters, picking up from season 2 such as Des, Ben, now with Julliete, Mikhail or Pen ... I still miss Mr Eko and Ana Lucia

Lastly, Walt grows so fast in 10, 20 something days. That's ridiculously hillarious.

Charlie closed the door not necessarily to sacrifice himself, but the timing between Penny appearing on screen, Desmond seeing it, and Mikhail pulling the pin was perfect. His thought process was that Desmond wasn't going to let Charlie keep him out of that room and he had no time to explain. Shutting the door from the inside was the only way.

The second the episode started and Jack had that beard, I had a lingering thought throughout the episode that this was NOT a flashback. But, nah, they wouldn't do that would they? Reveal if they'd get off the island or not? I'm not buying any off this alternate reality stuff. What's I think is going to happen is we'll see the character's off the island and the flashbacks are going to be to the island, at least for the beginning of season four.

It's a bit strange, I still don't know whether the end to the season was satisfying or not.
It's kind of like finishing a visual novel game on the first run. You're still clueless on most of the insights but the basic goal was reached.
Also disappointing that the last scene took away so much suspense in terms of who's most likely NOT going to die anytime soon.
I think it's clear that Naomi's people don't intend to rescue the Losties but giving away their true intention would've been a cooler cliffhanger than a depressed Jack.

There's nowhere I can't reach.
