I'm in!

Let's go with... #9.

I just realized a tiny flaw with the type selection. Seeing that you guys don't know what type everyone else is using. And I do since I created the list. Would you be ok if I just reveal the selected types for each person? Do you care?
I don't care if you know who's what type. I say keep it a secret, maybe only announce what type you are to everyone (then we know your type and you know ours, but no one else knows any other's type).

EDIT: In any case, the sooner we know our types, the better. I need to get to work right away on my team, so could we maybe PM you for our type, Kai? Or have you not assigned types to the numbers yet?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Oh, I missed that in your opening post. Right then, Sousuke, I hope you picked me an interesting type!

ADDENDUM: Damn you, Sousuke!

There's nowhere I can't reach.

The level 100 option means that level 100 pokemon will remain the same, and all pokemon level 99 and below are boosted to level 100. They obviously won't evolve your pokemon for you though, so make sure your choices are at least fully evolved before participating.

Matches are usually set up at a time that's convenient for both parties. If you think your hours are going to be too weird for anyone to be able to work with you, then you may want to consider not participating. Most of us are pretty flexible on the weekends, though.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

My type is certainly interesting, but the list is kind of small and isn't full of the big names. Sadly, it was pretty much the only type I wasn't going to be excited to see.

Makes it fun, though!

I've got Heracross for a no-brainer, but the rest of the list is a little trickier for me.

How ya doing, buddy?

Drapion's Poison/Dark, so that's a no-go. He loses his Bug type when he evolves. Scizor's okay, but... actually, I'd rather not talk about my strategy.

Josiah, I imagine that Double Team is banned. It usually is because of cheapness. Besides, it's actually really easy to hit Shedinja this generation.

I've been working my butt off since the last of my finals wrapped up yesterday, and I have about half of my team ready (excluding reserves, which I don't think I'll have time for). Some of you will be seeing me really soon! ...Others (notably the, uh, Flying and Rock leaders) will probably have to approach me first.

I have something lined up for an av/sig theme, too.

If I can finish this one pokemon before then, rad, I'll fight you in a 3 vs. 3. This should be a little difficult, but I'll do my best!

EDIT: Okay, I won't be able to finish that one guy, but I'll go ahead and fight you anyway, rad. I'll register your friend code now and be here at around 3 PM PST (6 PM EST).

Additional Posting of Excellent Quality:
Well, I lost 0-3 against the Fire Gym. Knowing that fire is coming every single turn meant that I was completely paralyzed in terms of switching, so once a person was out, they stayed until dead (ie, they didn't stay out long). Needless to say, very difficult match! I better got a hold of some real hold items by next match, too. Leftovers on my Heracross-that-got-OHKOd-every-time isn't exactly useful!

I lost 9, he lost 4-5. Can't remember.

How ya doing, buddy?

I guess I'll also be up for a match, if anyone's interested.

EDIT: I should mention that I'm still only available for 3 vs. 3 until tomorrow. Sorry about that, Chaotic.

EDIT: ...and Icy, and Kai, and...

Icy and I had our match not that long ago, with the matchup ending in victory for him, 3-0. The only thing I can boast about is... that I never got swept, I guess. Otherwise I was pretty much bested in most ways.

Results:

Match 1
Pretty unremarkable. We shuffled between two or three pokemon for the first half of the match, exchanging various status effects. The turning point was probably when I accidentally tried to inflict a status effect on a pokemon of his that was already statused!
I lost 6, Icy lost 2.

Match 2
The closest match, and I believe the longest. It appeared that he had only one pokemon that could effectively counter one of mine, but he got the job done.
I lost 3, he lost 1.

Match 3
Pretty uneventful. Brought back in the big gun he left out in the second match, and he finished the job the moment Icy switched him in.
I lost 3, he lost 1.

I had an idea yesterday, but I didn't write it down. Crap.

I'll try to remember what it was. It had something to do with weight...

I should be available most of tomorrow, if anyone is interested in battle. I'm pretty much finished with my pokemon, but my hold items still suck. :\

I'll do my best.

You should have heard my "Nooooooooooo!" when Halo came out during your Sand Veil, Kai. He was promptly removed from my party for the last two matches.

I remembered what my idea for a new tournament was. How about we have it so everyone must build a team from pokemon that have to be able to learn one specific move (excluding Rain Dance and things like that)? Like, all pokemon must be able to learn Spikes (they don't have to have it learned, they just need to be able to learn it in order to be eligible).

Or add on to that and make a variety of different restrictions people must follow-- like, say, pokemon must weigh within 150-250 pounds, pokemon must be 2-4 feet high, pokemon must be categorized as red in color, etc.

I think you may have noticed what I did wrong in that first battle, and I just threw a fit afterwards and flung whatever I could at you. Man, that was tough.

Mind over metathorax:

Match 1 - 6 vs. 6
Interesting opener. It was very strategic at first, with both of us exchanging KOs for the first two pokemon. His third finished the rest, though.
Winner: Crash

Match 2 - 3 vs. 3
SHEDDY SWEEP
Recommended viewing material on the matter.
Winner: GB

Match 3 - 3 vs. 3
My God, was his leader fast. Not swept, but he had some fun with my guys before his leader finally went down. His number 2 handled the rest.
Winner: Crash

Match 4 - 3 vs. 3
Not much I could do to prepare, so I tried to stall long enough for a certain strategy. Unfortunately, luck would have nothing to do with it. Crash pulled out one last surprise to make sure I never saw his third and final pokemon.
Winner: Crash

Winner (overall): Crash
Crash lost six pokemon, GB lost 12.

Great matches, Crash.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

You actually would have won if you hadn't switched out at the very end like you did. I'll explain it to you in a PM.

But luck was definitely on your side through most of these. Waking up on the first turn after being put to sleep, two Quick Claw activations in a row, a critical Quick Attack right at the end, and lord knows how many times you were able to hit with Air Slash before it finally missed.

Excellent matches!

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Ah, okay. Still, I think if you are able to use all the other moves that prevent someone from attacking (paralyze, frozen, etc.) then one should be able to use sleep as well. If you can use items, shouldn't you just be able to use an item to cure it, anyways?
You can't use items; you can only give pokemon hold items before the battle. In this regard though, yes, you can have a pokemon cure itself of status effects by giving it a Lum Berry (a few competitors here have utilized at least one, including myself).

And as the Bug representative of this tournament, I can assure you that sleep has not been as useful as it should be. This can be attributed to my bad luck, the surprisingly small amount of viable Bug pokemon that can use support strategies well, and the extremely unorthodox setup of the competition.
