Free Malware Program?
Know any good or free malware programs?
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
You mean antimalware? Right off the bat there's Ad-Aware, probably the most common free one I know of.
If you're actually looking for malware, just open up Internet Explorer and start browsing the Internet. You're bound to pick up something eventually. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
I can only find one... ewido... but that's not free
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |

Get spybot and spyware blaster, they're free.
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
I alraedy have spybot... and it's not really working... at least I ALWAYS find the following with spybot
http://img109.imageshack.us/img109/6182/15rt3.jpg And even if I start scanning again 5 minutes later, I still get them and fix them <.< It's not like I'm visiting any sites during this time oO Someone told me that maybe I need a anti-malware program.. hmm I'll check out spyware blaster I was speaking idiomatically. |

Run the scan in safe mode, it should get rid of it. Enable spybot teatimer as well and you should be fine.
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
HijackThis is a great program, but make sure you know what you're doing before you use it.

I'll second Ad-aware, and look i found a link for you
I also like Spyware Doctor, not free, but there are ways round that. I've also found that using Firefox has reduced malware on my PC, you might want to give it a try, if not using it already. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? ![]() |
Okay, I decided to post my scan for the day using ewido... I'm using Mozilla and I thought I would get less "spyware" than with IE... but it's confusing as each day I get over 70 results and mostly all with Mozilla... anyone know what thoe are?
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
If I'm correct they are just cookies. They keep a track of the web sites that you have visited, and they don't harm your computer, they just take up a small amount of space on your hard drive.
The best thing for you to do would be to either GoTo Tools > Options > Privacy in Firefox. You will see an option towards to lower part of the box that says "keep cookies". Set this to "until i close Firefox" and this will delete all of the cookies each time you close down Firefox. If you do this, visit a few websites and then exit Firefox, and then run ewido the result should come back clean. This image shows you the box that should appear to change your cookie settings. ![]() Or you could ask What are Cookies? This will give you more information on what these files are and what they do. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() |
When your running spybot, something is either preventing them from being deleted (safe mode windows, as someone else mentioned, should allow them to be deleted), or a program is running in the background (or a modded windows file) which is restoring them after they are being deleted.
If it is the latter, I am sorry to say I don't know how to fix that. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?
