Your Favourite Music Videos (Now With Videos!)

So i made this thread like last year but thats to the advent of youtube and stuff i thought it would be a better idea to make it again, since some of the coolest videos are rarely shown :[

Heres a few i've always found pretty neat.

Royksopp - Remind Me

Daft Punk - Around The World

Radiohead, UNKLE, Dj Shadow - Rabbit In Your Headlights

Radiohead - Street Spirit

I know these are pretty well known, but still awesome.

Also, if you're interested, you can go out and buy the Director's Label Series Boxed Sets which have the work of a bunch of rad directors.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

T.N.T - My Religion

The video was only made back in '04 but with the bands low income and its almost home-video quality, it is hardly anything that you could call spectacular unless of course you dig the 1980's heavy metal-style videos.

Tony Harnell's voice is top notch in the song.

Starbreaker - Lies

Another Tony Harnell video . This time its from it's from his most recent band 'Starbreaker.

The images of Bush and what-not in the video were actually added againt Harnell's wishes. He told me (he actually visits his forum) that it was the video companys decision to add those and not his because he didn't want the message of the song to be figured out so easily.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I love this one, so sinister and eerie. Radiohead's made such great videos, my favorite is probably "High and Dry."

The Smashing Pumpkins - Tonight, Tonight
My favorite band, one of their best singles, and the video is irresistibly whimsical.

A Perfect Circle - 3 Libras
Another one of my favorite singles, and a pretty haunting video. Paz Lenchantin playing the violin at the end is a cool touch, too.

Death Cab For Cutie - A Movie Script Ending
Lovely video with a unique concept. I love the faded colors and the way it's shot.

My favorite video ever is Give It Away by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. It captures the energy of the song like no other. As far as music videos go, I think this is one of the best ever made.

Supercar's - Be

It puts any music video to shame. Here is a link for it. It is basically a Miike movie packed into a 5 minute music video and is about a football player who every time he misses a goal, a yakuza hitman kills off someone he has met in his life.

enjoy

My top 3 in order

Michael Jackson's Thriller Say what you will about Mike, but the song and choregraphy kick ass. It's not just some random ass assortment of flashes.

Michael Jackson's Smooth Criminal (Moonwalker Version) Same as above. The dancing kicks ass. And Emmanuel Lewis makes a cameo! Genesis Does

a-ha Take On Me It's said to be the first true "music video" and goddammit it's one of the best. I can't get enough of how well put together it is.

Everytime I've seen it ressurected and shown on MTV or VH1 they label it as such, but after some short and painless research I see this is not true. (That's what I get for trusting that source.)

One of my favorites right now is Kaizers Orchestra - Knekker deg til Sist (Break you in the End). The song was one of my instant faves off their latest album, and the video is appropriately wierd and wonderful. YOU MUST WATCH THIS. /band whoring

I'm no Fatboy Slim fan, but I am a huge Walken fan, so I (and a lot of other people) really love the Fatboy Slim - Weapon of Choice video. Simply. Amazing. And hilarious.

Pearl Jam's Do The Evolution is also a phenomenal music video. So much crammed into such a crazily animated music vid is one of the things that made me want to be an animator at one time.

And it's terrible, but I really enjoy watching David Lee Roth - Yankee Rose. The beginning is so deliciously 80s and cheesy, and watching Roth leap around in creepy spandex is hilarious.

God damn you Ark, I was gonna post that Fatboy Slim video. ;_;

Another one I like is System of a Down - Spiders. My favorite SoaD song and a cool video to go with it.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Yeah, I was actually kind of surprised that nobody had gotten around to mentioning it yet. But I didn't even know that there was a Spiders video -- thanks for mentioning it. I've lived life without cable/satellite/etc. for a good 16 years, so I'm rather out of touch with most music videos (before I got high-speed internet, anyways).

Totally agree with Smashing Pumpkins' "Tonight, Tonight". It's such a gorgeous video - I never get tired of watching it. I was going to mention "Weapon of Choice" as well. LOL.

A couple of my favorite music videos are:

The Police - Every Breath You Take. Another gorgeous video, one of my favorite songs and bands of all time.

U2 - Stay (Faraway, So Close). Ditto. This is my favorite U2 song of all time, and this was U2 at their (IMHO) peak. How I wish I would've been older during the whole "Achtung Baby"/Zoo TV era.

Stan Bush - The Touch Anyone a fan of Transformers and/or cheesy songs owe it to themselves to view this.

Hammerfall - Hearts on Fire this is the original video featuring CG skeletons. The alternate version with the women's Swedish curling team is pretty damned hilarious.

Tool - Sober Tool always does some great work on videos, but this is the first one I saw, and the one that I've enjoyed the most.

Pearl Jam - Jeremy Pearl Jam's classic stuff. Do The Evolution is another I'd list, but it's been taken. This is one that was a fairly big deal in it's day and gets it's point across well.

I know there should be a whole bunch more that I could think of, but I can't at the moment.

I doubt any of these are obscure; in fact, they're likely well-known. However, this is probably due to the quality and originality. And for someone who's never seen them, it's a nice surprise. I also haven't watched a ton of music video television in my life, so I'm apt to only know the more popular videos.

Jamiroquai - Virtual Insanity - It's pretty cool how they designed the set to slip and move about, seemingly defying physics.

Massive Attack - Teardrop - Yes, it's the theme song to "House". But it's also a rather disturbing, yet curious and peaceful video. One of my personal faves.

Bjork - It's Oh So Quiet - This video's pretty popular but hasn't been mentioned yet. I dig the pseudo-Broadway transitions.

Jane's Addiction - Been Caught Stealing - Just fuckin' awesome. Who wouldn't want to stumble into a disco party at their local 7-11? This video is legend.

Lit - Miserable - It gets no points for whoring Pamela Anderson out even further but everything else about the video is quality. One of the better concepts from the 90s.

Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers - Don't Come Around Here No More - One of the breakthrough videos of the 80's. Kinda trippy but with huge 80's pop kitsch.

The Buggles - Video Killed the Radio Star - Yeah, it's definitely low budget but all videos were in 1980. Yet at that time, most music videos consisted of the band on stage and maybe some differently colored lights. The Buggles changed that and even today, this one's still an interesting watch.

The Cars - You Might Think - Definitely one of the greats of all-time.

The Verve - Bittersweet Symphony - I highly enjoyed the concept behind this video.

Donald Fagen - Snowbound - This one's more obscure but I thought it was pretty cool. To be honest, I'd only seen it twice before tonight. I searched YouTube for it on a whim and got lucky.

Filter - Take A Picture - This one may not be in everyone's list but I thought it was fantastic. Tons of imagery and vibrant color.

Beastie Boys - Intergalactic - This one is pure hilarious. Probably even better than "Sabotage".

Tool - Prison Sex - I'm surprised nobody mentioned this yet.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Red Hott Chilli Peppers - Californication - A great video that plays out like a video game.

Nik Kershaw - The Riddle - This video seems to serve as a pastiche of cheesy 80s videos, from the crazy use of props to the hair and the cheap special effects. Nice song but weird video.

I'll try and think of some other ones later, these two are what came to mind though (The first cuz it rocks, and the second because I had listened to the song earlier).

Awsome thread Pom! I freaking LOVE music videos and there are already so many great ones listed! Aaah! I'll try not to go overboard here, let's see:

You Make Me Want To Be A Man -- Utada. Most probebly the best Sci-fi/Cyberpunk music video I've ever seen. Period.

Believe -- The Chemical Brothers. There's something oddly humorous about a deranged machine chasing to hurt some poor sap.

Androgyny -- Garbage. Men & women getting all mixed up together and still making the video look slick over all.

Passion -- Utada Hikaru. This video is simply stunning. There's a very "other-wordly" quality to it.

Closer -- Nine Inch Nails. I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet. It's so wonderfully demented.

Sakura Drops -- Utada Hikaru. Another very creative video. Looks extremely surreal. Almost like a painting. The low quality doesn't do it justice. :__:

Smack My Bitch Up -- Prodigy. Another great video that has remained surprisingly absent from this thread.

Traveling -- Utada Hikaru. This one's so lush & vivid, yet it's so cracked out!

The Dope Show -- Marilyn Manson. I think I like this video the best outta the one's he's made. There's just something freakishly cool about that eerie sexless suit he's wearing.

Hikari -- Utada Hikaru. This one's great cause it just has SO MUCH going on, you don't even know where to look.

Filthy Gorgeous -- Scissor Sisters. Men, women, drag-queens and who knows what else all tossed into a crazy mix. Good times.

Smiley -- Ai Otsuka. The Hawaiian dancers are priceless. Also, it's so summery. Perfect for the current season.

Slow -- Kylie Minogue. Another summer video full of lush colors.

Go My Way -- Hitomi Yaida. The ending for this video is one the most amazing things I've ever seen.

Easy Breezy -- Utada. Quirky song, colorful, summery video.

Hell Yes -- Beck. DANCING ROBOTS.

Connected -- Ayumi Hamasaki. Another Cyberpunk-ish video. This one's fully animated.

Paranoid Android -- Radiohead. Another classic that just needs to be on the list.

Good lord! I think I'll stop now before I just end the thread by linking ALL of youtube on here.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?
