Online degrees - Yay or Nay?

So I was talking to this teacher the other day and he told me that he's getting a masters degree online, with webcasts and stuff.

I don't know, but while it may be practical I don't think the whole university experience could be emulated via online classes. See I downloaded this kick ass video tutorial the other day, however, I think instant feedback from your teachers is a must.

Discuss, biatches.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

It depends if the school you're thinking of getting it from is accredited. I personally wouldn't fall for any of these popular online universities. I heard one horror story from someone in my family that when to one of these no-name schools and it got closed down before he got his degree. I would definitely look only at schools that have physical classes as well as online classes.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I personally need the attention of a teacher. Not because I am dumb...I just need that interaction to learn. For some people it may be easier to get a degree online. I dunno.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

It appears to me that getting a degree online is actually harder than getting one while physically sitting in class. People automatically think online means you can do it whenever you want. Yes, that's true, but there's also something called discipline that one has to master or at least have a good grip on before they do online learning. If your attention span is short because you can't keep from playing video games and browsing the Net, forget it. Most likely distractions will cause you to fail.

I'm sure you can get an online degree. But pretty much all you get is a piece of paper saying that you graduated from so and so school. I'm sure not many people are going to accept someone who graduated from an online school. Unless that online course was some prestige in it, I really doubt it.

I agree with the fact that the whole thing seems kind of hokey to me. I mean could you proudly say "I graduated from webunivesity.com's online course?" Pls, Miyomi mentioned the discpline thing. Studying for exams in real life requires more discipline than throughout the year, what more if you were to take an online time-limited exam. Most people would figure "sweet, it's basicaly open book."

How ya doing, buddy?

Open-book online exams aren't as easy as people think. My Psych class is proof of that.

You all think you got good deals, huh? Ha! You frugal and observant shoppers have more to learn.

None of that approaches this:

Allow me to share a track from this CD. Here ya go.
I think he should have paid you .01¢ instead.
