Tales of Phantasia OVA

All four episodes of the OVA are out in Japan now.
The final episode came out Feb. 24th 2006.

Now that all the episodes are released I really hope we'll see
a USA release soon. It's been reported that Geneon licensed it.

ahh it's been so long. i'll have to watch the whole thing from the beginning again so i know where they left off, but that's not a such a bad thing =p i rather liked the game and wish the anime coulda went longer.

If I remember, they changed the story a little. Its been a while since i watched the OVA's but the elements are different. Doesn't suck at least.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Quite a bit of the story was different, if I recall correctly, and whatever was kept from the game was.........really rushed. But it's still a good watch.

Not to mention that the OP was awesome.

Yes the opening music was awesome.

The art, soundtrack and voice acting is so good. It's too bad they only made four episodes. With that little time it's hard not to be rushed to make it to the final battle. I wish they had made it longer so they could have touched on more events in the game and more character interactions. I love the Tales cast. I still need to see the 4th episode. Looking forward to seeing the big battle with Dhaos.

I haven't played the game in a quite a while but I don't remember Dhaos being at the tree when mint healed it. Was he there?

I don't think he was there when you 'heal' the tree, but you can find him there on other occasions. It's been sometime, too. It would be really neat to see more character interactions, since I really love them. And I've been looking forward to more Chester for sometime. >_>

Regarding the game, I'm still WTFed out by that 'Mother Gaia Father Cronos' (?) thing at the end. He came from Delis Karan, dude.

It's been so long since I saw the OVAs that I forgot where the 3rd one stopped at...
anyways, from what I remember, the story got really resumed and shortened... of course this isn't really nice, specially for fans of the original game, because the story was the best thing about ToP (IMO).
Aside from that, the animation, soundtrack, voice cast and everything else were very nicely done.

Damn they really should've done a 'complete' series...=P

Uwahhhh I really hope that they sub the last ep soon >_> ive been dying to see this whole thing forever actually haha. I really would have liked if they did a complete series with amore character development and all. The 'Tales of' series have a pretty good reputation for having games easily translated to something that would come right out of an anime. Oh well

Long enough! We've all been waiting so long for the 4th OVA It's a very pretty series so far, with a beautiful opening song as well. The only part that I dislike so far is that they confirmed Klarth's ruggedness. Definitely not my favourite character look in comparison to the in-game sprite, but I could tell I wouldn't like the anime rendition of him from the in-game status screen portrait.

Not bad, but its not the game.

And the 4 OAV were too short IMO. The story is rushed, and for those who haven't played the game before might not understand everything that's going on. I also hated the opening theme, but that might just be me.

Just like what you all mentioned, it's too short. I played the GBA version of the game and watched all 4 eps. The OVA is just too rushed, I wished there are at least a scene of the fire tower and the ice cave and Cless using the Fire and Ice swords.
