AntiVirus 2009
So yesterday I was checking out a site and BOOM! I get a pop up that says that my computer has been infected with a virus and I should install this Antivirus program to protect my computer.
I have been been downloading a lot of stuff lately and half of them have been junk torrents, so I'm a bit paranoid of a virus getting onto my computer and figure "what the hey, another antivirus program can't hurt...can it? After a few moments the scan is done and OH FUCK! 32 infections found! Who knew my computer was this bad?! My other scanners only show between 1-3 things. I go to delete them and it says that I need to purchase the thing for $49.99...FUCK I exit and five minute later the damn thing pops again...I exit again over and over, a vicious circle of pop up after frustrating pop up. I've tried deleting it, K_tak's tried...the damn thing won't delete. I tried googling and found a site that described it, and a way to delete it...but that way involved downloading another program called "Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware" that I've never heard of so I'm not sure how valid it is. I'd like to either know if there is another way to go about deleting it, or if any one knows anything about "Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware" before I download yet another program. The Link: How to remove Antivirus 2009 (Uninstall Instructions) Any help, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() |
Get Spybot, find out what virus it really is (Virtumonde, possible?) and Google it. There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() |
System restore?
How ya doing, buddy? |
I more or less wanted a testimony that Malwarebytes worked...a friend from the forum just told me that the same happened to him, and he used the program to get rid of it, and it worked. I'm trying it now...
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? ![]() |
Yes, Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware works. I've used the program on my own computer a few months ago and everything went smoothly.
A computer at my job got the same virus from opening an infected email and, after laughing about how they called in some computer tech to fix the problem, I brought this program in on a thumbdrive. Malwarebytes got rid of the virus, however, it also glitched Norton's email scanner. If you have Norton Antivirus installed too, I'd suggest disabling it. I was speaking idiomatically. ![]() Observant Provisions | [adult swim] "Dude, this is gonna.. Man, this is gonna wicked, like, really hurt." |
I had the same thing happen to me a week ago, though I think the program that wanted to install on my comp was 'XP antivirus 2008'. However I believe it was because I accidentally clicked the 'ActiveX control was stopped' or what have you from windows.
I went through quite a bit of hell to remove it, and traces were left by spybot. I looked around until I found a program called A-squared by emsi, and that did the trick. They do have a free version, and it took care of all the annoying traces that were left. I believe the virus name was Smitfraud-C, and it was a trojan. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() Juggle dammit |
Yeah, unless you've heard of the program, and intentionally initiate an install, it's bad news.
FELIPE NO ![]() |
I used Trojan Remover for my friend Pc install AntiVirus 2009,install Trojan Remover then update with last definition, try scan with it after finish will ask you to restart.I'm sure will remove it.

I actually did not install the program. Simply clicking that little status bar by mistake let it in and I got a hijacked background and screen saver, plus my internet browsing always redirected me to ad sites, not letting me access pages where I could download fixes and anti-malware programs which weren't part of the whole spyware-laced ring of products.
I eventually was able to get what I needed through a whole bunch of restarting my computer in safe mode and getting lucky by finding the necessary programs on alternate download sites. Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() Juggle dammit |
Oh look, Microsoft and Washington State are planning to sue this company.
Why would you click on a pop-up ad? There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Oh you do NOT know how many times my (older) brother and my sister's friends gets it. I'm always coming to their rescue and either using Malwarebytes or a simple system restore.
I even told them that if a pop-up windows says you have a virus and wants you to click on it to download an Antivirus program, don't. That thing IS a virus (or whatever it is). But yet they're "afraid" that something MIGHT be wrong and still click on it! -_-; This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
