3 points: ixion - Even so, I've come to like someone -cooperate-
2 point: 3rd Super Robot Taisen α -To the End of the Galaxy- Original Soundtrack - ANOTHER TIMEDIVER 1 point: Fighting Layer / Arika - Tetsuo Kato (Fighting Layer Arrange Version) I was definitely feeling the rock tracks this week, but I was in a rocking mood at the time. However, as soon as I heard the iXion piece, I instantly fell in love with it. Pretty decent week, but those three stood above the rest for me. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Hell. Yes. Who nominated Super Robot Taisen when I wasn't looking?! Maybe I'm biased or something, but unless the next track is the entire Nibelungen it's 3 points right here.
I like Katamari and all its music, and although the 360 game was pretty crap, this song was one of the better tracks in the game. It might get points depending on the other tracks this week, it's definitely a good track. The Fighting Layer is good in a generic way. I like making this kind of music, but I don't necessarily like listening to it. It's a weird thing. Still, solid! What is this, the fifteenth ixiom track we've had so far? Is someone just nominating everything from that soundtrack? (For those of you who are worried about my blood pressure, I'm exaggerating, but it feels like we had a bunch of tracks from this game/soundtrack/thing, and I've never heard of it, so I'm surprised.) Anyway that's fine by me, since this is a solid, decent track. No point getter for me, but it was pleasant to listen to. Girlz Buttz has the advantage of having the best title ever. A fun track that's... about Girlz Buttz? I like it already! Thunderhead is a very cool techno-ish track. I love it, great feeling in the drums and the little guitar riffs keep it interesting. Could have a bit more of a lead but I dig it overall. I remember Buster Busts Loose from my childhood, but I don't remember the music I have to say. It's pretty cute, sounds kinda like a messy, unfinished Sonic track. That's a good thing. Definitely up my alley, will almost certainly get a point or two from me. Warriors is maybe the worst this week, but it's still quite decent. I can see what people might like about this, but it's just a bit too phoned in for my tastes. The overtly Asian influences are a bit too much for me, and I don't particularly care for the synth sounds in this track either, they're a bit too mid-high-ish... If that makes any sense at all. Just not very punchy and a bit tinny. 3 points - 3rd Super Robot Taisen α -To the End of the Galaxy- Original Soundtrack - ANOTHER TIMEDIVER 1 point - Beautiful Katamari Damacy Original Soundtrack "Katamari Suteki Damacy" - Sayonara Rolling Star 1 point - Speed Racer (Game Rip) - Thunderhead 1 point - Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster Busts Loose! (Game Rip) - Buster Sky-Jinks Good week! This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
3rd Super Robot Taisen α -To the End of the Galaxy- Original Soundtrack - ANOTHER TIMEDIVER has that SRT drive I've become accustomed to (I haven't yet devled into the series' discography, but I've heard a few tracks!) and it's got a pretty solid, rockin' melody to boot! Nice~
I've never been a fan of Katamari Damacy music. Beautiful Katamari Damacy Original Soundtrack "Katamari Suteki Damacy" - Sayonara Rolling Star isn't an exception; it just seems so colourless and empty to me. The vocals have an ethereal quality which is nice to an extent, but the rest of the composition kind of just drifts about, trying to sound pretty. (sorry nom~!) Fighting Layer / Arika - Tetsuo Kato (Fighting Layer Arrange Version) is also fairly standard. I appreciate the production quality and instrumentation, and there are some nice riffs, but nothing really engages me. Decent, but way too tame and standard for my liking. I still haven't checked out this doujin arragement of the wonderful December Where there is No Angel OST... ixion - Even so, I've come to like someone -cooperate- is, in one word, stunning. The melody is carried throughout the different phases (chiptune, piano etc) with such clarity and succinctness, all while maintaining a feeling of warmth and amicability. Wonderful, 2 points+ for sure. 8-) *tee-hee* Neon FM: Dance Radio (Game Rip) - Girlz Buttz is one of those tracks that you feel like you should or must like, if only for the weird title. Fortunately, the music is pretty fun as well! So, here's hoping I can give this one a score (...). Also, 1:50 = ![]() Speed Racer (Game Rip) - Thunderhead is OK, I guess, if a bit underwhelming. The drive and intensity is pretty good, and the demonic-stamp-percussion (1:08) is arguably the most awesome part of this week. So yeah, OK, but nothing special (excluding 1:08 awesomeness). A big, fat ^__________^ for Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster Busts Loose! (Game Rip) - Buster Sky-Jinks. Not only is it bundled with infectious nostalgia, but the music is also pretty great. Innocuous, humble etc; you can't possible dislike this track. A very cute, nice, easy listen, that's for sure. I don't like the VM Japan OST, to put it simply. Waay to in-your-face-Asian, and none of the track showcase the trademark JDK compositional expertise. VM Japan Original Sound Track - Warriors in particular fits this generalisation. The blend of electronica and Asian is bland, awkward and basically not executed very well. So yes, I'm not a fan of Asian music in general~ (audio-racistz lololol) is it just me, or does that POINT sound asian?! >=| 3 points: ixion - Even so, I've come to like someone -cooperate- 1 point: Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster Busts Loose! (Game Rip) - Buster Sky-Jinks 1 point: 3rd Super Robot Taisen α -To the End of the Galaxy- Original Soundtrack - ANOTHER TIMEDIVER 1 point: Neon FM: Dance Radio (Game Rip) - Girlz Buttz 5th: Speed Racer (Game Rip) - Thunderhead 6th: Fighting Layer / Arika - Tetsuo Kato (Fighting Layer Arrange Version) 7th: Beautiful Katamari Damacy Original Soundtrack "Katamari Suteki Damacy" - Sayonara Rolling Star 8th: VM Japan Original Sound Track - Warriors A decent week. Lots of rockin' DRIVE, which is always/usually good~ I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
The divide is thin, but I'm sticking with my nom, Sayonara Rolling Star. I kind of wish they carried the piano all the way through like they do in the opener, but the track still has quality pacing, a decent beat and vocals that certainly listenable. I like to some degree every track this week, so that's an accomplishment.
(3 points) Beautiful Katamari Damacy Original Soundtrack "Katamari Suteki Damacy" - Sayonara Rolling Star (2 points) Fighting Layer / Arika - Tetsuo Kato (Fighting Layer Arrange Version) (1 point) VM Japan Original Sound Track - Warriors With apologies to: ixion - Even so, I've come to like someone -cooperate- I'm glad Muzza's bottom is my top. Nice week, found a couple of new tracks worth putting on my MP3 player!
(3 points) VM Japan Original Sound Track - Warriors -> Quite cheesy, but it me on a weak spot. Pretty poor participation this week so far; maybe an extension is in order.
3rd Super Robot Taisen α -To the End of the Galaxy- Original Soundtrack - ANOTHER TIMEDIVER Not the most memorable, but the piece has some nice momentum to it and a good synth interlude. Beautiful Katamari Damacy Original Soundtrack "Katamari Suteki Damacy" - Sayonara Rolling Star Much more tuneful and listenable than the average Katamari track (though admittedly that's not saying a whole lot). Still vaguely annoying. Fighting Layer / Arika - Tetsuo Kato (Fighting Layer Arrange Version) Pretty good guitar-led track. The beginning in particular really impressed me, much more so than the rest of the song. ixion - Even so, I've come to like someone -cooperate- Ixion gave us a previous winner/battle winner that, as I recall, was a real love it or hate it experience. I was on the "hate it" end, so expectations were low, but the song exceeded them handily. It combines a very interesting soundscape with a good melody to good effect. Neon FM: Dance Radio (Game Rip) - Girlz Buttz Talk about a name guaranteed to set low expectations... This sounds like it's supposed to be a parody or joke song, and it does elicit some giggles, but doesn't have much beyond that. Speed Racer (Game Rip) - Thunderhead I really like the integration of SFX into this song (which is highly unusual for me), but the crowd stomps and shouts are integrated with the propulsive guitars and electronics in such a way as to create a tremendous drive and energy. Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster Busts Loose! (Game Rip) - Buster Sky-Jinks While the SNES has some all-time classics, it also features a lot of rather bland music. I was expecting bland here, but there's definitely some melodic spiciness to be had, especially when a little jazz swing enters into things or when the xylophone takes the stage. VM Japan Original Sound Track - Warriors A sort of Far East meets techno effect here. The Eastern elements are done well, without being overbearing as they often are, the synth is competent, and the voices add a nice layer of depth beyond that. A good week, without any real weak links! The Point Spread Thunderhead - 3 pts. Ixion - 1 pt. Buster Sky-Jinks - 1 pt. Warriors - 1 pt. Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() |

I expect a late surge of votes this week. It happens now and then.
Speaking of, here are some of my own! 3 Points: VM Japan Original Sound Track - Warriors 2 Points: Fighting Layer / Arika - Tetsuo Kato (Fighting Layer Arrange Version) 1 Point: Speed Racer (Game Rip) - Thunderhead Sorry Ixion, you were going to get a point but the more I listened to "Warriors," the more I loved it and felt it was worth the full three points. The other two tracks hit some sweet spots that needed scratching in the moment, so they too received a nod. Ixion is, however, a good track and I expect it will place - and I won't be upset when it does. I just feel like backing a couple darker horses. I also like how Chuckster and I seem to agree on the selections nearly every week (save for supporting our own respective nominations). It's a phenomenon that I've been observing for a long time and wonder if he's picked up on it too. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
For some reason I think we've all mutated to Sunday voters.

Warriors beat ixion. Well I'll be. I'm a bit =S at the results this week, but...at least Sky-Jinks placed! ='D
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Glad to see Warriors didn't win this week, I was starting to worry about that. Congrats to Tiny Toons as well, didn't expect that to do well, very good nomination. The Fighting Layer track didn't appeal to me greatly, but it was still pretty solid stuff.
Probably one of the best weeks I've participated in! I was speaking idiomatically. |
Actually, seeing Sky Jinks place was what made me stop and squint at my monitor for a couple minutes. I was genuinely surprised because I didn't hear anything special at all in that track.
Honestly, the ixion track got robbed, IMO. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Well, in hindsight I should probably have given Sky-Jinks 2 points instead of 1 because that section starting at around 30 seconds is awesome and cute and ridiculously pompous at the same time. <3 [munchkin march!]
FELIPE NO

I'll take that gold, thank you all kindly. You know Crash, I think it was the lack of unity, to be honest. Warriors and ixion slugged away at each other, people voted out of principle, and Tetsuo Kato was something we could mostly all agree on.
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Meh, I wish I would've voted. I could've helped Warriors come in a deserving second place and I could've helped ANOTHER TIMEDIVER place in a definitive sixth place. I hat school. ;_;
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
