Monitor and PS3 Problems
I was debating whether or not to put it in the Gaming Thread, but here it goes, in the Help Desk.
I have a PS3, for which I connect to a computer LCD monitor using a VGA box and component cables. The VGA Box I use is this particular one and the LCD monitor I have is the Acer AL2423w. The LCD Monitor is capable of 1920 x 1200, has DVI inputs but no HDCP. The VGA Box can supposedly display 720p, 1080i and 1080p, but herein lies the problem. The image displays fine for when the games are playing at 480p and 1080i, but when it comes to 720p the image shifts right, leaving a black border on the left of the screen as well as having white lines appear on the very edges of the top. When playing at 1080p, the image grows big and the screen only displays 1/4 of the image. I can understand that 1080p might not be possible due to the fact that I am using component cables and that my LCD does not have HDCP, but it is strange that while 1080i is all fine and dandy, 720p produces strange results. Any idea to why this might be? Another point to consider is that my PS3 is Japanese, while my monitor is Australian. Could the cross-region aspect be another reason for this weird image shift? If any of the above, is there a solution to the problem? Thanks in advance! Jam it back in, in the dark. |
