Vitamins and Minerals!
So how do you get your vitamins and minerals? Do you take supplements, or would you rather stick to food for your needs? Or perhaps you fall somewhere in between?
Personally, I'm not a big fan of vitamin supplements, so I usually just stick to my fruits and vegetables. Especially during the summer, I find it much easier to do this, whereas during the school year, I definitely don't eat as healthy. So when I do crack open a jar of vitamins, I go for the gummy kinds. Why lie. I do realize that these are made for 5-year-olds, but they're the only way I'll remember to take them. Some of these gummies taste just like regular gummy bears, so I just feel like I'm eating candy. When my friends are over, they raid our medicine cabinet for the gummies as well. As far as specific supplements, I just don't take them. A regular multi-vitamin does the trick. Plus I get enough Vitamin C from all the juice I drink, so I don't need extra C supplements either. Heck, Minute Maid is adding more calcium to my OJ. ;__; How ya doing, buddy?

I personally do both. Multivitamins + Vitamin C + Green Tea extract and adding vegetables (especially leafy greens, broccoli etc) and fruits to my diet.
But I need Vitamin D son. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
I try to eat one apple everyday, because one apple a day keeps the doctor away! I also like cherries and watermelons.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
My opinion: vitamin and mineral are important for health and good live.
when I was a small kid, my mother tell me to eat vitamines and mineral, espacially mineral waters with carbonate ( waters with carbonate are better then waters with no carbonate because there is carbonate in it). I did'nt believe my mother what she said, but now im old and I am happy that I listen to her!! I'm very helthy now and my live is good, I can't complain! I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
I was speaking idiomatically. |
The only supplement I'm taking is Vit C (also in chewable form), and the occasional multivitamin. My mom made us pop multivits once a day when we were younger, she said it was good for us. I do study nutrition, and as long as you include a variety of foods in your diet there shouldn't be able vitamin/mineral deficiency problems. Plus popping a multivit does not necessarily mean that your body will be able to absorb everything. So the key is still eating healthy with a range of fruits and veg.
I still have a problem drinking water directly from the tap- I must have my water boiled before I drink any of it. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Haha perhaps I'm the odd one out here. Our drinking water from the tap goes through a special filter and has its own spout, so it's not like the filters you install right over a faucet. I used to drink boiled water when living at my grandma's place, but I never really like it. Flat! I'm not even sure if water can be flat, but that's the best I can describe it as, unless the water was like that before it was boiled. Or maybe this is hardness/softness I'm experiencing. Well, either way, I don't really know, as I've never had that water straight. FELIPE NO |
I take multivitamins daily, plus I drink a few bottles of those "VitaminWater" drinks each day. I pay attention to which ones I drink so that I don't get too much zinc, versus not enough potassium - or whichever. They're always on sale at work, so I buy them on the cheap. And they're better for you than soda or juice, which have too many sugars or chemical additives.

is it love Jam it back in, in the dark. |
For me it depends on what I eat on a particular day. If I eat something that have multi vitamins in it like cereal and protein shake that day, the extra supplement is probably over doing it. But in general I believe eating clean most of the time is way better then spending money on a bunch of supplements. I make it a habit to check the ingredients in all products especially juices and other processed foods because although there are minerals and vitamins in the product, there still might be hidden sugars, weird and suspicious ingredients (additives, preservatives like MSG) , and always checking the serving size, calories and weigh if that serving is worth the money and value of it being consumed
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
I use Greens+ since it's like taking 8-10 servings of fruits and vegetables and heaven sent balanced essentials. I take the greens+ twice a day with my protein shakes that has milk protein, flax seed oil, creatine, 1 cup of mixed berries and yogurt. It's helped me recover from my MMA workouts and has helped me lose weight and gain muscle. The multivitamin I take in the morning with my breakfast and also with the last meal of the day.
