GFF is wut?

So, how often do you play video games? I mean, this is Gamingforce Forums. I'm just curious how much emphasis is placed on the Gaming part.

I'm personally a huge fan of video games, like most people who post (semi-)frequently in the Video Gaming forum. But GFF is good for so many things; I don't come here just for the video game stuff.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

When I first started coming here? All the time.

Now? Barely ever. Occasional CSS match, occasional replaying of some Squaresoft game (currently going back through Chrono Trigger on the emulator), but not nearly as much as I once did. Still enjoy them from time to time. Just don't have the time like I used to.

I still keep up with the reviews, publications, commentary, and forum discussions but my actual time spent in game anymore is extremely limited. I'll still get the itch for days of Civ or playing a title all the way through from start to finish in one or two sittings, but those times are few and far between.

I'm one of the people who is actually a gamer and it's all I do if I'm not at work, school, or busy otherwise. Understandably, the video game section is apparently not the most popular forum on GFF, but I usually read about new stuff at kotaku anyways, and I usually only dip into the VGM forum to see the level of GFF hype, regarding certain games I personally take interest in.

I used to be a bit of a gamer back in the day of the Sega systems; the newest system I own is a Dreamcast, which experienced a brief renaissance with me last summer (when I discovered the homebrew circuit). These days I play only when I'm at home, usually with my younger cousin, and almost always fighting games. They were always my favorite in the arcades anyway.

These days my practicing and performing schedules keep me from having any free time whatsoever, and whatever I do have is spent on other things like studying or reading. But I do play the occasional game of DDR now and then...

Registered here five years ago a gamer. Five years later, I'm still a gamer to the fullest extent.

If my 50% postcount in the VG Forums isn't enough to tell you that, then I don't know what will.

Meh, I was an intermittent gamer in 2002 when I registered. I stuck to a few genres and companies, but nothing excessive. I didn't get super excited when the newest Metal Gear or Final Whatever came out. I was never the type to pore over review sites, nor did I pay much attention to the latest news. If it was worthy, I figured I'd hear about it eventually.

These days, if it's not on my DS, I probably won't touch it. I've played Brawl twice, Guitar Hero II, three times. My PS2 has been unplugged since last summer. I don't own a Wii, 360 or PS3. I don't intend to. My television is sitting on the counter, unplugged, in the next room over. I don't have room, nor the desire to get mired down in too many videogames. Honestly, I think I played them too much as a teenager and early adult. They probably distracted me from more important responsibilities and I wonder if I'd have been more successful early in life had I never owned a PSX. (I don't think Magic Cards helped much either.)

So no, I'm hardly a gamer at all. I like my Pokemon and it's the only game whose long-term goals I pursue. I can play it in fifteen minute breaks at work, or while I'm trying to fall asleep at night. I can play it in waiting rooms or as a passenger during car trips. It's fantastic for hospital stays. But if I take a break from it for a few weeks, I'm not bothered.

At this point in my life, there are many things far more important than videogaming.

I cut my teeth on Final Fantasy I on the NES. Started when I was 4. Gaming, for me, hit its peak with SNES and Genesis era games. I still have a pretty sizable collection of that generation, and right through to the PS2 actually. But I've never played as much as back in the 90's. Since then, with University and things, my life has simply become too hectic. Combine that with the fact I haven't actually -liked- a ton of games recently (with the decline, in my opinion, of RPGs) and you have a recipe for Deni just not enjoying it as much anymore. If it wasn't for the fact I have money to throw around, I wouldn't own the new gen systems or keep collecting games.

All that being said, I still consider myself a gamer. I play. I enjoy. I just don't obsess the way I used to.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

This pretty much sums me up as well. I was an avid gamer when I was in high school but now that life has taken over as the sport of choice, gaming was sadly relegated to the back burner. I still go to the stores once in a while and find me a sweet deal on games or something of the sort but when I think about, for example, buying a game like Brawl the only thing I can think of is, "Well, shit. I'll play this for one day and I won't have time to play it again for months." and thus I don't buy it and keep on living.

Sad but true.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Ehh, I dunno, but I don't think that "videogames" is the first thing that comes to my mind when I think about GFF.

Of course, I didn't join GFF because of videogames. I think I do remember that I came here because of the FFVII OST, like many many other people.

I've been a gamer for as long as I can remember, altough I stopped being up to date on the most recent releases about six years ago when I started university and realised I really didn't have any money to spend on the newer consoles and accessories. I do have a PS2, Though I think I only bought 1 or 2 games for it new. The rest of the games I have I bought second hand, usually years after they came out. I still play a newer game every now and again, but that is usually because my younger brother goes out and buys it. I haven't played any of the next-gen consoles yet, save for a brief game of Call of Duty 4 on my girlfriend's brother's Xbox 360.

In any case, I usually just play games on emulators whenever I have the time to play.

Due to my busy schedule I have had a hard time keeping up with all the new games and latest trends, but I have played games off and on still, just not many of the big names or current ones. I am currently playing Final Fantasy XII which has bee pretty good so far.

From the age of 5-13 I loved video games. I used to buy magazines, rent games, buy them when I found a decent one, spent many summer days indoors playing them. When I hit the teen years, I just stopped playing them as much as I used to; the obsession for gaming was taken over by music. I voted rarely, but I could've voted sometimes since I've started playing some old RPGs these days and have been hooked on them. It's an expensive hobby to have, especially with the recent consoles costing an arm and a leg and the games on top of that. I tend to leach off my flatmate who dishes out all the pennies for games.

I have been and most likely always will be a very avid gamer. Sure, maybe I don't play games as much as I used to as a youngin', but I still end up playing at least five out of the seven days of the week, even if it's for a short while.

Real life is great, and I indulge in it, but there's something about the escapism found in video games that just appeals to me. It gives me a comfort of sorts. A lot of times when I'm just sitting around doing nothing productive whatsoever (AKA relaxing), I find that my time would be better spent doing something fun and unproductive rather than BLURG and unproductive. To tell the truth, I'm not sure if I'll ever grow out of gaming.

Jam it back in, in the dark.
Oh shit.

I always have been and always will be a gamer. I used to be more obsessed then I am now though. I actually don't have more then maybe 2 or 3 games I intend to buy this year but I also have alot of unplayed games still anyhow. MMOs have a way of making stuff pile up.

I don't really play because I'm obsessed with gaming or anything. But right now, I don't have much anything else I feel is worth doing when I'm not at work.

I've never had an opportunity to indulge in console gaming for any length of time. While my friends' N64 controllers are now nigh-unusable from floppy control sticks and stuck shoulder buttons, mine are in near-mint condition as a result of never being home to play with the damn thing. It's seen more use in the past two months than it has for the rest of the decade. I now have a CRT monitor and a VGA TV box in my dorm, so I've occasionally cycled between the Wii and the N64 whenever I'm on campus.

I've been gaming more in recent days than I have at any other time in my life. Bought a DS Lite the day it launched in the UK. Haven't been absolutely hooked ever since, but I do get completely engrossed in it for days at a time.

I've gotten older, but I still play games whenever I can. But certainly not as much as I used to. Maybe 1-2 RPGs a year now. Especially series that I've been following since I was younger. But as for games I just pick up out of curiosity, I hardly have much time to play those these days.

I used to be obsessed with games when I was younger. Games you'd all laugh at I'm sure, but games nonetheless. I used to buy the latest games magazines and I loved some of the demos I got from them. I could never really afford to buy games of my own, only those I completely fell in love with (and only then for systems I already owned; Jet Set Radio being a prime example of the unattainable game). I've lessened even since then, whether or not that's a good thing.

I'm OBSESSED gamer then as I am now. Actually, the truth is, I go through phases. Phases to where I would not play a game for weeks but when I pick up something, I'll be obsessed for months. I go through all kinds of media through these phases... ;\ Like one phase, I'll be all over cable tv and dvds, another phase, I'll be all over comic/graphic novel reading, or just doing art crafts and stuff. I don't really multi-task my hobbies.

But yeah, when I registered, I played games just as much as I do now. Although, like other olbies here, I kinda have wandered away from my love for rpgs though. I wouldn't say its waning, its just I haven't seen much of decent rpgs to be worth obsessing over. I've been playing a LOT of other genres though since!

I'm pretty much like Meia. There are periods of weeks and months in which I don't play anything, and then I start again once I find something interesting. I just bought Diablo II, for example, and I think that might start eating up my time pretty soon...

I don't play them as much as I used to. In fact, I only occasionally play my PS2 and it's usually limited to Guitar Hero or some 2D fighters. If anything, I get the most use out of my PSP because of custom firmware. Otherwise, nada.

It just feels like a waste of time, and I don't have that much time to begin with. Every now and then I'll binge on TV shows or movies, but games don't really cut it for me.
