Sikh motorcyclist refuses to wear helmet

CTV.ca

I just found this funny,
a devout Sikh was fined $110 for not wearing a helmet, the Sikh is considering appealing an Ontario judge's ruling that forbids him from riding his motorcycle without a helmet because he thinks its religious discrimination.

In my opinion this whole situation is dumb because the law isn't targeting Sikhs telling them to remove or cover up their turban, It applies to everyone for safety reasons. I don't even know why this guy would in his right mind would ride without a helmet, if he gets into a accident he's pretty much fucked. My brother was in a accident not long ago and the helmet saved his life.

What do you all think?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Dude is just seeking attention. His parents didn't hug him enough as a child or something.

I didn't say I wouldn't go fishin' with the man.
All I'm sayin' is, if he comes near me, I'll put him in the wall.

We don't have a helmet law here in Idaho, though I read somewhere in the papers that some groups are trying to get that legislation passed.

Frankly, it's your own damn choice to put it on, and I wish the system would leave it that way. About 40-50% of the riders I see here wear one on their own accord.
It's just as annoying as seat belt laws. It's your own choice. Sure, a child riding with his parents may not have a choice, but most adults are educated enough to make the conscious decision on their own.

About the article, however, if it is already law, I don't think the towel-head should get any kind of special treatment.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I think it's dumb that he doesn't want to wear a helmet, but I thought freedom of religion includes being able to practice your beliefs, whatever they are, as long as they don't infringe on the rights of others and put other people in jeopardy. As far as I can tell, he's not doing either of that so why not let him ride without a helmet?

Sikhs take this shit damn seriously. Some of them didn't wear helmets back in the war, and died for it.

Frankly, it's your own damn choice to put it on,
Not when there's a public health system footing the bill when you fuck yourself over.

Hard issue.

I was speaking idiomatically.

I personally don't see the purpose to forcing adults to wear seat belts and helmets because for every person it's their life not anyone else's and anyone who's smart knows to wear seat belts whether there's a law telling them to or not. The only reason I still support such laws anyway is just because while it doesn't seem right to tell someone what do with their lives it seems even less right to make the highway clean up crew clean up someone's brains just because the previous owner didn't feel like using them.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?
