Juno
I'm SO surprised I haven't seen this topic anywhere.
One of the local theaters finally got Juno, which I'm seeing tomorrow. Ratings of 94% on Rotten Tomatoes, a 4-star review from Ebert... good start from the critics, but usually the peers have a better say. I'm wondering how this new comedy matches up against a couple of recent hard-hitters from Rogen. Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() |
Sup GFF faggots, who can't handle shit? |
![]() I watched it a day after it hit ours.. which I am guessing it was a day after opening day. Haha I guess we got it since Page's home town is Halifax. I don't know what Ebert's talking about. "...best angst teen movie since Napoleon Dynamite". while he gave out !@#$ing 1 1/2 stars. There's nowhere I can't reach.

Some moments of genius are undercut by some of the weaker moments, especially near the ending. Acting was spot-on. I can't help feel that Michael Cera plays the same character everywhere he goes. Jason Bateman did an outstanding job, as did Ellen Page. Some of the writing was fantastic, while some of it made me go whiskey tango foxtrot. Overall, a fun, good movie. A very immersing experience.
The movie got confusing for me in the beginning, because I started getting crosscurrents from Superbad and Arrested Development. The only fear is that it'll become like Garden State in people's minds. It deserves a lot more than that. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]()

I'm very glad that Michael Cera and Jason Bateman were never in the same scene together. I don't think my mind would have accepted it XD
Though Jason Bateman was very good in the movie; he played a character with a very charming personality that falls from grace. Ellen Page was amazing in the film as well. Overall, the writing was very clever...some of Ellen Page's lines were witty, hilarious, and heartfelt throughout the entire film. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

The movie was pretty awesome. I only had one problem in that some of the lines seemed forced (like Juno talking about her hamburger phone). It made me smile a little, but it didn't seem too authentic. Probably in my top 5 of 2007 though.
How ya doing, buddy? |
