Genshiken 2: The show that not even the dreaded evil of Moe can defeat returns!!

What? There hasn't been a thread for the best show of this season?

I...I just don't know you guys any more ;_;

Genshiken: The Society for the study of modern visual culture 2.

Studio: Palm Studio, Genco
Episodes: 13
Orig. Air Date October 10, 2007
Genre: Comedy/Slice of Life

Following on from the first season and the three OVA episodes that came with the reprehensiable Kujibiki♥Unbalance (and are being packaged that way with the US release of said shite instead of a single volume.
Godamnit, Media Blasters, stop it with the shit decisions already, I don't want your goddamn Voltron, I want my GaoGaiGar dubbed awesomely!!)
Genshiken 2 is the long awated animated adaptation of the second half of the nine volume series of the orgional Genshiken manga.

Anyway, I'm of the oppinion that if you don't know what Genshiken realy is that watching this will leave you horribly confused and that you realy should "Buy" the "DVD Box set" from "Media Blasters" if you catch my drift (Beyond the visual anology of what Misty would sound if she had giant bonanzas, the dub is no great shakes) so I won't bore people with the details of the story beyond the idea of that this show is about a small time collage anime/game/manga club and thier verious (concevable in real life) missadventures.

But I digress, you have to see this OP:
"disarm dreamer" by Aki Misato
Isn't that just awesome? I Know it is...

And the ED

"Clubhouse Sandwich" by Yuumao

Torrents
Currently, only one group is subbing Genshiken 2 (and yet 4 groups are doing Clannad? WTF, Mate?) is the ever infamous Dattebayo subs (And, true to form, they anouced G2 as a replacment show for Bleach and caused thier brand of shitstomery)

Episode 1: [DB]
Episode 2: [DB]
Episode 3: [DB]
Episode 4: [DB]
Episode 5: [DB]
Episode 6: [DB]
Episode 7: [DB]
Episode 8: [DB]

Jam it back in, in the dark.
All I'm saying is that if the laptops of the future are not in the
shape of chibi genie girls then I'm going to be sorely disappointed.

Is there even a fansub of the last Genshiken OAV episode (Ep 15)?
Also, are there even fansubs of the last 3 Kujibiki Heart Unbalance episodes?

I wouldn't want to start Genshiken 2 without seeing the last "official" episode of the first series.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

So far I like the way it's continuing everything after the OVA (AKA 13-15). I can live with both the OP (AWESOME) and ED theme since they both look just as good as season 1's. Just that I noticed the animation was a little different in both episode 1 and 2. Not that it bothers me at all since it's Genshiken ;p. What I'm going to miss is the reference and cameos of certain fighting games which involved Kohsaka a few times but now he looks like the 5th wheel with Tanaka being the old muffler ready to blow =/. Overall, It still maintains the mood that I expected from season 1.

For those who never saw OVA 3 (EP 15) I uploaded through sendspace since some people here don't believe in torrents.

It's really, really great so far, it's like seeing old friends again. Especially the first episode gave me that vibe since it went on for so long with the various members dropping in a few at a time. And you just gotta love that "next episode" rant at the end of the first episode, classic stuff.

I'm a tiny bit disappointed that the OP didn't maintain the "daily life" theme of the other OPs but it's a great OP in its own way so I can't complain too much. Also, I miss the custom episode-related EDs. Traditions are traditional!

Ep 3 came out a few days ago but I was too busy with Uni stuff (ironicly including my own anime club) to see it.
It is made of Win and Trap, that is all.

Episode 4 was pretty good.

Spoiler:
So those two hook up. I think I have more respect for Tanaka now. I only hope they don't fall off later in the series. Other than the love scenes:

Kuchiki+getting punched in the stomach by Ohno+DQ theme song= AWESOME

Fixed. Sorry about that.

DB has approved over the past 2-3 years when they used to sub only shitty qualities of Naruto.

To be fair though, Naruto deserves to be subbed shittily, in keeping with the quality of the show.

I looooved the Etrian Odyssey reference, I wasn't even paying attention and suddenly the music just drilled into my ear and I was like "what the hell that is AWESOME!", especially considering I didn't even really notice they were holding DS lites, total shock!

The only thing I didn't like about them playing Etrian Odyssey is that they seemed to be playing multiplayer, which suggests to me that they haven't actually played the game. I don't know, it irks me a little when they reference something they don't actually understand.

Also the way they're playing really suggests a head-to-head puzzle game.

Anyway it was an awesome episode, but the preview for the next one had me going "noooooooooooooooo". D:

Yeah. That preview threw me the fuck off. My guess is :

Spoiler:
Aside from the Comic-Con, it must be about Oguie and her interests in Sasahara. I never read the manga but in one or two episodes, I notice the connection .

I never read the manga but this month's the 9th and last volume. Hopefully, vol 1-8 aren't hard to find so I'll try to pick them up and maybe a poster in rightstuff.com. I figured, a good show deserves to be praised a little more >=p.

Episode 5

Spoiler:
I was wrong.. Unfortunately, the whole episode is Oguie's imagination of Yaoi bs portrayed in her mind.

But alas, the comedy wasn't so bad outside of her mind but a more sexy version of Saki was probably the best part in the episode. Yeah. Overall an ok episode but definately forgettable too.. >=p The next preview put a smile to my face at least.

I love Genshiken 2! It's definately one of the best shows this season. Great humor in like every episode

Comments on ep 5
Spoiler:
I just couldn't stop laughing! The yaoi scenes thought up by Ogiue were very amusing and because Sasahara and the others were soooo out of character it got even better. I think Ogiue is such a great character, I adore that she's all in denial of being an otaku, when she clearly is one. Can't wait for the next ep!

Episode 6. I can't tell if DB are being morons for saying that Sasahara's repeat moan quote was a Yotsubato refrence.

Episode 5: I don't know wether or not to be scared that the voice of the braves is doing yoai scenes.

All I can say, is that episode 6 was great. Ogiue is so amusing!
Spoiler:
It was so damn fun when she got exposed, with all the yaoi fanbooks spread out on the floor. And she was still like, "I'm no otaku!" when it was so obvious XD

Ep 7 is important for verying reasons, 1) It has serveal chracters graduating and 2) The op's been 2nd Versioned with Ohno taking the reins of the Genshiken (There's a shot of her basicly playing off Nanoha with beam spam MaShojo cosplay).
Also, there's things from here and there that'll hit longtime fans of of the show hard.

appolgies but Uni's been catching up to me and spacking me in the face.

Agreed. Such as the closing song "Biidama" that represented the three graduates. Sad and all, yes, but at least Madarame is still around. With
3 (or 4) more episodes left, I really want to see some spotlight shed on Kohsaka >.>.

Episode 9:

Spoiler:
was just too funny with him around. Saki is like one of those girls who want to cry on a shoulder cause her bf prefers games over real pussy lol.

Episode 10 is awesome, takes the drama of episode 9 and shoves it right back up there.

It also introduces Ohno's american compadrés to great comic effect, one speaks english and the other seems to only comunicate in anime catphrases ("What are you, stupid?", "I'm srounded by idiots!", Kururu's laugh, etc).

If anything, Sue is the only female character saving this show since it's cosplay based now.

Episode 11 brings back 2-3 original characters for a bit.

Spoiler:
Sue's imitation of Konata = awesome

The two recent eps have been good (10 and 11), but I just can't stand the "engrish" they speak. It's sooooo bad Especially how they change their tone while speaking thinking it will sound American or whatever. I've been thinking why they just can't hire English voice actors for English characters in anime series. Is it because the japanese wouldn't understand a real Englishman if they hired one? Since they usually give off subs for them I don't see why it would be a problem.

Since DB are gonna act all emo and shit, might as well switch to sudo-fansubs. Though the files are mkv, it should look better anyway.
