Scrolling with a laptop keyboard?
Heya,
I was just wondering if it's possible to scroll (like with a mouse wheel) on a laptop keypad? I somehow used the function on my one...a little scrollbar icon came up and it seemed to scroll. But I can't reliably reproduce it. Anyone have any ideas, or know if there's a program that lets a keyboard shortcut mimic mousewheel up/down? Thanks (I have an Acer laptop if there's anything specific about those) Jam it back in, in the dark. By any other name, would smell as sweet.

You could use the Up and Down arrow keys to scroll a line at a time, and you could use the spacebar to go a full page down, and Shift+spacebar to go a full page up. Or you could use page up and page down to go up and down a full page.
For stuff that isn't a webpage, well, buy a ten dollar mouse if it is a huge deal? There's nowhere I can't reach. I didn't say I wouldn't go fishin' with the man.
All I'm sayin' is, if he comes near me, I'll put him in the wall. |
My laptop had a function that acted as the mousewheel button when you pressed down both the left and right buttons at the same time. Try that maybe?
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Yeah, my roommate's old HP laptop had a rippled area that was designated as a scrolling area, though there was a way to turn it off. Perhaps there's some setting in TouchPad properties under your control panel?
I was speaking idiomatically. |

If you have a Synaptics touchpad, you can scroll
- vertically by sliding a finger alongside the right border of the touchpad; - horizontally by sliding a finger alongside the bottom border of the touchpad I think several Acer laptop series use these Synaptics devices. It actually works better than a mousewheel (no noise, and easier to scroll faster). What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
