Xenosaga (DigiCube) OST vs. Xenosaga Ep. I OST

I know this thread was quite a while ago, but I have one question. Why do we have 2 version of Xenosaga OST: Xenosaga OST and Xenosaga Episode I OST? I notice that they have the same tracks but with different orders. What are the differences in these two?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

One of the OSTs is released by Mitsuda's label Sleigh Bells. Aside from separating the orchestral tracks on one CD with the sample-constructed tracks on the second CD, there's also a few tracks recorded by live players which weren't present in the original game (but exist in the cutscene DVD included with Ep II) -- One of those tracks I know is Beach of Nothingness

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Xenosaga Original Soundtrack - Released by DigiCube prior to their bankruptcy. Now obsolete. Contains all the music from the game.

Xenosaga Episode I - Released by Yasunori Mitsuda's production company Sleigh Bells who own the rights to the music. Features a renewed order (first disc features live recordings, second disc is sequenced), several new recordings, and the new tracks "World to be Born" and "Pain -Piano Version-".

Xenosaga Ep. I is an interesting re-release. The splitting is controversial but the new recordings/pieces (esp. "World to be Born") are nice tracks.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Thanks a lot Cobalt and Mr Maul.
On the side note: I think the cover of Xenosaga Episode I is much better than the Xenosaga OST. The DigiCube's cover looks ugly, like a bootleg release. I will not be satisfied if I buy the Digicube version.

You will be if you like sound quality. I own both, and the DigiCube version is noticeably better than the Sleigh Bells release.

That's interesting consider Sleigh Bells version was released after DigiCube's. I'll note your comment.

Going off the gamemp3s releases of Xenosaga and Xenosaga Episode I using just Last Battle and Omega, I'd be inclined to agree that Xenosaga sounds slightly better than Episode I.. but they're also encoded with different versions of LAME though at the same quality. Can anyone else give their experience with the quality of the sound?
