Xbox 360 "For Windows" controller on Mac OS X
The CompUSA store near my house is closing, and as a result they had/have massive markdowns on shit all over the store. I went in one day on the way home from class and saw a discounted Xbox 360 controller on the shelf--the last one they had.
I'm normally not much of a PC gamer at all: the Myst series, some LucasArts stuff (more on that in a minute), System Shock 2, and the original Deus Ex are traditionally the extent of my gaming activities where consoles are not concerned. However, I do play a fair deal of ROMs and, after having played a 360 at a friend's house, I must confess that while I'm not a Microsoft fan, the 360's controller is pretty damn comfortable to hold. So I decided that for the 35% off I was getting, I might as well pick up the controller because if all else fails, it should work with ROMs, amirite? Ya srsly i rite. However, true to form, Microsoft didn't bother coding Mac OS X drivers for the device. Looking at their website, it seems that only Vista drivers are available. So here's my question: I'm currently kinda getting into Jedi Academy on my G5. Short of figuring out how to tweak dismemberments to a disturbing-like-Ed-Gein level (apparently config files were changed for the Mac port), all I really want is to be able to play it with a gamepad since most of the game is a console-style 3rd-person hack-n-slash. It has a 1st-person mode for the projectile weapons, but let's not kid ourselves: it's all about the lightsaber. To that end, does anyone know of an unofficial means of getting a 360 controller working on Mac OS X? Jam it back in, in the dark. It is not my custom to go where I am not invited. |
This is a simple case of "fucking Google it," you dolt. First fucking result in Google for (and I shit you not,) "Xbox 360 controller driver mac os x", made by these guys. Seriously, do some simple work, man. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
...
*puts on the dunce cap* Sometimes I scare myself. I truly do. Thanks, man. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. It is not my custom to go where I am not invited. |
