Breaking up .wav files without losing quality.
I have a lossless sound file that is .wav and I'm really interested in splitting into 6 different tracks, but I really want it to stay lossless. What is the best to go about doing this?

I like to use Adobe Audition because of the interface and effects you can use with it, but I think just about any audio editing program should be able to edit a wav and keep it as a PCM wav.

The first trick is to split it manually using a program like Audacity. It's pretty easy, you just have to point-and-click at the right times in the file to break it up into tracks. Then you can either keep it as WAV, or you can convert it to a fully lossless audio codec like FLAC. There are other lossless codecs, but FLAC is free software, meaning that it is supported by applications you can get for free.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Cool Edit is another good program for splitting up and editing .wav files (among others). I used to have a cracked version for my own use, and the radio station I briefly interned at used it as well.
