Gyakuten Saiban Jazz Album ~GYAKUTEN MEETS JAZZ SOUL~

Tanomi seems to have revealed in a recent e-mail newsletter that a Gyakuten Saiban (aka. Phoenix Wright) jazz album currently is in the works. I've been able to find very little additional information about this on the net, save for this thread over at STC and a link (on tanomi.com) to the Gyakuten Saiban page on the Tanomi site. That page doesn't actually mention the album yet, but you can find the link by simply running a search for jazz in the search box at the top of the main page.

So, for now, I guess we can SPECULATE.

How ya doing, buddy?

So they're going to hit every genre in order of invention with these albums? First classical, then jazz, and by the time Phoenix Wright VI is out we'll be at GYAKUTEN MEETS SKA or GYAKUTEN MEETS DEATH METAL?

There's nowhere I can't reach.

GYAKUTEN MEETS VGM

...Oh wait. VGM isn't a genre.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Actually, I'd love to see ska and death metal VGM arrange albums, just in general.

Anyway, here's the contents of the e-mail in indecipherable moon language:

『逆転裁判』ジャズアルバム
          ~GYAKUTEN MEETS JAZZ SOUL~(仮)
          http://www.tanomi.com/saiban/

          http://www.tanomi.com/saiban/
Highlights include:
  • Oo-edo Soldier Tonosaman
  • Mayoi's Theme (Mayoi Ayasato ~ Gyakuten Sisters' Theme, I'd guess)
  • Gyakuten Saiban 4 is being released in Japan on 4/12, but I don't know whether this is saying the album is too or if it's is just a plug for the game.
  • This is saying something about the theme song of the assistant of the new protagonist. I dunno whether【みぬき】is the name of the song or the character. I expect this will be a song straight from GS4, like the last track on the orchestral arrange album was, rather than an arrangement, because the last orange line says the jazz arragements precede it.

That's about all I could make out. :\

I was speaking idiomatically.

Heh, if this is anything as good as the Orchestral album then I'll be pleased. I can see many Gyakuten Saiban tracks fitting perfectly with a jazz (soul) style.

Gyakuten Saiban meets Ambient? Gyakuten Saiban meets Death Metal? Gyakuten Saiban meets Midi? Highly unlikely.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Thanks for posting the e-mail, CHz. It's good to have some solid confirmation on this.

And according to the wiki for the 4th game, みぬき (Minuki) is the "legal partner" of the new main character, so I guess it's her theme they are referring to there. So we have three confirmed tracks so far then.

Ok, more info about the album is up on the Gyakuten Saiban page on tanomi.com now.

The gist of it is that it'll be released on the 31st of March, will contain 10 tracks and will be arranged by Noriyuki Iwadare!

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Nice, I've really liked Iwadare's work from the GS series so far. Here's some Babelfish butchering.

. Reversal judgment? ブルーノート scale 6. lawn nine warehouse tiger no help of opening a court? スウィンギン ゼニトラ 2. forming step hall Ryuichi? There is an objection,! 7. Reversal judgment 3? ブルーノート scale 3. large Edo soldier トノサマン 8. ゴドー of opening a court? As for coffee fragrance 4. reversal judgment 2 of darkness color? ブルーノート scale 9. of opening a court the reversal end 5. sword 怜 samurai who revives? Great revival 10 theme of the coming which is not seen? Child of magic

I see Warehouse Tiger (Swinging Zenitora), Great Revival, Godot, along with those already mentioned. Along with courtroom music from GS2 and 3?

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Any word on whether or not VGMWorld is going to carry this? I've sent Kahori an e-mail but have not received a reply yet.

I asked about this as well, and she told me they'll be selling it, but probably not until around mid-April. So that's good news for anyone interested in picking this up.

Yeah, the album is now up for pre-order at VGMWorld: http://www.vgmworld.com/catalog/inde...&item_num=1194

I've went ahead and ordered my copy. Normally, I'd be miffed about having to wait until the middle of April to receive this, but I'm gonna need some time to recover from all the March albums I've ordered.

This should be a nice album.

Haha, that sounds so weird jazzy like that.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?
Check out my original music at my Soundcloud page!

Latest music rips (updated January 10, 2012):

SimCity DS - Jazz/ambient/electronic music including interesting reworkings of songs from the fantastic SimCity 3000 soundtrack
Cold Winter Original Game Music Score - Really cool; dark, full, emotional strings mixed with drums, piano, choir. Kind of like Furious Angels?

Play-Asia - Japanese CDs, game soundtracks, game imports, & more
