Red face Xbox LIVE Arcade/Marketplace

Are you addicted to playing mindless ancient games on your expensive brand new console? Then this is the thread for you!

Xbox LIVE Arcade Games:
  • Bankshot Billiards 2 (1200 points / $15)
  • Bejeweled 2 Deluxe (800 points / $10)
  • Crystal Quest (800 points / $10)
  • Feeding Frenzy (800 points / $10)
  • Gauntlet (400 points / $5)
  • Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved (400 points / $5)
  • Hardwood Backgammon (400 points / $5)
  • Hardwood Hearts (400 points / $5)
  • Hardwood Spades (400 points / $5)
  • Hexic HD (Comes free with Premium Xbox 360, non-downloadable)
  • Jewel Quest (800 points / $10)
  • Joust (400 points / $5)
  • Marble Blast Ultra (800 points / $10)
  • Mutant Storm Reloaded (800 points / $10)
  • Outpost Kaloki X (800 points / $10)
  • Robotron 2084 (400 points / $5)
  • Smash T.V. (400 points / $5)
  • Wik: Fable of Souls (800 points / $10)
  • Zuma Deluxe (800 points / $10)

Coming March 2006:

-Astropop
-Street Fighter Fucking 2!

Oh, and for those new to the whole arcade thing, the best games for your dollar are:

1) Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved ($5)
2) Marble Blast Ultra ($10)

Honorable Mentions are:

1) Smash T.V. ($5)
2) Mutant Storm Reloaded ($10)

Games to avoid which are a waste of money:

1) Hardwood Backgammon ($5)
2) Hardwood Hearts ($5)
3) Hardwood Spades ($5)

Microsoft Points:

You need to purchase Microsoft Points and use those to 'buy' the arcade games. Each point costs US$0.0125, no matter which points package you buy, so really you shouldn't need to ever buy more than 500 or 1000 at a time. Here are the points packages you can buy over XBL Marketplace:

500 points: $6.25
1000 points: $12.50
2000 points: $25.00
5000 points: $62.50

If you don't want to use a credit card over XBL to buy these, you can also buy cards in certain retail stores which give you a code to redeem the same amount of points over XBL. You probably have to pay tax using this method though, so I just get them through XBL Marketplace.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Ultimate MORTAL KOMBAT 3 has been announced! Now THAT's a game I'll be paying for.

As much as I like Street Fighter 2, it's very outdated. Why is Capcom wasting their time porting it when they can just as easily port a game like Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo...

Heck if they ported Marvel Vs Capcom 2, i'd pay full price just to play it online.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I'm surprised at how much I love the X-Box live Arcade.

I've only gotten the demo of Zuma but I enjoy the game. Also, I think I'll have to buy Gauntlet, Bejeweled 2, and Geometry wars.

I was wondering, what makes Marble Blast Ultra so special? I've been hearing a lot of people talk about it being fun but is it really worth it?

Hey, screw Mortal Kombat. I've heard that Midway are going to make a new Paper Boy game for Live. Paper Boy! Could it get any better? I don't think so...

Well, I find myself playing Arcade much more than the real "proper" games. A bit sad, but so far only Call of Duty 2 and Kameo tickled my... thing. But I have my eye on Oblivion. It should be very great.

I heard Crystal Quest is now only $5 but I swear it was $10 when I bought it. Can anyone confirm if certain games' prices change every so often? Oh, and Jewel Quest is out. A $5 game for the great price of $10.

So is there any information on the date we'll be getting Street Fighter 2 here? I can't find shit on it and I'm wondering if any of you dudes had an idea.

Last wedenesday it was Jewel Quest. This wed Feeding Frenzy. Next week Wed, Astropop. Next wed after next, Street Fighter 2. At least that is my guess.

....because, it's Capcom. They're starting at the begenning and are likely to port every damn game in their whole back catalouge using the same online engine, to milk every cent off of the series they can get. SFII, SSFII, SFA, SFA2, SFA3, SFIII, SFIIIDI, SFIII3rdStrike, the SNK Crossovers, then the Versus series with the oddballs like Puzzle Fighter somewhere in the middle. You'll see Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 by the time the Xbox 720 comes out.

Feeding Frenzy is fun, but isn't worth 800. Should have been 400.

Astro Pop rules though, can't wait for that.

You most likely won't see SF2 this month.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Astropop just got released. Why are all the new ones always $10. This one is totally a $5 game. Got the demo, but I probably won't buy it any time soon. Seemed to get boring pretty fast, although I liked the pretty colors.

So can we be sure with any sort of certainty that next week's game is gonna be SF2?

Somehow I'm having doubts Street Fighter 2 will be released that soon. I think Hoopworld or whatever that game was called will be out first, but I don't know if either of the two are ready for release since they haven't been advertised as much as Jewel Quest/Feeding Frenzy/Astropop. I'm guessing next month.

Nuts. I wish they would be a tad bit more forthcoming about the arcade games release schedule. =\

Thanks for the info though Tube. Much appreciated.
