Reformating Computer but Leaving Other HD

Heya

I wanna completely reformat my computer BUT I want to keep my other HD that I installed into this computer (weren't initially part of the computer)

Computer:
The regular DVD/CD/A Drive
C Drive 80 GB <--- wanna reformat that
F Drive
G Drive

The F and the G drive are part of the same harddrive (seperate from the C Drive). In other words I have 2 harddrives

The original: C Drive
One I bought and partioned into two drive: F+G Drive

So is it posible to completely wipe out the C Drive without hurting the F+G Drive?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

^By Auro from the FFXII board... Thanks ^^

Yes. Just choose to reformat that partition (the C drive) during setup of whatever operating system.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Should be fine. BUT make sure you format the correct partition!.

Also, if you had some files encryped on F and G, I suggest you unencrypt before reformatting Windows...

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

You could disconnect the F+G drive before doing the format on C. That way you can't accidentally mess it up.

I was going to suggest the same thing. There's no harm in having it disconnected, and it ensures that the data won't inadvertently be erased. It's probably a good idea to have it connected while Windows is being installed again, so that it gets sane drive letters assigned to it.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Stupid question... but what do you mean by encrypted data and decrypting it?

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Under Windows NT/XP, you could choose to encrypt some files for added security (right-click a file, Properties, Advanced, check Encrypt contents to secure data). Chances are that if you don't know about encrypted data, you don't have anything to worry about!

They are partitions of the same harddrive.

Tsunade made it succint he had two hard drives. Thus, it should be fine to unhook the second hard disk, bearing the F+G partitions, prior to Drive C: format.

At this point though, he's probably up and running with a brand new system.
