My computer area is messy. I mostly have textbooks, candy wrappers, random origami, and stacks of cds closest to me right now.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I try to never carry coins on my person if I can help it -- only paper money. If I carry coins, I keep it in the neighborhood of quarters and maybe dimes.

I have a collection of silver dollar coins that are pretty darn close =D They're quite nice.

The closest peice of currency I have to me right now would be a silver quarter dollar (U.S.) minted in 1845. I found it in a regular roll of quarters, and its farily well worn.

Just behind it, on the same shelf, I have a tin filled with various silver coins struck between the 1880s and 1920s. Behind that I have four gold-plated Kennedy half-dollars (one is a centennial), a gold plated lincoln penny, and a $10 silver commemorative piece.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

My checkbook is right in front of me, but if we're talking actual currency, there are pennies scattered in various locations for scratching lottery tickets.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I also have a Euro.
For whatever reason I had totally forgot the Euro qualified as form of currency. I have no US monies on hand, as usual, but I do have a $5 Euro being kept cozy in my wallet!

I have $25 (a $20 bill and a $5 bill) and somewhere between $1-$2 in change on the bookshelf by my bed. I hate change, so I'll probably get rid of that soon (my mom has a jar of change she's saving up, so I'll probably give it to her). As for dollars, I tend to like bigger bills, and I try not to carry anything smaller than fives if I can.

I hate carrying loose change around in my pockets so I usually spend it as quickly as possible. When I don't get to spend it all, I keep it as "Cheeto Change" in a shot glass on top of my monitor just in case I'm working on something and I get a craving for Cheetos or some equally horrific junkfood item in the middle of the night.

I just whip out old "Bankshot"...

Nutty stole my answer. My checks are sitting on my computer desk in front of me. My wallet's in my bedroom on the nightstand, there's a plastic Mott's apple juice container almost halfway full with pennies on top of the refrigerator, I've been working on filling that thing for about two years now.

Thought I might of had a dime in my back left pocket, must be on the nightstand.

My uncle brought me a 1$ coin from the States. He said they are very rare, but I don't really believe that. Anyway, it's lying next to my laptop, so that would be the "closest piece of money to me" right at the moment.

Depends. If it's a Susan B. or something of that era, it is a bit hard to find, and never seen in regular usage. If it's one of those gold Sacagawea ones, they're pretty common, although, again, not in regular usage. They were minted fairly recently, but never caught on. The only place I've seen that actually uses them was Six Flags, where that's all they ever gave you for change.

I dunno. There's a woman with a child on the front and it also says "2001 D". The back is showing the eagle. Oh well, maybe it's just a pretty common one.

Okay, I just checked Google and it seems to be one of those common Sacagawea coins.

Jam it back in, in the dark.
