Favourite/Recommended Podcasts?

So, my interest has been piqued. I want to try out some podcasts, but I have absoultly no idea where to start. I'm probably going to try to grab Alan Cross' Ongoing History of New Music, but I can't seem to find the hour-long episodes that they have on the radio

So, give me some suggestions - what podcasts do you subscribe to?

And does anybody know of a daily podcast covering news and current events?

Okay, I'll go.

I like to get NPR's daily news coverage. It's a good short catchup if you missed it for the day.

How ya doing, buddy?

I haven't gotten into podcasts yet. But I reccomend Adam & Joe's XFM shows. They're a couple of Brits and the show is London-based so some of the popular culture/news stuff they talk about will probably be England related but the comedic way they talk about stuff should be accessible by all and they talk about alot of irreverent stuff too. They're just very funny. They used to do a show on TV called Adam & Joe Show that was fantastic.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

"Downloadable Content" by the Penny Arcade creators is quite entertaining, though it's not released very often.

Podcasts I regularly listen to:

- Buzz Out Loud (tech news)
- Twentyhood (laid back podcast about bieng in your twenties)
- The Instance (world of warcraft)
- My extra life radio (general nerd chat)
- PLA Radio (phonelosers)

I was speaking idiomatically.

1up Yours Podcast - Videogames + hilarity = check this shit out. (They often have guests such as Cliffy B. and other game producers.)
ExtremeTech Podcast - General Tech podcast. Very knowledgable hosts.

My favorites:

Infected - Martin Sargent of TechTV fame is as awesome as ever in his podcast. I laughed so hard when I listened to the episode that was sponsored by Dockers.

Onion Radio News - Dude, it's The Onion.

This Week in Tech - Hosted by Leo Laporte of Screensavers fame. This podcast, along with the other ones in the TWiT Network, appeal to the nerd in me.

So - I've been looking around, and have found some things sorta what I'm looking for (Free Talk Live), but they're a bit nutzo - not really my political alignment... But what I'm really looking for is an hour or so long, and a recap/commentary about current world events... Any ideas? I've tried some NPR stuff, but again, not really what I'm looking for.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

You should listen to 'The Ricky Gervais Show'. It's the most downloaded podcast for a reason.
