Odd LAN problem
I'm at my wits end.
we have 2 computers connected through a LAN (through a 10/100 Ethernet switch) and in Windows XP the comps have no problem finding each other, but they can't find each other when playing a LAN game - no matter which game we try. disabling firewalls doesn't help. We've also added IPX protocols and tried setting the frametype to 802.3, but nothing seems to help. help me GFF community, you're my only hope. Jam it back in, in the dark. |

Does pinging each other work?
There's nowhere I can't reach. |

yep, pinging works 100% on both machines, which just makes it more odd.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |

Is this a hardware firewall you're talking about? Or one of these (useless) personal firewalls? What about the in XP integrated firewall?
Can you try to setup FTP servers on both machines and try to connect to these? Also about the games: What games? How ya doing, buddy? |
