TREATED LIKE DIRT
History: I work in a pharmacy
I get yelled at sometimes for no apparent reason, sometimes people start throwing down HIPAA lawsuit threats like something was on. I work hard. I'm a pharmacy student which is hard. I'm a pharmacy technician, which is hard. Trying to do those things especially during finals week and Christmas week is nightmare. Not to mention flu season. And get this, I actually work and try to make things easier for the patients that come to the pharmacy (Though why i do, i still don't know). Now who the hell are you to treat me and especially the pharmacist like we're pieces of garbage. If you're insurance doesn't work don't take it out on us who are trying to help you in the first place etc etc. Do you treat your doctor, your nurses, your psychiatrist this way as well? We're health professionals, not your punching bags! Now that that's out of my system. I wanted to ask if I'm the only one that gets treated this way or has anyone ever seen such bad behavior enacted in a pharmacy setting. If you're a patient who's been held up for hours because one person is being argumentative or if you're a pharmacist who's had enough, this is the place to vent. ![]() Jam it back in, in the dark.

People treat someone in a service industry like a peice of shit? shocking.
There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() GI Joe is the codename for America's highly trained special mission force. Its purpose: to defend human freedom against COBRA. A ruthless terrorist organization determined to rule the world. 24 can't jump the shark. Jack Bauer ate the shark long ago. Now 24 can only jump the water, and that doesn't mean anything. - Jazzflight <Krizzzopolis> acid you are made of win. <Dissolution> And now my god damn scissors are all milky |

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
I haven't seen much of that in a pharmacy setting. But then again, I don't spend much time at a place like that. I understand that it can get frustrating having to put on that smile (or not emotional reaction) after someone has treated you like crap. Its hard to believe that some people can't appreciate the work you put into things.
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
got that right, I myself work in customer service, where I'm constantly berated for situations that have nothing to do with me, and I too am seen as the proverbial punching bag for people who just want to vent. it's kinda hard not to vent back
I was speaking idiomatically. ![]() You know what? you just might be full enough of shit to apply for congress |

I Know the feeling, the only thing that stops me from throwing punches is knowing that I'll lose my job if I do. Meh, when you work in a shop you gotta expect to be treated like crap by some lousy customers.

I find that there's always people who will treat you like shit wherever you go. That's just how it goes sometimes.

As a waitress, I know how that feels. If there's one thing I can't stand, its people being rude/mean to the people serving them food. I mean, come on, I dont know about anyone else, but I just serve the food, I cant make it come any quicker than the cook makes it. And mistakes happen: if you get the wrong change, don't scream in their faces, politely point it out. It can and will be fixed.
Its unfortunate how much of this kind of behavior I've seen... you can just tell when a person doesn't work with other people... most of the mean people probably sit in cubicals all day. Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() |
I seriously hope you won't be having this attitude when you're working in the mentally challenged section of a home.
Because if it is, shit will definitely hit the fan. There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() |
I fix computers, and do to the fact that absolutely no one knows how to use a computer, I get a ton of complaints. I can't count how many times someone has come in yelling about how they just brought their computer back home and it still won't connect to the internet, even though they forgot to connect it back up. This is especially great because I've learned no one listens. The more you try to correct them, and thus make them wrong, the louder they tend to get and the more threatening. Best example of this is a woman brought in a computer way before I was working there, about eight months ago. The computer was fixed within the week and she was called... and called, and called ever week for eight months. So she finally comes in, asks for her computer back, and we had finally given up and used it for parts. She flips, throws fans, cords, whatever she can get her hands and leaves. The next day she comes back and places an order for a new system like nothing ever happened.
People are super. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
I am a customer service rep, so I get plenty of shit that has nothing to do with me. I can understand customers throwing a fit at service reps like Wal-mart, internet, ect, but a pharmacy? I have never heard of people acting immature at pharmacy techs... must be where I live...

Some people just want somebody to let it out on when something goes wrong. Not only is that wrong, but it's going to give two people a bad day. Nobody wins.

It turns out that today is opposite day, so all of what you have said is true, so you should probably just go.

Except for the bystanders. Nothing like watching a good ol' fashioned tongue lashing for no reason whatsoever.

I've done the retail thing, and to be honest people are usually mellow. I remember the bad customers a lot better than the good, but I don't remember a steady stream of them.
Just sayin'. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Yeah, did I mention I work at a fast food place, again? I mention it all the time, you know. (Not that I post often enough, but, yeah.)
So, I kind of know EXACTLY what you mean. Some guy hit me just the other day. Customer service = fun. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() John Mayer just asked me, personally, through an assistant, to sing backup on his new CD. |
Not much, which is the point. Very minor things set people off.

I shook the hand of my Chiroprators assistant for ending my back pain with a short session of spinal theorpy in one day - that his boss failed to do in 5 months. I can understand the anger - you count on your doctors to end your misery but I don't think brash methods of doing so is necessary.
On a different situation, I've been cussed out and called stuff in my store for telling them we didn't have a certain product, after looking high and low for it. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Ah, wow, dealing with the public. Join the other like 40% of working/middle class Americans who work in the service industry. You think working at a pharmacy is hard? Try working retail, or in a restaurant, or a clerk/receptionist/administrative job.
At least you make more as a pharmacy technician than as a cashier at Sears. I hated that job, I can recall several occasions where I had my life threatened and it's over stupid shit like dumbasses being too big to fit in a 4XL shirt and yelling at me like it's my fault. The best part about being the military is not dealing with retards in the general public. Although, now I deal with a select few retards in a limited capacity who wear uniforms. I was speaking idiomatically. ![]() Posting without content since 2002. |

It just comes with the job. Strangers do tend to not think before doing anything, one reason why I'm glad I've always worked behind the scenes. While I feel for the service people on the receiving end of such hostility, I must say that it is pretty entertaining.

Sleipner that's terrible I wouldn't expect that in a pharmacy as I would in other places like fastfood. I've never seen a scene at a pharmacy before myself.
When I worked in fastfood I got screamed at by a few customers for no good reason and had some rude people but it's nothing compaired to being hit! Jam it back in, in the dark.
