Dexter - Everyone's Favorite Serial Killer

No, this is not an extension of the boy genius, but a new series on Showtime.

To be honest, this is one of the best pilots I've seen in a long, long time. Pure genius, really. It's a shame I don't get Showtime, but I'll be sure to download this one.

The show is about a forensics detective in Miami by day, who kills Serial Murderers at night. The whole show is narrated by Dexter, and has a very dark sense of humor about it all. Great stuff, really.

They have the pilot on Showtime's website at the following. Use the password "sneakpeek" to watch it.

Anybody else hyped up yet?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

strange...

just checked out the first episode (sadly, that link doesn't work for people in canada) and I can say it's a interesting, but very strange show. the whole way it's presented and played out is very noir and dark. which works very well. but because it's so weird I don't know if it will ever be very popular.
and it doesn't help that the main character is a serial killer. but then again showtime's success has been because it doesn't show the "mainstream" type of television.

the only thing I didn't like about the episode is the flash back scenes. they felt out of place to me. and I especially didn't like the father encouraging him.

but besides these small complaints I thought the show was interesting and would like to see more. I just hope it doesn't get cancelled. it's hard to tell if this will be popular or not...

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I'll definitely have to give this one a download. Dark humor is my kinda thing, and I absolutely loved Dead Like Me.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I started watching this show today. I only finished about half of the first episode, but it's been great and I'm hooked. This one better not get cancelled.

Holy crap forum necromancy I know but I figured it was better than a new thread.

Just watched the last episode of the first season. Anyone else follow this the whole way through? What an awesome series! I really hope they make new seasons based on the other books. (It's based on a book.)

I was speaking idiomatically.

A book of the same name? (didn't know about the novel).
I followed from the first to last episode and enjoyed every single one of them. The ending was truly fitting and excruciating at the same time

Read your posts, series sounded good so I checked it out.

F**KING BRILLIANT!

Enjoyed this show. Its great to see much more mature/different approach to a TV series. Very well cast too, I agree with you, best pilot I've seen got me hooked within the first half hour.

The ending was quite sad/fitting. Even though I had guessed who it was from the begining, the interactions between Dexter and the killer was nail biting stuff.

I'm glad it will be back for a second season, I hope the do a good job marketing this, because it deserves to been seen.

Excellent show. Dexter is a great character and Michael C. Hall is a very talented actor. David Fisher and Dexter seems to be his only big casts, but they make for a great start of carreer so I hope he strikes it big - he deserves it.

I had no idea that Julie Benz that plays Dexter's girl friend is Miranda Keys from Halo videogame.
Its also funny that alot of the cast have appeared in Law and Order or CSI

Jam it back in, in the dark.

THe last 3 or so episodes seemed a bit rushed and turned the whole thing upside down... still, best series I've seen in a very long time.

Is it over now? Or will there be a second season?

Showtime says there's a second season coming sometime in 2007. So that's a plus.

Yeh last few did seem kinda rushed, I was expecting them to use the Ice Truck Killer over a couple of seasons.

Should be a very interesting season 2, especially if the shed some light on Sergeant Doakes' background, the amount of swearing he does it hilarious!
