Having seen all the "look at us press guys, we got ourselves a ps3!" videos, I'm not impressed with the Bios menu. It's an over glorified PSP bios menu. I was expecting something more...well, next gen.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. All I'm saying is that if the laptops of the future are not in the
shape of chibi genie girls then I'm going to be sorely disappointed. |
OMG!!!! did you here the news the PS3 is coming out Nov.17 but there
deleying all the games how stupid! I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?
I am the destroyer of worlds fear my wrath and anguish, now join with me or die as my enemy.

Yeah, I don't want you in this thread anymore.
I was speaking idiomatically. |
Sonic is getting delayed though, which kinda sucks but I'm in two ways about that. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? All I'm saying is that if the laptops of the future are not in the
shape of chibi genie girls then I'm going to be sorely disappointed.

EDIT: While trying out the Wii at Gamestop, I got confirmation that it's too late to switch systems, but I'm fine with the $500 model. One thing I did learn, though, is that the only special they're offering is that you get $10 off X-Men: The Last Stand for Blu Ray if you buy it along with the system. A pretty good deal, but I couldn't bring myself to spend money on the most disappointing movie of this year. If it was Black Hawk Down or something better, I'd probably take them up on the offer. Also interesting is that they actually have finished, packaged PS3 games for sale now. The guy showed me the sealed cases for Tony Hawk and Ultimate Alliance. Pretty cool, though I don't quite like the clear Blu Ray border on the top. I was hoping they'd go for the black color scheme to match the system. FELIPE NO

I visited my local Best Buy (after visiting GameStop and EB Games, as an interesting side note) and there it was: the PS3 kiosk. Neither of the major gaming places had it. I discovered a kid playing some racing game (Motor-something or other). After watching him botch the controls (seriously, kids need more education) he handed the control over to me and I promptly won a race and handed off to the next putz in line. A couple of times I heard kids say, "Wow! Look at the graphics!" and I groaned to myself a little.
The graphics are good, yeah, OK, natural progression of computers and graphics told us we knew this would happen. Frankly, I was disappointed. Oh boy! Look at all the parts when my car explodes! They intentionally slow this part down to show you all the parts! Then your car respawns and the framerate is still kinda choppy while you're racing, even if you've got no one in front of you. I expect/require 60 FPS at this point in the gaming cycle and this game doesn't have it. Otherwise it was a fairly generic racing game; no weapons, no powerups, just you, some ATVs, boosting and some decent graphics. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
I felt about the same when I tried Excitetrucks today. In this case though, I guess the prettier generic racer wins out of the two. I'll probably hit my nearest Best Buy tommorow to see if they have the PS3 set up. But I'll be especially paying attention to Sunday's ads, to see if any specials or lower prices occur for the launch games.

Quite frankly, I don't think too many people are gonna be disappointed with the XMB (?) interface, so it's easy, user-friendly, and functional. Plus, it doesn't have "the blades." How ya doing, buddy? Unless of course you were actually trying a "RE has tank controls geddit" joke, in which case ::tumbleweed:: As for the PS3 HDD, I was told at work that there were already blog entries of people switching their hard drives to a 120GB one, but I have yet to see one. I seriously doubt opening the PS3 will be allowed (still going to void your warranty), but for HDD exchange you won't need it anyway since you remove it from the side. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() |
Good, no need to open up the whole damn system then. All I have to do is wait a bit for everyone to try the different kind of drives, and then purchase whichever one people recommend the most (and at a good price).

This article says you can switch the HD easily, and aparently the instructions are in the manual.

![]() Here's some additional news in regards to the PS3's Blu-Ray playback for those interested. The machine apparently runs near-silent according to the folks over at AVS, and its PQ (picture quality) surpasses that of another BR player. He has more impressions but I'll just quote the movie playback bits:

There's a potential issue I'm hearing about... It was brought up by Jonnyram over on GAF, which is that apparently you can only use one of the three outputs on the system at once. That is to say, if you use HDMI, you use that only. That's a big problem for me, considering that I always hook up my sound outputs to a mixer that leads to my speakers. I honestly had no idea HDMI contained sound data as well, so considering that my monitor has no speakers, I honestly don't know how I'm going to handle hooking up sound while still keeping the awesome resolution...
How ya doing, buddy? |
I kind of doubt this will be the case, or at least if you use a combination of HDMI and the digital output for home theaters. Even if this was the case, a firmware update should be able to fix something like that.
Well, I went through the Sunday ads, but no specials on any of the games. They all sell for $59.99 and most are all available the day of the sytem. I guess I'll head to Gamestop and reserve Resistence. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Edit: Heh, browsing through GAF's HDTV thread, one of the members (CrazyMoogle) mentioned the audio/video routed through different outputs.
In some minor news, the console supports HDMI 1.3 (or is it 1.3a), even though there are few HDTVs out there that can take advantage of this. Not to mention the complete lack of content using DeepColor. Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() The text is part of the image and the two squires aren't exactly even.

A bigger issue I'm more concerned about is over wireless internet devices. Since I reserved the $500 model, that means no wi fi for me, since I already use the following for online gaming for my PS2.
http://www.amazon.com/Linksys-WGA11B...8&s=videogames It should work the same for PS3, though a confirmation would be nice. Also, I stopped by my Gamestop again to reserve Resistence. I'll be picking up both the system and game come this Friday. Fun times ahead. Spoiler:

Spoiler:
I reserved the $500 PS3 as well, Soldier, but then again taking a console online isn't a huge thing for me. I'll eventually do it, and when that time comes I'll buy the wireless network adapter for it. Until then, it's offline gaming for me. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? In reply to the folks that pointed out the sound solutions, thank you so much
![]() I was totally freaking for a while last night while tired. I'm glad I don't have anything to worry about. Problem solved, hype back in action ![]() How ya doing, buddy? |
As Friday comes closer, the more I dread the date. I was unable to pre-order the damned PS3, and lines of nerds will be packed at the local Circuit Cities and Best Buys, hampering my chances of getting one. Yes, people are actually going to be blowing obscene proportions of money for PS3's online, as they already are; and you guys are going to post pictures of unboxing it. God Damnit.
On a lighter note, I visited a few stores this weekend and no one had a single kiosk set up. Kind of dissapointing really, I was hoping to check out resistance, and see what the Wii's control scheme will be all about. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?
Love it.

so many were pre-orded mainly for selling it to the japs or europeans for really high prices on e-bay,my math teachers brother freind said he's buying the one's on the internet right now and pre-orded one too and plans to sell them for more money,i warned him about what e-bay is doing and how hard it is going to be just to find one,so he didnt do it.
500,000 units across the U.S.A....the best way to get one IS pre-order cause its gonna be hella-hard to find one Most amazing jew boots ![]() |
This is going to be such a trainwreck with Sony. Honestly, all 500,000 units will sell out the day of launch. I cannot forsee any other possibility. And this will only mean that it will be worse than the PS2 launch. Seriously, I think I got my PS2 after calling all my local stores maybe 4 months after launch.
How ya doing, buddy?
Love it.

Does anyone think this will work? I cooked up a little plan with some buddies so I can get the PS3 without waiting long at all. I have like 6 or so people and we were going to rotate every couple hours. I'm extreme anti-camping, but in all I wouldn't be out there all told for nearly as much as most people.
Anyone think it would work? I don't see why not, unless I'm missing something. Jam it back in, in the dark.

So i'm planning to camp out on Thrursday afteroon ^_^''
I wonder what my odds are? How many of you plan to camp out earlier than thursday? There's nowhere I can't reach. |
That should be plenty early. I'm not one to be politically correct, so I'll just call it how I see it. Anyone who waits out there all the way up on wednesday is a loser. I have more respect for people than that so I assume few if any will start out on wednesday.
