I gotta go to work in an hour sadly, although I might well watch the USA match on the small tv in our office. Then hit the pub to watch England teach the Algerians how to play football.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Interesting stuff seems to be going on these days.

I'm somehow looking forward to the next matches.. especially matches of USA and Switzerland. Even though I'm not going to watch it live - The end results are sufficient.

I also think that this thread is best viewed like this.

It's looking increasingly like there's going to be some less highly rated teams in the knockout stages. All the "Favourites" have been a bit shit so far, although I suspect come the next round, a lot of players will up their games.

Based on form so far, Argentina look favourites although you can never write off the Germans and I suspect once the Spanish, Portugese and Dutch start really trying they'll put up a decent challenge.

Sadly, it looks as though it's curtains for England. We'll probably scramble a shitty win and go through then get out-classed in the next round. The simple fact is, although there are regularly two or more English teams in the last four of the Champion's League, they're teams full of foreigners. The current England team mainly play for Spurs and our keeper from the first match was from West Ham of all places. The best England teams of recent years have been those primarily made up of Man Utd and Arsenal players, back when the Neville brothers, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and so on all played together every week and knew each other's styles. Plus at present they're all playing out of position and WHY THE FUCK IS HESKEY STILL IN THE ENGLAND SQUAD WHEN WE COULD HAVE TAKEN BOBBY ZAMORA?

How ya doing, buddy?

Man, even for France, this is still kind of a dick move. Seriously? Why don't they just pack their shit and go home? If someone had predicted that they'd throw a tantrum over one of their teammates getting teary-eyed because a bunch of beaners beat them, we Mexicans, as a nation, would have been the better country and petitioned Javier Aguirre to let the children win just to be nice.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Current pool scores:

1. Dopefish 23
2. Denicalis 20
3. Shin 18
4. Musharraf 16

I like how Shin's prediction for Portugal-North Korea was 6-0

Man, I thought seven would be over the top.

Portugal, Brazil and Argentina are looking like the teams to beat now, if only because they've all started to relax, which is when really good players are at their best. The reason England are playing so shit is because they're scared of losing, even against shitty teams like Algeria and the US.

I think Spain might stick four or more past Honduras the way the match has started.

Edit: Haha, my 2-1 to SA over France is looking a lot more likely now.

I haven't watched one match in this tournament so far on account of bad possibility, but maybe it's my luck, because it really seems this world cup is not so hot (but I watched all highlights). Second round was predictably better, because the teams were force to lay off their hesitation.
Last round coming up is hopefully going to provide us with some extraordinary surprises. Well I think Portugal should have stopped at 4, no need to humiliate your ballfriends like this.

What a crybaby. I think we know who won't be coaching the French football team the next time they take the field.

Big day for USA and England. I wish I could take the day off...

That was completely out of fuckin' NOWHERE!

I hope the Americans don't think that this "feign fatigue toward the end and then GET MY BALL ALL UP IN YA" tactic is gonna work forever. Then again, I have a good feeling about their next game since they'll probably end up playing the Germans and heaven knows those guys never finish anything they start*.

They played a really solid match, but there's that whole GETTING ROBBED AGAIN thing, BUDDLE* NOT BEING ANYWHERE CLOSE for the fucking sweet setup on that break near the end, and Dempsey generally being unable to hit the broad side of a barn.

Just gotta touch up a few aspects (holy shit middle defense) and they might actually get far.

The calls were fucking retarded too. I don't know what grounds they called offsides on Jozy but, fuck it, I hope this team is afforded refs with better vision next match.

say WH--

So apparently ESPN's football analysts are already wetting themselves at the prospect of the US being in the semi-final, assuming the US beats Ghana (which is no guarantee) and the winner of Uruguay-South Korea (which is safer than Ghana, IMO). Considering the US has played two decent but separate halves (first half against England, second half against Slovenia) and barely won this game, I'm not willing to give Ghana the shrug-off yet.

I am excited to see how the other four groups go. I'd like to see fewer matches where both teams advance regardless of winning or losing, though. (So I'll get my wish tomorrow with Japan-Denmark. )

There's nowhere I can't reach.
