FIFA World Cup 2010

Hey football (sic!) fans what's going on

http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s...occer_slap.gif

The FIFA World Cup 2010 is scheduled to take place between 11 June and 11 July 2010 in South Africa (which is a country in the south of Africa!:tpg:)

There are a lot of interesting teams, like NZ, Slovakia (you know that one from Hostel) and North Korea (lol). It will be very fun.

I guess we had kind of a bet game 4 years ago so there will be one this year as well. Stay tuned for more info (and post here if you're interested in participating, I guess).

if you fags still need tickets go here lol

Oh yeah and Canada didn't qualify. You cry. :eagletear:

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Apr 29, 2010 04:11 PM

Woohoo, not loing now and luckily all the decent English players got booted out of the Champions League already so they won't be so tired. See, it was all part of the plan all along.

Worryingly, more and more England players seem to be picking up knocks as our season winds down, if Rooney's not playing we're fucked.

As always, I'm going to put money on Germany to win. Not because I want them to or even particularly think they will but because on English betting sites, the odds are always artificially low on England and high on Germany and there's always a semi-decent chance they'll win it. 15-1 currently on Betfair, worth a fiver I reckon.

I'm definitely in for a pool come World Cup time.

Paco Apr 30, 2010 01:09 AM

Even if it means I lose money for betting against any European team, I'm in for a pool as well. Empty (all 17ยข) from my PayPal account, you fucks!

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss May 21, 2010 03:38 PM

Not long to go now, Mush. When's the score predicting contest starting?

Musharraf May 22, 2010 12:19 AM

Yeah, I gonna set something up this weekend, I guess (unless you want to do it of course :)

YO PITTSBURGH MIKE HERE May 22, 2010 12:20 AM

Count me in for any sort of pool that doesn't involve real money.

Dopefish May 22, 2010 12:39 AM

Also interested in a friendly competition.

Musharraf May 23, 2010 03:49 AM

Okay guys, here's a list of the group stage matches. In case you wanna participate in the pool (no money of course), send me a PM until June 10, I guess. No further explanation, you know how this works. Don't forget to answer the bonus questions at the end :)

Hamu-Sumo May 23, 2010 04:29 AM

Go go Power North Korea!

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss May 23, 2010 07:29 AM

How about bonus points for picking the top scorer? I reckon it'll be Christiano Ronaldo by some distance.

Musharraf May 23, 2010 08:02 AM

Hey dude that's a great idea. I will add some other stuff, too.

So far I got
Top Scorer (5 points):
Team with most red cards (5 points):
Team with most goals (5 points):
Team with most goals scored against them (5 points):
Final match referee (10 points):

If you guys have any more ideas, I'll be happy to add them

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss May 23, 2010 08:17 AM

Betting on the combined shirt numbers of all the goal scorers in a given match is always fun, although spread over a whole tournament it'd be pure luck, plus a bit of a mission to add up.

I reckon Ronaldo for top scorer, Greece for most sendings off, Portugal for most goals, Ivory Coast to let in the most goals and, er, that Swiss guy who hates England as the ref in the final.

Clamjouster May 23, 2010 09:25 AM

I am interested in participating, I can't take part of an actual betting pool even if I'd like, so I guess it'd have to be like last time for me, just sticking to bragging rights, on the top scorer topic, I'd say that'd go to Spain or Brazil, most sendings off I'd say north korea, I can't say who will let in the most goals.

So... all of them?

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss May 25, 2010 03:33 PM

I was thinking of Urs Meier as it happens, although you're not technically wrong. Although apparently he's retired now so chances are it won't be him.

No. Hard Pass. May 25, 2010 07:11 PM

Yeah, but think of the odds mush would have to give if you chose him.

Dopefish Jun 4, 2010 09:02 AM

Well, Africa's chances of winning the World Cup has diminished by two star players (Michael Essien, Ghana; Didier Drogba, Ivory Coast) in as many weeks. Ivory Coast was a dark horse to win before Drogba's injury; now they'll be lucky to advance out of the group stage.

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Jun 8, 2010 05:43 PM

No chance can be diminished by as many players as you want and it's still no chance. Even though there's a lot of African players playing in France and England these days, there's simply not enough who regularly play together to form a cohesive team. In the England team there's a load of players who regularly play together, same with Portugal, Spain, Brazil and Italy so it's much easier for them to get together and play as a team for their country.

It'll be a European team that wins it this year for certain. The only question is which one.

No. Hard Pass. Jun 8, 2010 05:50 PM

Since when did Brazil become part of Europe?

Musharraf Jun 9, 2010 12:30 AM

Hey guys, I guess I got like three PMs regarding the pool so far. It would be cool if there were some more of you sleaze bags participating in this.

Brazil won't win this year. The older players are too old and the younger players have all been off form lately. Argentina are the only non-Eiropean side in with a shot as I see it and even then only if a couple of their players really turn up.

No. Hard Pass. Jun 10, 2010 05:44 PM

My money is on Spain, anyway.
