This might be the buggiest game I've ever played on the 360. I don't know how many times Dom just stands there, doing nothing (specially not reviving me), or Jack getting frozen leaving me stuck because he's supposed to open a door.
So far the way I fix the Jack thing is to leave an area and come back to the door that Jack is supposed to open. As far as everything else, yeah, this game is MAD glitchy. Chainsaw kills that don't saw opponents in half, Reavers that fall and never explode, Wretches crawling on ceilings that aren't there and, of course, getting stuck between those thin membranes inside the huge worm because your chainsaw never deployed.

Additional Spam:
I keep reading about people complaining that Dom doesn't revive them, which confuses me. When I am playing campaign by myself and I die, I die. There is no waiting for Dom to revive me. It's just game over. What am I missing here?
I think that applies to the "Down But Not Out" thing when you can crawl to relative safety until a team mate revives you. I've heard of people saying that Dom just stands there while you exanguinate at his feet. On the other hand, I don't know why people would complain about that if you get hit with the Boomshot. What's Dom gonna do? Saw your meat pile back together on the fly?

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

No, I understand the situation. I'm just saying that when I am playing and I get killed, I just fall over and have to reload from the last checkpoint, whether I got dismembered or just got shot up a bunch with a lancer. The only time I get a chance to be revived is when I am doing co-op.

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

The Dom thing happened to me a lot during the Skorge fight. I'd be crawling to him, but he'd seem to always want to run away from me and not help me. Then tickers would come and explode on me. I think he's only revived me once during the whole campaign.

Never had problems in the riftworm though.

I was speaking idiomatically.

That's probably because you're playing it on Insane. On the lower difficulty levels you rarely get damaged to the point of death so easily.

Holy fuck they nerfed the shotgun good.

If anyone plans to get online with this, save the shotty unless you've got an active reload. Firing from the hip no longer works and the range has more or less been reduced to point blank.

Chainsaws however, are nigh unstoppable now. Chainsaw duels are the funniest thing ever. Added bonus if it's the only weapon you use for an entire match, angering the other team.

I had vaguely planned to try and co-op the original Gears with someone, though Skills (who said he was game) has been impressively lame on that front. What with the deluge of new games I don't think that's going to happen now.
I've been planning to run through that on Hardcore so I could unlock General RAAM on Gears 2 multiplayer, and I could use the Dom achievements too. If you still want to do it over a weekend or something, I'm down.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

I believe I will now have nightmares because of the tickers alone.
That and Wretches personally for me since those fuckers just creep behind you everytime you face a bloodmount, a boomer, grinder, mauler or any of those heavies.

Also recommending Jacinto next time as Horde map because camping behind laser barricades is lulz (thanks russ).

I know I'm probably late but I finally beat this game tonight. GodDAMNIT, this game glitches like a motherfucker. That is my single greatest complaint about this game. I have other complaints about this:

Spoiler:
Some characters that were incredibly well-designed and had the potential to be really great plot threads were killed in the first hour of gameplay. Like Tai. Tai is, by far, my favorite character I've seen in a game in a long time and he was mercilessly left to shoddy plot devices.

The game is pretty much what I expected it to be otherwise. It was brutal, intense and fun to play on career mode. The story was a massive change to it. We were no longer subjected to excuses to go from point A to point B; there was now a backbone to the characters and a visceral connection to the 2 main characters in the squad. I especially liked the choice to have a plot devoted to Dom alone.

Spoiler:
I get that Dom looking for his wife had the potential to be the flimsiest of plot devices but the fact that it wasn't YOUR character this was being forced upon, as opposed to a secondary character was a massive difference in the delivery. I still think that when he find Maria and she's basically a vegetable is a bitter moment in the game. It worked much better with the idea circling around Dom instead of Marcus. I still want to see how see how interpersonal relationships like Dom and Anya and Dom and his father work out, but this is a fucking good start.

All in all, yes, this game is flawed. BADLY. I still like it a lot and, provided they fix the fuckups in the future, this could turn to be a damn good art device. I give it an A-.

I've heard this from a couple of people, and whilst I've witnessed one or two glitches I didn't actually find it bad at all. I certainly wouldn't say it glitches like a motherfucker.

Spoiler:
I will agree about this, this did annoy me since it felt like they introduced Tai just so they had someone to kill off. Personally I think it would have worked better, and had more emotional impact, if it had ended up being either Cole or Baird who had died and Tai replace them in your squad, though that would have possibly pissed off fans (and plus killing Cole would be a shame, since he's a funny fucking character).

Spoiler:
The Maria moment I could see coming a mile away, but the way they did it fucked with my head. Definitely a down moment, but I thought they did it well.

Also, I take it you mean Marcus and Anya, and Marcus and his father in that last sentence. But yeah, the Locust queen's comment about Marcus's father was intriguing, will be interesting to see how that plays out.

Edit: Also, I want to do a co-op run with someone so I can play the game on insane, so if someone wants to do a co-op run with me this week then let me know.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

When YOU get stuck fighting the Leviathan by yourself because your homeboy Dom was stuck walking on water 600 yards away, THEN you can say you "didn't actually find it bad at all".

Well no, the whole point is I haven't come across instances of glitching like that, which is why I can say I didn't find it bad, because I didn't find it bad. This is as much a statement of fact as it is opinion. If I had experienced a element of glitching as you have described then I would be joining in with your appraisal of the game. Until I do encounter such issues though I'm going to stick with my verdict of not having found it bad at all.

Also, just want to say: will people quit bitching about the chainsaw already. Yes it gets perhaps too much priority, but it's a facet of the game, learn to deal with it or shut the fuck up.

I think the major complaint with the chainsaw (and a valid one) is that short of a 100% square-in-the-chest shotgun blast when they're raising it, merely shooting someone won't lower the damn thing any more. I've seen it pulled off with stuff like the Mulcher, but poor Hammerburst users get the short end of the stick here for sure.

With stuff like stopping power added to the lancer I don't see why they'd make it so much harder to drop a chainsaw and saying "fuck, just chainsaw duel if you want to live".

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I'm not saying it isn't a valid argument, it is. What I'm fed up about is hearing it all the god damn time. Everyone knows that it has better priority now, and sure I'd happily kill people with the shotgun if it was in my hands. However, when someone is up close to me and I have the Lancer in hand, or if I can attempt a short run at them, you better fucking believe I'm going with the chainsaw. Everyone has the option to have it, everyone should have worked out by now what the deal is, and I'm just fed up with hearing people bitch and moan any time someone gets a kill with it.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Oh, that's been like that since Gears 1. People would get mad at me and my buddies for using the chainsaw even if it was just once a match and we'd just stop using other weapons and win entire matches using nothing but the 'saw just to piss people off.

In fact I'm sure a very large chunk of my negative feedback has come from that.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

In which case they really need to stop bitching about it already.

Quote:

Wouldn't surprise me, I know I've had negative feedback from people just because I've been better than them. One guy in Sega Rally wondered how I was beating him when we were in the same car, and didn't take too kindly to me pointing out that bouncing off the walls probably wasn't helping his progress. So yeah, certainly sounds plausible to me, and probably means I'll be getting a few more negative feedbacks from Gears 2 MP then.

How ya doing, buddy?

Enjoy your low rating! Also for those who didn't know Gears 2 has totally ripped off Halo 3 a stats pages at the website.

Try not to be too jealous of my k/d, chainsaw duel streak or shotgun steez, please. There's more stuff like individual weapon and map breakdowns, too.
