man i really suck at this game, I dont get what i'm doing wrong. I's fun but my ratio is going down the pooper. I need some general tips, go:

I know exactly what I'm doing wrong. I can't aim worth shit at the higher turning speeds, and at lower turning speeds I'm far too slow to react to corners or other blind spots. Not to mention I am terrible at assessing grenade throws, most of the time they bounce off corners or edges and end up hurting me more than my targets.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Man, same here with those problems q. I have a hard time not slamming the joystick all the way to the edge, and I also tend to not turn exactly horizontal. I always wind up facing someone's feet or ten feet above their head.

I've found gruntpocalypse to actually be pretty good practice, though fuck them and their sticky plasma grenades.

Of all the thousands of people on Xbox Live at any given moment, I have a hard time believing that less than 200 of them were playing Reach. Of course I took this around 9:00 pm my time, which is probably something like 3:00 or 4:00 am in the states, but still.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I don't think that's 183 people playing Reach, that's 183 people playing the particular mode you've selected in Matchmaking (Team Slayer, Team Objective, etc), looks like score-attack to me judging by the banner.

Wolf: It showed your post as being 1am in my time zone (I live in Arizona, which is Mountain Standard Time), so that might have something to do with it. Check the numbers at night and on the weekend, I'm sure there are tons of people on that game at other hours.

In fact last week especially, I was often the only person (out of like 4 to 6 friends on my list) NOT in Reach, being busy with a Mass Effect 2 run.

One thing I've learned from being forced to play so much SWAT is that I naturally aim down at people's chests, rather than at head height. I think it comes from growing up with Quake where you're often looking down for rocket jumps and shots. I even noticed that as soon as I spawn in Halo I instinctively flick my view a shade down. Having noticed that, I'm making a concious effort to aim up at head height, the slightly smaller target compared to a chest shot is more than made up for by the extra damage from a head shot.

Also, now that damage doesn't carry over from a shield pop, you can get some kills by not melee attacking someone who's running up to you. Instead, use the recovery time from their attack to finish off their shield with normal fire then melee them for the kill. Not foolproof but most people aren't out of the habit of charging in then melee attacking yet so use that to your advantage.

Of course me giving Halo advice is laughable as I also really suck at the game but I do tend to win or come second in Firefights when I play with randoms, primarily because I tend to focus on high-value targets. Sniperfight? Aim for the Wraiths. Two shots to kill one, no scope required coz they're massive and you get 1,300 odd points...

Well, I was going for the daily challenges today, including one where you have to get 40 CQB kills, so I was in some Lone Wolf bullshit. They put us in a mongoose rally. I managed to pick up 8 or 9 CQB kills in a mongoose game

Finally... reached the rank of Sergent. I discovered that it is VERY difficult to discern who is who when playing Elites. Not sure why but its very frustrating. Apparently my aim is also complete shit, as I keep moving and flailing about like an agitated duck or something when I get into mid-range firefight against a guy and failing to kill him after emptying a full clip half the time.
