Everybody focuses on Dan's terrible special move priority, completely overlooking the obscene damage he puts out with his basic punches and kicks. All you need to do is wait for your opponent to let in a couple fierce punches, and they're going to be wondering where the hell their lifebar went. The secret is to NOT use his special moves, Chouhatsu Densetsu being the obvious exception.

Being a joke character, of course, I was under the impression that he really WAS useless in his first appearance in SFA1, and Capcom didn't buff him up to usefulness until 2 or 3.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Master paring using Dan and you're almost God himself.

He might be a joke character but he still packs alot.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Thank you. His strength truly resides in his normal attacks. Also, his Dan Kyaku and Koreyuken [don't even know if i said that right] packs a good punch too.

Also, I want to say Alpha 2 Gold on the Saturn and PS1 had one of the best soundtracks to Street Fighter. It was all arranged and didn't have that generic arcady sound that mostly all SF games have. Plus...Cammy's theme is godlike when arranged.

The priority of more or less all of his attacks (basic, special and super) sucks. He is a worthless character. He's there for comic relief you know.

He still does normal damage, so he isn't completely worthless. Servbot from Marvel vs Capcom 2 was worthless (below minimal damage), but it is possible to surprise people with Dan's supers, and if they land, they hurt.

I really did want a 4th SFA game. Actually, that was announced back then that Capcom was going to make one. Instead we got yet part 3 for another platform >.<;;. Capcom = Lazy.

Hey, good point. Are any arranged tracks going to be included as part of the collection? I'm enough of a music whore to consider the collection just for that. The Alpha 2 soundtrack IS superior to Alpha 3, no question there, though arranged versions of both would be awesome.

I think the Dan argument has gone as far as it can. The only way to prove my argument further would be to actually play the game and demonstrate. Suffice to say I could kick your ass with Dan, were we all within geographic reach of one another.

Plus I'd need to learn how to play him in SFA2. He handles a bit differently there from Alpha 3, as the computer was happy to demonstrate.

There's always the emulator kawaks. We can make it happen >=p. And to add to the Dan arguement. If you all were familiar with his fighting skills in svc chaos, he was given the nickname "Dan the Man" . >.<

As for music, I would definately get the collection if they have arranged tracks. Some of the music from alpha 2 are good but i find alpha 3 more interesting. Feels more Final Fight-ish if you ask me..

This is a collection I'm also looking forward to. I'm a Street FIghter nut and the Alpha series is among my favorites. I just hope Capcom includes more gameplay modes. Arcade and Versus mode arent really cutting it these days when Namco is notorious for stocking their fighters with so many different ways to play. Street Fighter Anniversary Collection really disappointed me in this area, though I DO love having 3rd Strike on the PS2

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I'm definitely looking forward to this collection. It seems Capcom has included two versions of Alpha 3 in this collection: the arcade version + the arrange version, which contains characters not found in the arcade version of Alpha 3:

Wasn't Guile the only character not in the arcade version of Alpha 3?

Hey, I wonder if we'll get all the dramatic modes and stuff in all three games? It's not like they really have to worry about running out of memory this time around. It'd be fun to be able to do dramatic mode with characters other than Ken/Ryu or Juni/Juli.

This thread will answer all of your questions.

I am getting it. Capcom put a lot of effort into this collection by adding all the console exclusive characters and modes.

Oh God, why did I actually go there? The children are actually having a spat with shoryuken.com. What a bunch of twats.

And I never did see anyone answer what sort of arranged tracks in the game. The 'arranged' modes don't sound like they have anything to do with the music.

Arranged mode is just another way of saying "Not arcade, but secret characters and plenty of extra modes =P".

All the Alpha games except 3 probably have arranged music. I don't care about Pocket Fighter, so I wouldn't know.

I've already got both Alpha 2/3 on PSX (and Alpha 3 on DC as well), so I'm not too sure about it yet. If I can pick it up on sale or something, I may just pick it up, but I doubt that I'll run out and get it for full price.

Also, I know it's probably too much to ask, but why can't they just release a SF compilation. You know, with the best versions of each game on one (maybe 2) discs? Street Fighter, Super 2 Turbo, Alpha, Alpha 2 Gold, Alpha 3 (the DC version), Third Strike? Throw in Pocket Fighter, Puzzle Fighter 2, and SF:The Movie as bonuses and I'll never have to stop playing again.

I think this releases at $30 american, so it is almost down to GH price level already, so it is really a no-brainer purchase for me when it comes out.

Ok, looking at all the extra secrets and mode in this collection, I am now 110% sure this game will be in my hands. At first the games are just arcade conversions, but as you beat it, more options open up. For instance, extra ism modes....picture this:

MARVEL-ism Dhal against a SFIII-ism Ryu.

That's messed up, but in a way...very cool. lmao.

How so? Is the music arranged and not just arcade converted? If so, i'll be very happy..because Alpha 2 Gold's OST was just so good.

Well, I don't care about Alpha 3's 4 missing characters. The 'partner free' Dramatic Mode is good enough for me.

I had it for about a week now and for a compliation it definately offers a lot once you start unlocking everything. But I was kinda disappointed with how you can't change up the options to select which type of music you can listen to (changing from Remix to Arcade for SFA1 for example)Also the new ISMs only effects a handful of characters minimally. My only real complaint about the game is that the secrets could have been a bit more organized.

This game was released here in the US this past Tuesday and it's a great compilation . They included a lot of the extras found in the Japanese version (including the hyper mode with the extra characters) as well as an option for progressive scan (by pressing the triangle and X buttons after the Playstation 2 logo at startup). They even left the option for installing the game on the PS2 HDD. After the initial loading of the game you select (which takes about 5 seconds), there appears to be no loading what-so-ever in the games themselves. Capcom did a great job with this collection. :superhappy:

I wish Hyper Street Fighter Alpha didn't have to be unlocked. But oh well, it's not all that bad. Either way, good compilation.

I just realized I don't have a single fighter on my next-gen consoles. Might pick this up on my outting today. It looks to be a solid compilation for a fair price.
