Still who would go through the trouble of making a convincing fake copy? The typed version came from the photographed versions, which shows the book in physical form and someone turning the pages. Its not something a fan can just make and bind it himself...Not to mention the illustrations and cover.

Still part of me does wish the PDF is fake, the story isn't boring, but I found some of the developments, dialouge, character and most of all the epilogue questionable in quality. The only thing I felt spot on was things that revolved around Snape.

Rowling said the epilouge will tell us everything that happened with everyone, when the one I read really doensn't....

Its difficult to discuss this on other HP forums due to the banning of people who leaks spoilers. Does anyone else believe this is fake? Despite photographs suggesting otherwise?

How ya doing, buddy?

Honestly, I do NOT know why people are THAT up and up about spoilers. Fact is, people who really want to know, WILL know. Even if it's the day after the release, they WILL know the result.

If they were wise (and I wouldn't be surprised if they ARE doing this), they would release fake versions of the story, that way keeping people in the dark as to what the REAL ending would be.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I dunno, while parts of the leaked version was meh, its also feels bit too much like Rowling's work in other parts to be fake either.

If they're gonna release a fake version, wouldn't they change the story completly as oppose to only changing parts in some places?

Cause there were spots that made me wonder if Rowling's writing dropped. And I'm not talking about the epilouge...

At the same time, alot of the plot matches up with what Rowling said in interviews...

Right, the book's been out for an hour and a half and the plot's all over wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_P...eathly_Hallows

Frankly, there's not much in the way of surprises in there. Anyone with a passing knowledge of fantasy stories could have seen most of that coming and the ending is particularly predictable. Rowling lives up to all her expectations as an Enid Blyton rip-off and there are no surprises in here at all to be honest.

Still, I did have a good laugh at the crowd of losers queuing for a copy at midnight, especially the kid who'd been there since 8 o'clock, given that the entire queue was gone in ten minutes when they finally opened the door.

We bought the book today, although my sister had first dibs on it, unfortunately for me

So I went ahead and downloaded the leaked version in the meantime for me to read on my PDA while I wait for her to finish. It's definitely the real deal too, for those who were wondering. I've done a superficial comparison of the two (because I don't want to spoil too much ). The first four chapters (which I was able to read from the print version while my sister was eating lunch) are the same between the two.

These books are so addictive

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

What, and be completely lost? I'm NOT taking the next 2 months reading 4 effing books to find out what happens in the last one.

Although, upon hearing that they're coming out in Latin, I might reconsider.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Four books? Did you read two of them and gave up or something?

It doesn't take that long to read them anyway...

But there's the wikipedia link, knock yourself out.

I'm more surprised by the claim that it takes 2 month to read four books....

Anyways, after having read nonstop since yesterday, I've finished the book. (Though 4chan spoiled the plot. Fuckers...)
I enjoyed it, though it annoys me that
Spoiler:
the stupid Harry's a Horcrux-theory came true...

Kilroy, the plot was spoiled right after book 6 came out. Rowling literally took a collection of the most popular fan theories and threw them together in one big book. Let's see....
Spoiler:
Snape's good
Snape swore to Dumbledore to protect Harry
Snape did it because he loves Lily
Dumbledore wanted Snape to commit the murder to protect Draco's innocence
Harry's a Horcrux
One of the Weasley twins dies
The Castle comes to life to defend itself
House-Elves and other "minor" creatures play a role in the final battle
And on and on.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Harry Potter is a mystery series, with each new book revealing new information that helps piece together and solve the last puzzle. That fans are able to gather hints from the various clues Rowling deposits in the books and form their own theories (some of which ended up being the correct answers) is, I think, more of a testament to Rowling's imagination and writing ability. I mean, yeah, some theories are just "because I said so," but plenty others have lots of backing from the actual text. Otherwise, I'm sure there wouldn't have been so many of those Harry Potter analysis books.

Furthermore, she's been working on the series for 17 (?) years? She's probably long had the particulars of the ending worked out and simply guided fans on the right path.

Also the thread title says UNMARKED SPOILERS, yet here you are all are duly using the tags. Such genorosity!

Ditto all the above. A fine example for me would be Mrs. Figg.

She was only mentioned on passing and briefly in Book 1. Then there was a off comment made by Harry when he went to the Quidditch World Cup, where he thought the Weasley's tent smelled just like Mrs Figg's home, like cats.

Two comments that seemingly had no significance other than Harry's thoughts or exposition to the horrids of his life with the Dursley. Yet clever fans were able to figure out that Mrs Figg may be involved with the magic community, which we all know by now in Book 5 and Movie 5 that she was send by Dumbledore to watch over him. I had a hunch on this myself without going to any forums at all back then.

Same thing with the intials R.A.B. People took a name that was mentioned in passing and figured it out. Trust me, most people without forums would not have noticed that quickly or easily.

If you are to blame something, blame the net for spreading these theories too far and wide, or fans are too clever for their own good.

Just like the planned killing of dumbledore. Snape's contact with Draco throughout the book, his closeness with Voldemort and Dumbledore, Dumbledore's unyielding trust in him, and the rage with which he met Harry with after being called a murderer right after the killing all lead me to the conclusion that Dumbledore was in on his own death before I was even done with book 6. Rowling's books contain plenty of clues, if you look hard enough for them, it's no surprise that after 6 books of info, people would start to figure out the bigger picture.
