I was just playing it this weekend, and got to the part after North Mountain in the first world (it's not that far). BUT I just realized I missed the world map, which was supposed to be in a chest? in the ship graveyard. Is there anyway I can get it again or do I have to restart?

There's nowhere I can't reach.

It's not in a chest, it's on a table inside one of the ships. You can go back anytime you want, or you can wait until the fire powered ship and get it there. (also on a table in the ship-like area before the actual dungeon parts)

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Hmm...At least it's not the atrocity that is Final Fantasy Anthology with the inexcusable load times. Final Fantasy V wasn't my favorite in the series (FFVI was, followed by FFIV, and then FFIX) but it's worth looking at. Are they plainning on bringing the entire FF series onto handheld? Because if they are, I wouldn't mind buying all of them. (Yes, I am a Final Fantasy fanboy).

This game is keeping me from FFXII, another awesome game this month. What is this, Square Enix? You're actually producing a lot of solid games for me to add to my collection.

Anyway, the game is clean, there is no loading times, of course, but there is some slight lag, but it's nothing really to whine about. The translation, of course, is incredible - and ripe with cultural references.

A scholar in Walse was telling me that Shiva was locked up in a dungeon somewhere there - "but don't take my word for it: take a look, it's in this book!" I was shocked that they threw a damned Reading Rainbow nod in there, but it's pretty hilarious.

I've met a few others, and I found that the dialogue is a lot more laid-back, and therefore, more real. The characters also have more character: Galuf is more "himself" (an old man) and Faris now talks like a pirate for real - in other words, she doesn't say "yarr" and whatnot, but there's a toughness to her speech that I always assumed she spoke with.

I must say that this was not a wasteful purchase.

I was speaking idiomatically.

So the translations of the names have changed again? I think the original, it was Worus, in the Anthology, it was Walz, now it's Walse? Also I saw that it was a Gladiator in a previous snapshot....Anthology listed it as Beserker. Whatever, I'm just curious as to exactly how much they changed. I might have to get Final Fantasy III (DS), Final Fantasy IV Advance (GBA), and Final Fantasy V Advance (GBA). Damn, I need some non-RPG titles for my DS....

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

No, gladiator is a new class made especially for the GBA version. The berserker class is in both. Totally different.

Really? Awesome, so they actually added new stuff into the game. I'm definitely getting it now. Along with FFIII and FFIV Advance.

Holy shit. Is Faris a woman. This is the first time I'm playing FFV with a bit more motivation than the emulated versions, so yeah.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I remember the first time I discovered Faris was a woman. It was one of my most joyous moments in my video game history!

I played this game years ago, and it was by far one of my favorite unreleased RPG for SNES. I've never fully completed any FF game so I figured I'd start now. I was shooting for a 100% bestiary and a complete Blue magic list.. Until I later realized I missed 1 monster in Karnak Castle.

Would you, the HARDCORE GAMER, start an entire new game just for a single monster in your bestiary? I also missed learning Level 5 Death and Level 4 Gravity, however I don't know if I can learn that in other worlds or not..

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

There is a place near endgame where you can learn every single blue magic spell, so don't worry about that.

Hey, what's the best way for the guys to learn their jobs? I keep switching them around so they can be well rounded, but what's the highest job level? I'm guessing it's 8 since that's how it's like in FFT, but that's that game, and this is FFV, which means there can easily conceivably be differences.

So should I keep switching jobs from one to the next or keep them solid job until they max out that job?

Max job level varies from job to job. Berserk for instance only has 2 jobs, whereas knights have 6. One of the better places early on is probably the caves with the skull eaters; but there are better spots later on (Castle Baal's basement with level 5 death works wonders).

Also, by the time you reach the end of the game, there are infact enemies that can give upwards of 199 AP per battle, so if you are only mastering certain jobs for the sake of mastering them; you can just wait and do it endgame. Focus on the ones you want to use and mix-match skills that way.

Hmm, dunno if its just me or are the monsters are bit tougher this time round?
I remember playing it on the PSX version where the fights are easier.

I have to admit you can level up faster on GBA, but still doesn't change the fact that the fights seems to be harder and harder now -_-"

As for my fav build is to get every character to get "Two Hand" ability of Ninja, then deviate from there Where do I get the new class shard? (still can't find it)

I am up to the part where
Spoiler:
the perverted old fart just went back to his era... and I am trying to restore the powers in each meteor so I can go to alternate worlds!

I think I have already gotten majorities of the classes, only the "one new class" that I can seem to find. Do you get that later in the game or have I missed it?

There's nowhere I can't reach.

If you're talking about Mime, which was the original "final class", then don't sweat it; you have a lot farther to go. If you're talking about the new classes, then I have no idea, as I am actually farther behind than you are in Advance. However, I imagine that the new classes will be around the same time as you get Mime, which, as I said, is very much a late-game class.

And yes, they give the majority of classes early on; you basically have them all (minus Mime+Advance Jobs) at this point.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Been playing this on my PSP(emulator), aside from the inability to emulate music very well, it's pretty great (blows the lag-tastice PSX version out of the water).

This game is by far one of the best to play through, the gameplay is difficult enough to be entertaining, the dialouge is ridiculously entertaining at times, and although like most FF game's story being convoluted or full of holes, this one's is pretty good. Simple, strait forward, and entertaining.

I thought I was just going insane when I got 2x turns in a row in FFIV, glad I cleared that up from reading this thread.

Also, this game never fails to suprise me. Just when I think something like Dancer or Geomancer is completely useless I am proved wrong when they do some crazy shit convincing me otherwise. Fun fun fun.

I don't know, I find this really easy at points.

Spoiler:
I'm near the top of the Barrier Tower, about to go wail on Atomos. Everyone's level 25, and things here are cake. Of course, the fact Faris is doing 1500 damage per hit probably doesn't help.

Class composition is probably skewing it a bit, but I use:
Bartz: Mystic Knight with Two-Handed.
Lenna: Time Mage With Red L3.
Galuf: Summoner with White L5.
Faris: Bare with Two-Handed and Berserk.

Just drop a Haste on Faris and watch the carnage. Though, uh, does anyone know when the new classes show themselves?

How ya doing, buddy?

Hmmm, still waiting for the new class to appear

Seems like Duminas is waay ahead of me, so I am waiting for his updates upon where to find the new class

Oh btw, just a simple question about Samurai's ability of "Zeninage"... does it cost anything to perform that move? Since it a uber powerful move that even at my lvl 17 I am dealing out about 6000HP damage each use regardless of the enemies armor... so I am thinking there must be a catch to it, but can't figure out what

The Zeninage move is basically your 'Gil Toss.'

It does ludicrous amounts of damage, but it also uses large chunks of your Gil! I haven't tested to see exactly how much is lost, but I believe it works off a certain ratio.

Also, all of the new classes are found at the end of the game. You won't be able to find them until you beat the game and then load your cleared save file.

And.. If anyone cares.. I did start an entirely new game just to kill a single monster. RPGs tend to bring out my LATENT NERDOM. Luckily, the game quite enjoyable!

They actually translated it as "Zeninage"? That's amazing; it's such a Japanese name. I was expecting Gil Toss.

I'm a (used to be a?) nerd, so back in high school I read a Japanese FAQ for Final Fantasy V, and basically already know it.

But, uh, doesn't it tell you in the ability menu what it does?

There's nowhere I can't reach.
